The Labour MP for Gorton & Denton was tonight sacked as a health minister after the Mail on Sunday revealed his vile WhatsApps. After a 72-year-old local resident got in touch with Gwynne’s constituency party to complain about her bin collection, the MP wrote a suggested response: ‘Dear resident, Fuck your bins. I’m re-elected and without your vote. Screw you. PS: Hopefully you’ll have croaked it by the all-outs.’
Charming.

All the above is a quote from this week's Spectator. What a lovely man, I am so glad he is not my MP

The messages were exchanged in a group called ‘Trigger Me Timbers’, which Gwynne shares with more than a dozen Labour councillors, party officials and at least one other MP, all based on the outskirts of Manchester. The MoS gained access to thousands of messages from the closed group, which was set up in 2019, and discovered a barrage of abusive texts. Among them are Gwynne saying someone ‘sounds too Jewish’ and ‘too militaristic’ apparently from their name alone, and sexist comments about Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner performing a sex act.

middle para should be at the end. the whole text is from the Spectator.

Wow. What an awful man.

Nandalot Sat 08-Feb-25 18:58:05

Absolutely appalling but I am glad that there has been swift action. I think he has been suspended from the Labour Party as well.

Anniebach Sat 08-Feb-25 19:00:05

Shocked, vile man

LizzieDrip Sat 08-Feb-25 19:12:38

What an idiot!

Absolutely should not be a Labour MP!

Casdon Sat 08-Feb-25 19:19:09

Yes, he has been immediately suspended. Quite right too, that is terrible behaviour.

rafichagran Sat 08-Feb-25 19:34:05

He sounds a real peach, glad he is sacked.

Ilovecheese Sat 08-Feb-25 19:35:36

One of Starmer's "quality " candidates I expect. Still, at least he didn't stand on a picket line or vote to reduce child poverty.

Casdon Sat 08-Feb-25 19:40:39

He isn’t, no. He’s been an MP since 2005, and served as a shadow minister under Jeremy Corbyn too.

Shinamae Sat 08-Feb-25 19:44:08

How many more of these reptiles have yet to be outed?

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 08-Feb-25 19:46:04

Truly shocking.

Then again - Why DO people write vile comments down on WA groups or wherever? Stupid behaviour. Surely they’d know that somewhere down the line it’d come back to bite you?
Tangible evidence.

Think it or say it.
Don’t bluddy write it. More fool him.

(I’m not condoning it btw just can’t believe the recklessness of those who do this).

AGAA4 Sat 08-Feb-25 19:46:22

Despicable toad. Apologies to toads.

Shinamae Sat 08-Feb-25 19:47:06

🤬😡

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 08-Feb-25 19:47:43

I had to Google him. I like visuals.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 08-Feb-25 19:48:19

X posts Shinamae!

What an idiot!

Absolutely should not be a Labour MP!

He should not be any sort of MP.

Casdon Sat 08-Feb-25 19:50:09

Politics is strewn with them. Immediate suspension is the only possible right outcome when they are outed. It would be even better if they didn’t get in in the first place, but no UK party has yet succeeded in achieving that.

Chocolatelovinggran Sat 08-Feb-25 19:55:19

Good grief. What a repulsive human.
I agree FGT, why on earth would you think it a good idea to share your repugnant views so widely?

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 08-Feb-25 19:58:20

He must have felt comfortable ChocolateLG to do so. In a group WApp.? Also anti-Semitic messages.

Labour hasn’t expunged all these rodents yet.

Do you think any party has? I think it’s one area where all parties are equally weak, I’ve said that on here many times before - it’s a politics issue, not a party issue.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 08-Feb-25 20:02:59

Sadly you’re probably right Casdon.

LizzieDrip Sat 08-Feb-25 20:17:50

I agree Casdon.

All parties have their undesirables - it’s not specific to one party.

Swift actions by Keir Starmer to suspend him.

TerriBull Sat 08-Feb-25 20:19:23

It never ceases to amaze me the buffoonery of some that enter public life, I'm not even attributing such idiocy to one party. Do they not even contemplate an indiscretion such as this is going to hit the headlines sooner or later? it's very hard to hide that level or awfulness these days. Whilst he might think it, which is bad enough, but what kind of idiot says it shock and of course it shows an absolute derision for the people he represents. What an arrogant jerk!

pascal30 Sat 08-Feb-25 20:29:33

He was a Health Minister.. it's absolutely unbelievable.. Thank goodness Keir Starmer took immediate action..
