I have just listened to J D Vance’s speech in Munich today.

It was absolutely spot on, what a man!

George Monbiot? Such a twerp.

I bet you were hanging onto every word uttered by the GB News panellist.

Claremont thanks for the George Monbiot video👏

Now there’s a man who says it like it really is! We need more like him, who are brave enough to call out Trump and his oligarchs for what they truly are.

He's always a voice of reason.. I watched Question time and am grateful we have people like him and Caroline Lucas in the UK

GG I wasn’t referring to you - although I accept the lack of clarity, as my post was addressed to you.

Here’s the post I was referring to:

love0c, 9.27 today

“I sincerely hope the tide is turning. We have fools running the country and encouraging the fools in the country to carrying on voting for them.”

GG yet it’s acceptable to insult those of us who support the current government by referring to us as ‘fools’?

I haven’t called any Labour supporters fools

I think that once anyone starts calling posters names and/or insulting them they have lost any argument/point they are endeavouring to make.

Comments such as “draining the swamp” and some others on here make me feel very sick too 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

Frankly, I’d rather be a fool than speak about fellow human beings as “the enemy within”

Enough said!

Claremont whether or not you agree with FriedGreenTomatoes2 is irrelevant however, insulting a fellow GN member like you have in your post of 14.50.47 is totally unacceptable.

This is not an insult. This is how those comments make me feel.

It certainly read like an insult to the poster.

Well, I will therefore change my post, and say that her comments made me feel sick.

Not sure who will be able to open the link (or will wish to do so or not). But is here George Montbiot (some of you heard him on Question Time this week)- explain how Trump and Vance are a sickingly worrying expression of a new world order, fascism by the billionaires and oligarchs, and how they use the prejudice and racism of populists to achieve their goal.

So we should defend people for ideas that wouldn’t have been out of place in pre war Germany?

It is possible to disagree with another poster without resorting to insulting them.

I agree with you Sago. The elephant or elephants in the room were no longer ignored.

Ah, but the thing with elephants is that they don't forget.

I believe the actions of Trump are what has hitherto been described as "draining the swamp" and is what Trump has always promised his voters. First he had to build a team around him to achieve that, which he didn't have in 2017 but in 2025 he is now doing.

LizzieDrip Sat 15-Feb-25 14:23:34

I actually agree pascal30.

Trump wants to turn his back on Europe - good riddance to him and his weird cronies.

Hopefully, European leaders step up, stand together and get rid of Trump’s influence in our affairs. In the long run, Europe will be better for it … and America will lose out.

In time, Trump may regret his isolationist stance because it will lead to his power on the world stage diminishing; and if there’s one thing Trump loves, it’s power!
