Right wing/left wing - what the hairoil is that to do with whether anyone assumes that a killing by a Syrian MUST be because he hates everyone from the West?

Does every leftwing or every rightwing person make assumptions without evidence? Does every rightwing or every left-wing person weigh up the evidence before opening their mouths with a verdict?

How anyone votes is not automatically the result of their mental processes (or lack of them) - unless, of course, they are so brainwashed or so infatuated by a celebrity with a powerful personality that they can't think for themselves and let their mental abilities atrophy.

We have nowhere near enough money nor staff in any of the above, so a huge decrease in numbers would make their jobs so much easier.

There’s a saying: the devil makes work for idle hands. My view, contrary to what many on here say, is that if they’re genuine asylum seekers they need to be housed for six months only while they get their lives in order. After that, they work, no benefits, no nhs until they’ve proved themselves a model citizen, any criminality then back they go, immediately. It needs to be law and made crystal clear at the outset. No exceptions. No work, the. no benefits, no food bank, no housing., no nhs. If they can’t or won’t support themselves, and let’s face it anybody can do some sort of menial job if they want to, then back they go. No human rights lawyers preventing it from happening.
That way, we would soon whittle the numbers down to genuine claimants who want to settle and assimilate.

Just my opinion.

They are not allowed to work, by law, until their claim to asylum is processed, they are not entitled to mainstream benefits, until their claim is processed.

It’s not them who don’t wish to work, it’s our abysmal slow, ineffective system and our laws which prevent them working.

Casdon I’m with you on the Southport murders. Those 3 sweet girls making friendship bracelets at a Taylor Swift themed day group at the start of their summer holidays were murdered by a psychotic individual. He’d been sectioned 3 times, improved on regular medication and released back into the community where he chose (for gods sake) not to take his meds. Longer lasting medication by injection was offered (probably bluddy cheaper option as always - less monitoring would be needed) but he declined them saying he “didn’t like needles”.

Our treatment of serious MH issues in this country is shameful. It’s expensive to treat. Living within communities should surely ONLY be possible with adequate safeguarding in place otherwise these individuals are a walking time bomb.

His family knew he was a risk. His parents grew up in Rwanda. Terrible atrocities there. The parents are now in hiding, have been given new identities. Probably don’t even live in Wales anymore.

But my point of this thread still stands. These attacks in Europe are becoming more frequent. And never mind Wyllow3 what the mealy mouthed Austrian politician said - the Austrian Police had already told the press there were links to Islamist radicalisation on line.

We need to acknowledge this. Face facts. Stop hand wringing and laying flowers whilst swaying with phone lights and candles at the scenes of devastation.

I think public opinion is hardening. The craven politicians who encouraged all this migration from countries with values different to us in Europe have put us all at risk. Where is safe? Wrong place, wrong time if unlucky. Best stay away from crowds of people. Christmas markets without adequate barrier protection for example? We are sitting ducks, sadly.

This is another valid point about Vance "telling us what to do" - as if their deportation policy has actually worked, when its too early to see what will happen.

How do you suggest "back they go?" We have to have an agreement with the receiving country before planes are allowed to land

The USA faces the same issue right now: what they are doing atm is either to hold them in deportation camps at costs to taxpayer, or dumping some in Panama, who have agreed to take them.

You are splitting hairs Wyllow. This individual, whether a lone wolf or a terrorist, was shown grinning after killing these poor people. Now, to you, it seems to make some sort of difference. An excuse maybe, some poor soul with mental issues. Isn’t that what we’re always told.
To the majority, there is outrage that once again one of these so called asylum seekers move to a European country and randomly kill its citizens.

No, that is not what we are always told. Far from it: if its terrorism, we are told, and the person prosecuted under the counter terrorism acts.

But in each case we have to wait for investigations as regarding the persons connections (or lack of), their online activities, whats in their home, what those who knew that person have said, before we can know the "why" .

My point, as I’m sure you realise, is that ANYONE, of any nationality/creed/colour/religion could have, and do, commit these terrible atrocities. Lots of white British people sadly become radicalised, especially disenfranchised young men.

Ok, I think most of us would agree with this.

So, given that you have to be in the country first, in which you wish to claim asylum and the law prevents them from working until leave to remain and right to work is granted. This process can take literally years.

How can we make this more effective and efficient? Because I agree with your basic points.

I wholeheartedly agree that no one who poses a danger to life should be allowed to seek asylum, but many many don’t.

I give no credence whatsoever to the rantings of the current US administration.

In terms of the Southport killings, he WAS British, he was also autistic, had mental health issues and obsessions with murder and genocide. He’d had issues since year 9 at his mainstream school and was moved to a special school, he was known to authorities.

According to neighbours in both Wales and Southport, the rest of his family were normal decent people who moved to Southport for the father’s work.

This could have been ANYONE, this young man was clearly mental very unwell and not properly or effectively monitored by either the authorities or his family. Absolutely not because his parents came from Rwanda.

I should add this is Europe not just UK.

The vast majority were Hadist/religion inspired.
