USA dealings with Russia and Farage

Farage was one of the principal people to persuade people to vote Brexit, splitting UK with the EU. He cosied up to the USA and supported Trump’s election. Additionally, Farage is hoping to have money from the USA to back his party in the UK . Considering, what Trump has done by having his team talk to Russia and suggesting to cut up Ukraine as well as taking the rights of ‘rare earth’. What is Farage doing with his US friends? I haven’t heard anything from him yet. What would you hope he will do?

In fairness I haven’t seen any Tory politicians supporting Trump on his Ukraine stance Claremont?

I expect to see weasel words from them in the next few days.

Why are so many Tories and Reform such Russian apologists? Mr Brexit Nigel Farage used to work for RT, Russia Today, with near monthly appearances.

In an interview with the BBC's Nick Robinson, Mr Farage was challenged over his judgement and past statements, including when he named Russian President Vladimir Putin as the world leader he most admired in 2014.

"I said I disliked him as a person, but admired him as a political operator because he's managed to take control of running Russia," Mr Farage said.

He was then pressed over a social media post in February 2022, when he claimed the Russian invasion of Ukraine was "a consequence of EU and Nato expansion".
Mr Farage said he had been arguing since the 1990s that "the ever eastward expansion" of the Nato military alliance and the EU was giving President Putin "a reason to [give to] his Russian people to say they're coming for us again and to go to war".
He added: "We provoked this war. Of course, it's [President Putin's] fault."

At least ex-Defence Secretary Ben Wallace came out against Farage. Ben Wallace - who oversaw the UK's response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022 - said Mr Farage "is a bit like that pub bore we've all met at the end of the bar" and often presents "very simplistic answers" to complex problems.(Like Brexit).

He also said the Reform UK leader had been "consistently wrong" on the issue, adding: "Putin isn't really invading Ukraine because of Nato expansion."
Mr Wallace noted that a 7,000-word essay penned by the Russian leader before the invasion began - that was later seen as outlining his rationale for starting the war - only mentions Nato in a single paragraph.

No wonder Tories bankrolled by Russian donors and Farage like Trump and his MAGA appeasing of Putin.

(not my words above, but totally agree).

In the meantime, no reply from the few Farage and Reform supporters on here. In the case of a real conflict erupting in Europe over Ukraine- will they support Trump and Putin, against Europe (and the UK).

Some of the most balanced views come from the BBC Un Spun comments. On rather late at night but I think well worth listening to.

To mum2three - Britain does put some of the people first - the wealthy ones. We will never see any improvement because of the class system.

Farage has just backed Trump and Putin against Zelensky saying they need to have elections. I am very sure that Farage is financed by Russian money and the Russians have been meddling and subverting our democracy for the last couple of decades. They've also been doing this to the USA.

What should we do with the quislings? Last war we had internment camps. We had 3 on the Isle of Man and the most loathed group held there was the British Fascists.

My father was put in a UK intermediate camp after fighting in finished Italy WII because he was Ukrainian.

The locals were OK with the majority of the internees. Except the British Fascists who were traitors. Like the Finns many nations regarded the Soviet Union as more of a threat than Hitler, which was kind of reasonable in a way for them. 2 very bad options.

What do I hope Farage will do?
I hope he will find some conscience and honesty and admit he was only ever in it all for himself, that he is a chancer who saw a real gap inthe political landscape and cynically and disingenuously filled in by telling lies and spreading ill will - or possibly was always being controlled by other puppet-masters.
Then give his ill gotten gains to charity and take himself off somewhere and disappear.
Of course, having a German passport, he could live in Europe. A chance he has denied many others and most importantly young British people.
That would do for starters!

I am pretty sure in Ukraine there is legislation to prevent elections in War time.

There is. Their parliament voted for Martial Law on a legal basis in 2022. Its not imposed by Zelensky, a fact that seems to be ignored by critics.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martial_law_in_Ukraine

"Modern-day martial law has been introduced two times in Ukraine; in 2018 for 30 days and an ongoing period since 24 February 2022 in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine that started on 24 February 2022."

BevSec I am pretty sure that all the people on here calling anyone that questions all the immigration, as being racists, would not dream of going to bed before locking their doors.

Probably the most stupid comment on this thread, well done love0c.

Just watched a bit of GB news on X with Farage's

"Nigel Farage has said Volodymyr Zelenskyy is "not a dictator" after being criticised for not speaking out against Donald Trump's attacks on Ukraine's president, but does think there should be a "timeline" for elections in the war-torn country."

On repeating the need for democratic elections, the interviewer reminded hm that the UK had no general elections between 1935 and 1945.......whoops....

Delila Thu 20-Feb-25 14:45:48

Didn’t see any mention of nefarious locals, though. Disingenuous comment.

Don't you realise you just made an extremely racist comment yourself? I lock my door at night, not for fear of immigrants, who have more to lose by committing crimes, but for fear of nefarious locals.

Yours is the same attitude as those who say "So you'd let one of them come and live in your spare room, would you? Ha, thought not!" without ever thinking whether they'd let a homeless British person into their own spare room.

Farage loves to spread ignorance, -even though he knows the truth. He continues to do so because it works!

As well as repeating Trump that Zelensky is de facto a dictator. As in says he isnt a dictator, then says there should be elections, ie he is a dictator,so make of that what you will!)

Farage has always admired Putin
Just last June '24

Nigel Farage says he ‘admired’ Putin for ‘control of running Russia

Gfplux Thu 20-Feb-25 13:59:55

Old man trump and farage are the same. They will just lie.
Yes just lie.
We should have realised.
Farage betrayed Britain by conspiring with Johnson to take the country out of the EU.
Listen to Farage now, just more lies.

What a strange thing to say.

What does immigration have to do with locking one's doors at night?
