Trump a commie? I have heard it all now. Tell that to the marines.grin

Russia isn't communist, either.

Trump and Putin are two of a kind, but Putin has more brain...

The thing is Trump is a loose cannon.
Putin knew what he had with Biden and could see which way he would jump. Trump is totally unpredictable.

I don't believe he's under Putin's influence, I think Putin doesn't trust him, Trump won't bend to him.
He will give him him "lip service" and he do what he wants regardless.

Trump wouldn’t know how to be a commie anymore than he knows how to be POTUS,
or even how to be a decent human being.
Putin is an organ grinder with a very useful monkey.

Trump doesn't have a game plan. He's exactly like Farage in that he exists purely for the campaigning/disrupting/rubbishing everyone else. When it comes to knuckling down, taking responsibility and actually getting things done he disappears into the ether. (See Farage who was never in the EU parliament and is never in Clacton). What is Trump himself actually doing? What has he personally done other than reinstate plastic straws so he can have his sucky drink? He's lolled at Mar a laro, spouted lies and provided a backdrop to his Elon Musk and his young son.

The only game plan in the US at the moment is coming from Musk, a James Bond villain style world domination plan loosely based on Project 25. When Trump said he knew nothing about Project 25 I think it might have been the truest thing he's ever said. He is a useful idiot, manipulated by people who are driven purely by greedy.

I suspect he is just thinking about the next deal. Making money at any cost to anyone else seems to be his motive. Comparisons with Hitler are superficial at best.

I read the other day, but can't remember who said it, that when Trump meets Putin he is like a small boy looking up to his all time super hero- in a very obvious and ridiculous manner.

Casdon Thu 20-Feb-25 08:43:28

If that’s his game plan it’s not working though GrannyGravy13.

I’m beginning to think he doesn’t really have a game plan at all, and that all he is doing is expecting the world to pander to his ego. He’s lost the plot, he even declared himself King yesterday.

Honestly, I think POTUS Trump is using the Ukraine - Russia war as a distraction from the problems in the USA.

If he shouts loud enough he is banking on his devoted followers believing that he is a great leader, who other governments respect and take notice of…

"a minor consideration if that person can make Trump look good on the world stage".
Shouldn't that be "a minor consideration if Trump thinks that person can make Trump look good on the world stage".
I don't think many other people think it does do they?

I think you knew that's what I meant.

And, yes - I do think some admire him - he has a small fanbase on GN. It might even be a larger one, not everyone makes their views known.

They might well see him as a 'peace-maker'.

If I believed in reincarnation, when you listen to Donald Trump, the name that springs to mind is Adolf Hitler. Trump seems to think that he only has to say something and that gives him the right to walk into someone elses country and take it over, overturn any laws that he doesnt like, behave in a way that with anyone else would have them certified and removed immediately to an asylum. The thought that anyone would have voted him in after seeing what he behaves like , just makes me wonder where their brains are - well if they have any!!

There is nothing wrong with Trump that a diagnosis of mental frailty and a personality disorder would not explain.

Unfortunately at the moment the inmate is running the assylum.

I think Trump would negotiate with the Devil himself if he thought it necessary to promote MAGA/ Donald Trump.

In 2019, he told a reporter from Russian TV (Russia 24 - state owned), that he thought Putin was a "great guy" then waffled a bit about a 'good meeting' and trade between the two 'great countries', ending with "he is a terrific person". Not to mention "talented"... and a "good person".

If it suits, he can find 'good' in any leader -whatever political system he presides over (Russia of course is now a 'democracy') so I'm sure he could find redeeming qualities in anyone - dictator, oligarch, megalomaniac - a minor consideration if that person can make Trump look good on the world stage.

Closet Communist ? That’s the best one I’ve heard . Fascist maybe, dictatorial definitely. Putin and Trump definitely ‘get’ each other - cast from the same mould, like it or not. I would have said Starmer is more Marxist if anyone.

Since he became Leader, Starmer has spent a great deal of time and effort moving the Labour party from a leftist to centrist position.
I would be really interested to know where you think you can now see examples of actual Marxist theory in action?

Having watched five minutes of Trump’s address/boasting last night, we came to the conclusion that we couldn’t understand a word he said and it was excruciating to listen. Trump’s style is full on American and we don’t know what he’s talking about most of the time.
A president for the American people and definitely not speaking to the UK. Their choice as we have ours ….. which we need to respect for the time being. Until we know what he’s talking about at least.

What century are you living in? Russia is not a communist state. Russian communism died in the 1980s.

Russia purports to be a multiparty democratic state, although it is in fact a dictatorship.

Russia has a ‘mixed economy’ in the same way that many other countries have a mix of public and private sectors.

This continual portrayal of Russia as communist is complete nonsense.

President Trump appears to have TWO puppet masters - Elon Musk and Vladimir Putin.
I thought it was just Musk's money giving him traction in White House affairs on the premise of Making America Great Again........but, on the current showing, Trump seems to have been a Communist all along, a solid disciple of all things Putin, willing to be manipulated by the Kremlin.

This is a curious position for an American President, supposedly the Leader of The Free World to allow himself to be in.

My thought is: what's in it for Donald Trump and do all those who voted for him endorse his current support for Vladimir Putin and, it must follow, Communism?
