Yes this is a plot to replace Zelensky with a more pro Russian choice, someone Putin can manipulate easily. In time is my guess that an expansionist Putin will have the whole of Ukraine within his borders.
And who knows where else he might look after this.
Trump is just a useful idiot.
Is a similar story with Bibi, his expansionist tendencies have been given the green light by Trump, so Gaza and the West Bank will soon be his, and Jordan should be very scared.

absolutely.. Putin wants Ukraine to be Russian, no longer a sovereign country and Trump wants the mineral resources.. I see a big falling out in the not too distant future.. I sincerely hope that Nato allows Ukraine to join..

If I were Zelensky I would now see Trump as the enemy, obviously the US are no longer part of the solution, and when Trump threatened Zelensky with the remark 'that there wouldn't be much of his land left', it sounded remarkably like sabre rattling. You don't do that to an ally, and I am sure Zelensky realises this.

I don't think they should, it a disgrace that Trump is even trying to make that deal and Putin should get out of Ukraine but Trump is weakening Zelensky's position.

“But they belong to Ukraine and their people, why should Trump or Putin have ANY of it for free?”

Because the arms supplied to Ukraine cost $hundreds of billions, the US wants some benefit for supporting them.

Nope I don't think that was the plan. Putin invaded in 2014 and got no push back keeping the territory he'd gained. He decided to try his luck again and I doubt anyone thought that Zelensky would become the inspirational leader that he is. So what Putin thought would be a pushover has turned into a real slog.
Trump is trying to get his hands on Ukraine's rare minerals. If he did cut a deal ( which I doubt) and managed to end the war, I wonder how happy he'd be to let Putin invade again or have a Putin puppet as president. There's still billions of dollars worth of resources in unoccupied Ukraine that would fuel US tech industries etc for many years.

But they belong to Ukraine and their people, why should Trump or Putin have ANY of it for free?

Who can stop them?

I think this is Putin’s plan, greedy Trump just wants 50% of the minerals etc from the land.

Just like he wants ALL of Gaza.

B****r the citizens of these countries.

Trump, Musk, Putin and Netanyahu
don’t care about their people, they care about power, money and themselves.

Frankly, they are no better than the terrorists they decry.

eazybee Thu 20-Feb-25 16:57:35

I doubt if Trump has thought that far ahead, but Putin certainly has.

Notagranyet24 Thu 20-Feb-25 16:52:25

I remember it being said that Zelensky only just escaped being captured by the Russians when they invaded. So tough for him and Ukrainians and scary for the rest of us.

Lovetopaint037 Thu 20-Feb-25 16:42:23

Poor man. He has worked so hard for Ukraine and now this from the so called leader of the Free World. Disinformation it is not. Evil personified is more like it.

OldFrill Thu 20-Feb-25 16:30:30

Blindingly obvious

Lovetopaint037 Thu 20-Feb-25 16:26:55

Thinking Putin wants this hero out in order to put his choice in his place. The outrageous lies spouted by Trump are surely a signal that this is exactly the plan. Kalensky has held his country together. Trump is goading him in an attempt to promote an election which can’t happen as the war is ongoing but also to force one so the corrupt connivances of Putin can weaken Ukraine.
