I thoroughly enjoyed the scene. Trump speaks his mind...no pussyfooting about with this man. How refreshing after Biden and Obama....sucking up and appeasing.

Once again apart from being a Malicious Toddler with a tantrum, Trump LIED AGAIN. Ukraine has NOT been given $350 …it was more like $120! It was given freely. Europe combined has actually provided 60% of funds, etc to Ukraine, to the USA’s 40% . He LIES LIKE HE BREATHES. Zelensky has thanked the USA profusely and often. The so called Reporter who questioned Zelensky about his clothes is The AWFUL Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Boyfriend, to stir things up.
Trump wants to carve up Ukraines assets with Russia. He wants the minerals etc for himself. Just like he envisages Trump Hotels in Gaza! The man is a Snake-oil Salesman without an empathetic bone in his body.
I bet he’s furious Zelensky got to meet our King. Social climbing, Power hungry OIK that he is!

Didn’t Starmer spend yesterday whipping up financial and military support from the EU so enabling Trump to dump Ukraine? That’s good cooperation between Starmer and Trump for sure.
Trump always has the option of playing along with Russia against China. It could be worse.

Why not come straight out and say you admire Trump and have no respect for Zelensky or the other heads of state working with Starmer on supporting Ukraine and taking a greater responsibility for defence in Europe.

The USA has gradually realised its role as the policeman of the world was ineffective and expensive. It’s a reasonable spin off if that realisation, to expect European countries to increase its defence spending.

This could so easily have been discussed diplomatically, but Trump loves the theatre of showing off. His narcissistic personality craves attention, at any cost. The spectacle of him and the bully boy Vance shamed America.

Ok I’m not a forensic psychiatrist but I’m a trained Observor and diagnosing Trump isn’t beyond me 🙏🏽

I think, to witness the grovelling downfall of Zelensky signing a document which gave no protection against Russia and proved to the world that Trump can deliver to Russia as pre-agreed.

It didn't work out that way: whatever the Russians have said, it wasn't really what Trump wanted, which is why they are so cross and even more dramatic now.

I don't believe Trump had anything concrete to offer Zelensky.

He appeared to think that Zelensky signing the deal allowing the US access to the minerals was sufficient guarantee that there would be no further aggression from Russia, who wouldn't attack Ukraine if "our people" were there.

That's about it.

Not really much of a deal.

Zelensky was set up to fail. Vance was there to prod him along to failure.

And now Zelensky is expected to grovel an apology to this inarticulate bully who turned the meeting into a pastiche of the reality-show he once hosted. And where he should have remained. It made "great television" then - and now, as he remarked after Zelensky left.

Despicable.

On balance Iam64 I shall always favour the politician who is looking for a quicker end to the many deaths sustained so far. The idea of British boots on the ground is not sustainable either.

It’s upto us now to plough our resources into this and after all, 3 years is quite a long time and Trump may wish to use his resources in a different geo political dimension to benefit his own country first. Why not say enough is enough?

Trump does not care for his country.
He is looking to line the pockets of himself ,
his family and his billionaire buddies that paid to elect him . Elon is already getting contracts for his various companies .
This is why he wants those minerals to satisfy Elons needs for his Starlink , Tesla and his space company . Same goes for Bezos and his space company . Why does the USA need ( including NASA ) three space companies ???

That’s the real deal .

I don't think anyone wants the war to go on any longer, or for there to be more deaths, but ending a war is no easy task, and right now there are no real assurances that Putin will keep to a cease fire or that Ukraine will keep the mineral rich part of the country that Trump and undoubtedly Putin, have their eyes on.
And there are also no real assurances that Putin won't see this as a victory if he is given Ukrainian territory, and continue to expand into other countries in the area.
Also, the idea being floated of Zelenskyy resigning and a new man taking over is in my opinion surely a plot by Putin to put in a pro-Russian president so that Putin can rule the land by proxy.
Too many ifs and buts for the war to end without far more negotiations, including both Zelenskyy and Putin, without Trump, but a third party without a vested interest in the result of the war.

I think Trumps utter failure to do what he fondly imagined - be the great peacemaker he promised to do before the election, earn his place in history - has made him bitter, aggresive, blaming others, and to top it all, claim some kind of victimhood....

when a calm, strong diplomatic set of moves could have taken peace so much closer, or at least a measured and thought through transition, working with Europe as the US isnt prepared to fund Ukraine - would've earned him respect.

Vance said Zelenskyy disrespected the Oval Office - what about when Musk was in there wearing casual clothes, a baseball cap and accompanied by his nose picking little child!

Speaks his mind? He can't even read an autocue correctly. The man is a bumbling buffoon. I have never seen a so called 'leader' prance about ignoring questions, throwing tantrums, wagging his finger in someones face and spitting his dummy when things do not go his way. He and Vance embarrassed themselves and the whole of America with his words and actions. As for that Fox reporter demanding to know why Zalenskyy didn't wear a suit, words fail me. They set Zalenskyy up for failure. Unfortunately, with the world looking on they failed miserably.

I don’t think that’s how it was Pascal. Trump deliberately made Zelensky his enemy through both his narrative before they met last Friday, calling him a dictator. He then bkatantly set out to publicly humiliate him. Zelenskyy did not take any aggressive action against Trump , he just stood his ground.

Surely the best peace solution is one that guarantees a lasting peace rather than one which rewards the aggressor and allows him to re-arm for a further invasion. In addition to that, any peace deal must respect Ukraines right to sit at the table to discuss what is acceptable to them. They are the victims here, not Russia. It's Ukraine that is losing the lives of it's young not us, don't they have a right to put their point of view? The bottom line is there can be no peace unless there is a guarantee that Putin won't invade again. Goodness knows how that can be achieved but at least Europe has to try because if it persuades Ukraine to accept anything less, it puts the whole of Europe at risk in the future.

I too think that Trump, Musk and Vance and possibly the Russian journalist who put in his two-penn'orth as well, planned to push Zelensky into losing his temper, shouting at them and storming out. Then Zelensky would look in the wrong and they could lower their offer, or demand more for their money. (Anyone who has had a house buyer find multiple faults in a property, and insist on lowering their offer, even when it is clearly stated in the estate agent's description that it is already well below the market price and a bargain, will recognise the ploy.)That could be the method that one or all of them use in their non- political business dealings, and that is how they made their millions.

Of course, if the whole deal were cancelled by Zelensky as a result of not getting the support that was promised from the US more than a year ago, and of being treated as a verbal punchbag for reminding them of the promise, Trump & co would no longer have to try to persuade Putin to agree to a ceasefire so that he could make good his boast that he could stop the war in a week. I don't think Putin is a pushover to bullying, he has had too much practice at it himself.
