I am still hoping for the raw data.

Small boat migrants to the UK are 36% UP on this time last year.
(235 Posts)“Smash the Gangs”.
Not working, nine months in.
And the weather will be getting even more conducive to such crossings soon. Huge numbers are ‘expected’ this summer.
We have no effective deterrent in place and this whole debacle astounds me. What did Labour THINK would happen when Keir Starmer scrapped Rwanda? Mind you, the government are contemplating setting up ‘migrant hubs’ so they must realise the gravity now of this situation.
Big money is being made here. These international gang masters who facilitate these crossings are not going to give up their very lucrative business!
Back to the drawing board Labour. Come up with SOMETHING. Uk taxpayers money is being squandered in the meantime on housing them and looking after all their needs.
What do you think about it all?
As I understand it the raw data is used to compile the weekly, monthly and quarterly statistics from the daily return copied above.
www.gov.uk/government/collections/immigration-statistics-quarterly-release
It is then produced in monthly and quarterly tables, as per attachment.
I have already looked there Casdon.
As you say you need the info collated reliably.
It breaks it down week by week.
You would actually have to add up the weeks to be honest.
I was hoping someone had actually done that.
Me too!

fgt I am not sure where you think I have dismissed illegal immigration.
However, what many on this thread are it seems conveniently forgetting, is that we are still signed up to the international law on asylum seekers and refugees.
So by that definition, very few of those accessing the U.K. by a rubber dingy will in fact be illegal immigrants, but in fact someone seeking asylum from various hardships. These arrivals will be examined and decisions made accordingly. Those who are deemed not asylum seekers will be returned, and indeed that is exactly what has been happening at an ever increasing level - in fact it rose by 36% in the last 6 months of 2024.
So immigration to the U.K. is by those who are coming to fill various jobs/career paths, and those who are hoping to live a life free from torture and death etc. are a tiny % of the overall total, but a % that we have both a moral and legal duty to deal with in a humane and civilised way.
We are not living in Trumpland!
Very well said. People don't seem to understand that asylum seekers are not illegal immigrants. They get here by irregular means, which seems to be the only way they can, but once here and asylum is sought, they are legal.

I have spent this evening with my friend who is from Tanzania. She says she has lived here now for 25 years and in all that time she has never had a visit from any of her family as they are unable to get visas to come for a holiday.
She is furious that people can just come over in rubber dinghies and get everything handed to them when they are here illegally. She says that we are a laughing stock and in Tanzania they look after their own people before taking in others and treating them better than their own.
When she came here with her British husband she did everything legally so has no sympathy whatsoever for illegal immigrants.I am surprised about the visa issue as I have a neighbour whose family largely reside in Zimbabwe and they visit him very frequently.
The same applies to people from another African state in my daughter’s village.
I wonder why your friend’s family have such difficulties? Perhaps there is a reason about which you are not aware?
I wouldn’t take too much notice if the idea that we are a laughing stock, or that illegal immigrants get treated better than British people. I’m sure that after some thought you would come to the conclusion that neither is correct.
Her family are very respectable.
Her niece is a medical student. She was refused.
Her nephew was also refused he is studying Accountancy at Uni.
Other family members have been refused.
They just want a couple of weeks holiday with her.
Her MP got involved but no joy there.
She provided term dates to which they had to return to Uni and said she would get them return tickets as proof that they would not overstay their holiday.
I don’t like the tone of your last paragraph. We ARE a laughing stock now and it has been widely reported that new houses being built will go to migrants. What other country would give illegals all that we do? That’s why they all flock here!
Of course it is Primrose53 what else can be the draw? France has said as much several times.Immigrants from all sorts of countries make beeline for the UK the land of milk and honey.
Housing, education and free medical care and many benefits.
Stay in France, they say ‘ why would we?!’
And no, it isn’t simply that they speak English already as most hardly have a word of it.

A great deal of social housing flats in London, high rise amongst others are lived in by foreign nationals. That includes successful asylum seekers and immigrants granted leave to stay.
To say that they have no effect on the housing market for social housing is a nonsense.
There’s definitely something more to your friend’s family story than you have been told Primrose53, as that’s not the norm. Relatives sponsored a young boy in Tanzania years ago to help him through college, he is now an adult, he must be around 40, and he has been over to see them in the UK several times in the last few years, on a tourist visa.
At least one hotel chain is making unprecedented profits by housing immigrants with the cost borne by Government, oops sorry, the taxpayer
Rwanda wasn't a way of processing asylum applications to Britain. It was a one-way ticket.
Rwanda was cruel
When will the govt (any govt) wake up and realise that these boats have to be stopped. As a country we are small with finite resources which currently are being spread ever more thinly. If we did not have these boat people coming in almost daily ( set to increase with the warmer weather) then we would have less pressure on the health service, housing, education and many other services which the majority of us have spent years paying taxes towards.
The Navy should patrol the Channel and turn the boats back. These immigrants have passed through several 'safe' countries before attempting to cross to the UK, but only Britain is stupid enough to give them bed, board and spending money!! I, for one, an absolutely sick if seeing these ILLEGAL immigrants wandering out streets. They are from a different culture with different values and will never integrate with us. Many are criminals running from their crimes in their homeland. Meanwhile, the UK taxpayers are funding them whilst many UK citizens are struggling!! These immigrants are not welcome, when will the Government get the message??
What evidence do you have that "Many are criminals running from their crimes in their homeland". Or that "and will never integrate with us".
This is pure nasty "tarring all with the same brush". You are ignoring the fact that 95% of immigrants own our country are legal, are working with us, are not criminals, to further a racist agenda.
A reminder...
"No one puts their children in a boat unless the water is safer than the land"
no one leaves home unless
home is the mouth of a shark
you only run for the border
when you see the whole city running as well
your neighbours running faster than you
breath bloody in their throats
the boy you went to school with
who kissed you dizzy behind the old tin factory
is holding a gun bigger than his body
you only leave home
when home won't let you stay.
no one leaves home unless home chases you
fire under feet
hot blood in your belly
it's not something you ever thought of doing
until the blade burnt threats into
your neck
and even then you carried the anthem under
your breath
only tearing up your passport in an airport toilets
sobbing as each mouthful of paper
made it clear that you wouldn't be going back.
you have to understand,
that no one puts their children in a boat
unless the water is safer than the land
no one burns their palms
under trains
beneath carriages
no one spends days and nights in the stomach of a truck
feeding on newspaper unless the miles travelled
means something more than journey.
no one crawls under fences
no one wants to be beaten
pitied
no one chooses refugee camps
or strip searches where your
body is left aching
or prison,
because prison is safer
than a city of fire
and one prison guard
in the night
is better than a truckload
of men who look like your father
no one could take it
no one could stomach it
no one skin would be tough enough
the
go home blacks
refugees
dirty immigrants
asylum seekers
sucking our country dry
niggers with their hands out
they smell strange
savage
messed up their country and now they want
to mess ours up
how do the words
the dirty looks
roll off your backs
maybe because the blow is softer
than a limb torn off
or the words are more tender
than fourteen men between
your legs
or the insults are easier
to swallow
than rubble
than bone
than your child body
in pieces.
i want to go home,
but home is the mouth of a shark
home is the barrel of the gun
and no one would leave home
unless home chased you to the shore
unless home told you
to quicken your legs
leave your clothes behind
crawl through the desert
wade through the oceans
drown
save
be hunger
beg
forget pride
your survival is more important
no one leaves home until home is a sweaty voice in your ear
saying-
leave,
run away from me now
i dont know what i've become
but i know that anywhere
is safer than here.

Thank you👏👏👏
^ but once here and asylum is sought, they are legal.
I wouldnt mind clearing that up actually.
At which precise moment do they become legal?
"No one puts their children in a boat unless the water is safer than the land
Safer than France? Or Greece? For some, yes.
It doesnt need to be the Uk.
No political will I assume, to sort this all out in Europe.
I am begining to wonder what Europe does sort out together.
I am getting increasingly fed up/annoyed with Europe.
Europe doesnt work.
NATO hopefully does and will.

Asylum seekers are never illegal. That is what people fail to understand.
I know it seems to be fashionable these days to ignore the law, but we do thankfully have a PM that respects the law.
Asylum seekers have the right in law to decide in which country they wish to seek asylum. The law says absolutely nothing about the first safe country etc.
This are all misinformation, which people believe.
People on this thread who don’t seem to have any problem whatsoever with asylum seekers - are you happy for the situation to continue?
Do you have any concerns at all?

Your post of 7.44am this morning talked about illegal immigrants.
Which is part of the reason I asked the question.
