What was he saying about a newspaper that he doesn’t read (the New York Times I assume?) saying that his election was the most consequential in American history as if it was meant in a positive way. Which he thinks it was.
😂😂😂 😡
This continues the record and discussions on what Trump is doing. The previous thread was on

The last post was from imaround telling us what books have been banned from a Naval Library:
"Over 300 books banned at the US Naval Academy.

What is his long term aim ? A dictatorship passing down the line to his chosen replacement ? Does he think what he is doing now will turn out good for the USA in the long run ? I don’t think he cares about the rest of the world at all. He claims to be a Christian, though - maybe he should have another shot at reading his New Testament. I am rapidly reaching the conclusion that he is in fact a genuine madman.

One keeps thinking he can't shock you anymore then....it gets beyond bizarre and above all, how can intelligent Republicans listen to the garbage...
I’m listening to his so called ‘speech’. I don’t know what to say
. I honestly can’t believe what I'm seeing and hearing…
I don't feel knowledgeable enough to contribute to this important thread. However I follow it closely.
Thank you GN'rs for voicing your views and insights on what's happening in the USA - I'm learning. Thank you imaround for making us aware of the horror that's happening in your country.

Oh no it's not you. Some days it is just more overwhelming than others. I'll be back later with a better attitude.
Fortunately, the American people are not happy with Trump’s performance to date.
This from a CNN poll:
Trump’s 41% approval rating is the lowest for any newly elected president at 100 days dating back at least to Dwight Eisenhower – including Trump’s own first term
Aw imaround, big hugs.
It's a fine balance posting about distressing things and speculation about military rule and possible catastrophising. I'm sorry if anything I've said speculating is making it worse.
Its valuable for us to see what happens if particular policies are followed that some in the UK would pursue!
I am here, just don't really know what to say or do right now to be honest. We are staring down a barrel and cant stop it. Ill be back when my mood improves.
I thought Jeff and Don were besties?
Trump is accusing Amazon of being hostile.
Reason
Amazon are to list separately the tariff charge of each item. Bit like VAT I guess.
What on earth did that fool expect?
Oh and while we are at it - I fervently hope that those responsible for running the Golg Open in the U.K., turn down Trumps request for it to be held one of his golf courses.
I do wonder how far the military will back him against against ordinary US citizens if it came to martial law.
I mean, the soldiers and navy are after all peoples relatives, husbands, wives, family, neighbours. People greatly respect the military, but how far would this go?
I think Trump would step back from such a confrontation. Before it reached that stage he would lose more Republican support in congress
It doesn't take a physical invasion by enemy troops to disable a country as large as the US.
The numbers of large cargo ships docking in USA ports have dropped dramatically - that means less trucks snd drivers needed to deliver the stuff to the rest of the country, and empty shelves in the supermarkets.
It won’t be long before the USA is in recession - unless Trump reverses his madness.
Trump has frequently mentioned using the military to control the population.
He will live to regret this decision.
I recommend everyone to follow that link and read it. This is the backing for him to carry out all the other decrees without consultation with Congress that he has issued. This empowers the police and the army to treat any other legal or judicial authority or individual as acting criminally if they don't obey an executive order. Totalitarianism and dictatorship, backed by military muscle.

A couple of new executive orders out today. First appearances, it looks like he is authorizing the military to help combat crime.

He specifically mentions having the law enforcement officers " focus on ending crime, not pursuing harmful, illegal race- and sex-based “equity” policies. This in a nation where, as well as about half the population being women, there are a very large number whose forebears arrived there (many against their will) from other countries and are of different races, colours and faiths.
He openly plans using the military as police and criminalising state officials who resist any of his decrees. That is fraught with danger. Once he has that power, how do you take it away?
Whoever brainwashed him and used his fantasies to indoctrinate him has pulled the right strings to have him set half of America against the other half. I predict martial law within a year, and a civil war in the near future unless he is stopped. The price of stopping him could be high, but nothing compared to the cost of letting him continue.
The huge majority of people regardless of religion, nationality, occupation etc, etc "don't support paedophiles". Your point is???

Vance is a fairly recent convert to Catholicism. I do wonder how he reconciles his political actions and pronouncements with his religious beliefs. Apparently, before his very brief audience with the Pope, he had a meeting with the Vatican's secretary of state, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, and foreign minister, Archbishop Paul Gallagher.
Vance says “they discussed their shared religious faith, Catholicism in the United States, the plight of persecuted Christian communities around the world, and President Trump’s commitment to restoring world peace.”
The Vatican’s release, however, said the pair had “an exchange of opinions on the international situation, especially regarding countries affected by war, political tensions and difficult humanitarian situations, with particular attention to migrants, refugees, and prisoners.”
Will his faith change his politics? I very much doubt it!
Most Americans dont support pedophiles
The second EO targets sanctuary cities.

IMO he is preparing to use the military to control an increasingly more hostile public about the same time that grocery shelves are empty.
The DOJ has stated that ICE can enter people's homes without a warrant, in violation of the 4th Amendment. They are arresting judges.
I really hope I am wrong.
