Did they evade taxes to acquire that much wealth?

Women couldn’t earn their wealth , seems they join harems or find a wealthy penis waver ?

No, if you read my post I was answering Maybee's post which was, I think, referring to extremely wealthy people Jeff Bezos who owns Blue Orgin.
Some of the people who went paid for their own flights, others were paid for.

I think Bezos is very good at tax evasion.

Did they evade taxes to acquire that much wealth?

Of course not. Women earn.

Women are allowed to spend their excess money as they choose.

Not clear who 'they' indicated.

I assume Bezos pays taxes legally owed.

Does he avoid as much tax as possible? Of course he does.

I asked a question about extremely wealthy people.
Why do posters twist what others say?

There seem to be one or two Katy Perry fans on here!
I have no idea if Perry pays her due taxes or not or if she donates to charity but it just goes to show that anyone can become rich even with a bare modicum of talent and plenty of chutzpah.

It doesn't mean we have to take her and her friends seriously, unlike the women scientists and astronauts.

Anniebach Thu 17-Apr-25 17:06:26

Agree, we don’t have to take her and her friends seriously, yet there is a need to mock their figures, hair and talents , or are their talents reserved for a waving penis ?

Apologies.

I wasn't attempting to twist your question. 'They' was unclear to me. I've no idea who any of these people are - I read. They seem to be women accomplished in their work, who perhaps earn well.

I've no idea at all where willy waving comes happened?

Of course we don't have to take them seriously, but they are talented women.

I've no problem with people enjoying an adventure. I believe 52 people have flown above the Kármán line - nothing to do with willy wavers.

I've been thi king about this for days trying to figure out my feelings on it.

These 2 women are now saying they are astronauts. At the same time that Trumps team us removing actual female astronaut accomplishments from NASA websites.

It isn't so much that they did it and paid for it. It is because there were 2 actual aerospace engineers on that flight of celebrities and people are barely talking about them. With what is happening in the US right now, this feels like a "let them eat cake" moment at the same time #eattherich is trending.

They were literally space tourists who spent 11 minutes off of earth. That is all. Some people want too celebrate that, but I am seeing a lot more that don't. Both opinions are valid.

I am ready for them to go back to their out of touch rich lives and stop telling us how awesome they are for doing something that anyone with millions of dollars can pay for. We have bigger issues right now to deal with.

That pretty much sums up my thoughts on it; I’ve been chewing it over in my head since it happened, too.

Anniebach Thu 17-Apr-25 20:10:40

Did they tell because they were asked ? Did they start this thread ? I have no interest in them, knew nothing of them until
I read this thread. What has their figure , hair, who they had once been married to have any thing to do with their few minutes in space ?

imaround Thu 17-Apr-25 20:22:37

May: One of the scientists on that flight is a Nobel Peace Prize Nominee who trained to become an astronaut until she was sexually assaulted. She then redirected her focus to changing laws for sexual assualt victims in Congress, which she was successful at.

Both Katy Perry amd Gayle King have worked very hard and achieved great things and they should be proud. This is not that.

If they had done it, said it was fun and moved on, I don't think they would have had the push back they do right now.

The only history they made was being part of a group of rich women who paid for space tourism. Nothing wrong with that honestly. But don't try to be something you aren't, astronauts.

Agreed. Storm in a teacup.

Valid, they're not astronauts.

I just ran across this article that is a really good read on this topic if anyone is interested. A good look at one side of the discussion.

Read it and agreed with it. Tokenism is exactly the word for this silly willy-waving project, all about how easily women can be manipulated by very rich men.

Anniebach Fri 18-Apr-25 11:33:09

Did they claim to be Astronauts?

Gayle King, yes she said she's an astronaut.
Katy Perry, yes. she said she's an astronaut.
Lauran Sanchez is a pilot.
Aisha Bowe, was a NASA rocket scientist.
Amanda Nguyen, worked on NASA shuttle.
Kerianne Flynn, a film producer.

Accomplished women.

No, the all woman 'crew' was merely publicity for Blue Origin.

How did you come to that conclusion, Anniebach?

No-one has said that or anything like it.
