Israel to "conquer" Gaza

Qatar is now offering to fund Trump via a $4 million plane that he'd keep when he leaves office. I wonder what that's buying the Qataris? There won't be any decisions made for moral reasons while Trump is president and he'll change relationships in a moment if he sees a profit. Will he continue to back Israel with billions of dollars of weapons if he's taking handouts from Qatar? He's signed a deal with the Saudis which includes a massive arms deal. He's making friends with Iran, has removed sanctions from Syria. Who knows which Middle Eastern country will hold power in the future. Trump's challenging the balance of power that's been the norm and he'll see Gaza as a minor irritation and possibly Israel as a drain unless he can get an empty building plot. My guess is he'll let Israel completely flatten Gaza whilst he looks the other way.
I listened to a podcast yesterday on The Story, Times newspaper series which I generally find well balanced. It was about settler violence on the West Bank and the people who made the Oscar winning documentary 'No other country " Worth a listen and just 30 mins of your time.

So Trump is lifting sanctions on Syria and visiting the country. Syria and Israel have been at war for decades.

Is there a change happening or is it just Trump bumbling along?

We can be pretty sure that US aid will continue if Israel is attacked by other countries, Trump is trying to bring Syria and Lebanon into the western sphere of influence like Jordan and Saudi.
With governments that can control terrorists Syria and Lebanon will be much less threat to Israel, they will get aid in the same way Jordan and Egypt does.

Hamas was democratically elected then murdered the opposition, became a dictatorship and diverted much of the aid to build up arms to attack Israel, Qatar is not stupid they knew exactly what Hamas was planning.

Qatar have always supported the Palestinians and its struggle for sovereignty. They are both Sunni Muslims, it works towards a Palestinian independent state, alongside other Sunni countries like Iran and Turkey to assist that cause.

It has consistently funded Hamas, for various reasons, firstly because it was the democratically elected leadership of the Gaza peoples, and second it has funded reconstruction and help for poor Palestinians to the tune of billions of $. It funnels billions through The Red Crescent. Much of the funding carried out by Qatar received Israeli backing

Annie, Yes Hamas are Palestinians as was Jesus who was also born a Jew.. You don't bomb a nation because of a group of terrorists, in fact you don't bomb anyone, all people matter and their demise and destruction touches everyone.
IRA were Irish, the majority not. Everywhere has groups that oppose the views of the ordinary population. We don't destroy the people. Wars don't solve a problem, it shelves it. However the war ends the feeling and repercussions won't.

I think WW2 solved the problem of Nazis and Japanese aggression, it’s appeasement that shelves problems if Israel were to give into Hamas, fighting would start again in a few years.
There has to be a decisive end to Gaza, Hamas could end it today

Israel is targeting Hamas control Centres which they choose to site beneath hospitals it is not terror bombing civilians. It’s the UK and US that did that in WW2 deliberately fire bombing cities to demoralize civilians.

But Palestinians are not Hamas Annie and that's an important distinction. It's desperately sad seeing the almost complete destruction of Gaza. The pictures of dead and starving children are dreadful and there must be very few of us who are not sickened by them. You've asked several times why it's just women and children and of course it's not but pictures of dead and emaciated men would just draw comments of "they're all Hamas anyway!"
Like you I also think Hamas makes sure it's members are fed and their families probably have better access to food but what a perfect way to recruit and retain men to their organisation! This is why it's not only criminally cruel to blockade food, it's also totally counter intuitive! It's driving Palestinians into terrorism as a way to survive! If you are a Gazan civilian every day is about surviving, watching your family suffer and constantly being told where to move to. It's an appalling way to live and die but Gazans have been used to suffering and suffering breeds terrorism!

Israel's 'targeted attacks' seem a lot more selective when the targets are in other sovereign States, rather than Gaza. I wonder why that is?

Thats a total of over $800 billion a year.

But as Oreo said, you cant believe what Trumps intentions are from one day to the next.

However, a key point of the plan as in herding to the South was US delivery of Aid so its a crucial wait and see.

I think we can read into this that all governments now are realising that they need to wean themselves off asking for any help, military or otherwise from Trumps US .
Trump says what he thinks the other side want him to say (when in Israel, all the obvious nonsense about building luxury hotels and casinos in Gaza) then he goes away knowing he has no intention of doing anything of the sort.
All leaders of countries must now know he does zilch for free and just talks big.

Reputed to have one of the best intelligence system in the world ? If not they wouldn’t know would they ?
