Israel to "conquer" Gaza

No, Israel does not want them all dead.

I think there are confusions about what genocide means, ie it includes erasing a people's identity and means by which to live, which is happening.

What Cadenza and Silverlining said is whats important. People lives not disagreements on definitions. How can the people of Gaza be able to live their lives.

Israel has long been protected from any criticism by Europe and the rest of the world, whatever it has done, because of what happened in WW2.
I think that may change in future.

I the previous documentary I thought the same , then it was said the witnesses were from Hamas families, this was true, BBC apologised and withdrew the documentary

It was agreed by both sides that hostages would be released weeks ago but Israel then changed its mind, refused to follow through and started bombing Gaza again as well as stopping all aid to the palistinian men women and children trapped there.
This did not need to happen if Israel had not broken the agreement.

Tens of thousands of children have died in Gaza yet it still doesn't seem to be enough blood shed. The reaction or rather inaction of a lot of the world's leaders is shameful. Yet it carries on.

What The Settlers showed was clear intention of some Israelis to occupy the West Bank - government approved. There is no denying this - its a fact

Although it is a different area to Gaza the "thinking" behind it surely shows intent - which is that it is valid to occupy and indeed take over all Palestinian Lands?

So when we see threats of turning the south of Gaza into a Ghetto is it any wonder clarification is needed for Gazans about their future?

Yes I;watched and gave my opinion, so biased , but it was BBC,
recently they gave the documentary which was quickly withdrawn.

I think it quite possible that in all the forced moves, and all the bombing, some hostages have been killed. Possibly without trace, in the chaos. More may have been alive if the Israelis had not resumed bombing when the cease fire broke down.

I criticise both Hamas and the Israeli regime for letting that happen, and that is reflected in the demonstrations for the hostages in Israel and the rise of speaking up against Hamas. There are also limits on how many times families are happy with their sons and daughter being called up for military service.

Some Gazan's are still trying to locate family, or find out if they are alive.

Forcing all Gazans to an enclave into the south is a ghetto, it cuts off any possibility of farming or earning a living and they are apparently to exist off food distributed by US owned and operated (mercenaries) security companies. That's an occupation.

We've known all along that Trump wants to "clear Gaza" and he holds the purse strings for a huge % of funding Israel's military.

Yes, its extremists: except that Trump now has claimed a stake in it and its not as a peacemaker balancing the different interests.

Hamas and Netanyahu are equally evil.

The Holocaust was genocide. Starving the Palestinians to death and refusing the supply of medical aid is genocide. So in this respect, they are the same.

Return of hostages or their bodies , Hamas returns dead bodies

Do any of us (and Netanyahu) actually believe that there are any hostages left, surely those not returned are now already dead, either at the hands of Hamas, or some surely must have perished under Israeli fire?

This is still about Hamas refusing to return the hostages they hold.
Nothing humane or legal on either side.

Hamas are holding the whole of the Gaza population to ransom, and the Israeli government is using that to ‘justify’ taking the actions they have long wanted to make.

Meanwhile Palestinians are turning against Hamas and Israelies are demonstrating against their government. Jamesandjon this has little to do with the people of either place, just the extremists.

Hamas could comply with Israeli requests but their actions do not entitle Israel to starve a nation’s entire population, that is inhumane. This is a war crime.

It seems that many of the people of Israel are very unhappy at the inhumanity of their government. I listened to an interesting programme about Cyprus yesterday tellling of .the large number of Israelis leaving their homes and buying properties on the island. I wonder how many Israelis have emigrated in the last year.

I think the people of Gaza deserve to know what the outcomes are supposed to be. Presenting an option of occupation and no other, just when some Palestinians are speaking up against Hamas, is pushing them back into the control of Hamas.

a lot can happen in the week before Trump comes: I hope that we'll hear more from people in Israel itself as opposed to the likes of Smotrich but my fears are genuinely that Netanyahu (backed by Trump) really intends occupation.

Just issuing an ultimatum will not bring peace. Surely an "if you give up the hostages then".....is necessary for any negotiations.

It’s not about returning hostages now it’s about occupying Gaza and destroying Hamas.

The comparisons are stated on almost every thread , as is
genocide which is intent to destroy ethnic,racial or religious
groups , no mention of defence against terrorists
