Just that really.

So few around these days. He is to be admired for his humanity and his moral courage.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 19-May-25 09:30:31

So much integrity that he posted an anti semitic trope on his social media, only withdrawing it and apologising when someone pointed it out to him.

Along with his tweet two years ago accusing the Conservatives of using language akin to the Nazi’s

Sparklefizz Mon 19-May-25 09:32:22

Exactly, GrannyGravy13.
I can't stand the man and don't think he's a man of integrity at all - he's just a virtue signaller.

Smileless2012 Mon 19-May-25 09:33:16

Indeed GrannyGravy and was happy to be paid goodness how much to be a part of the world cup when it was held in Qatar.

Anniebach Mon 19-May-25 09:34:01

Moral courage !

Smileless2012 Mon 19-May-25 09:35:19

We watched a clip from the tv programme 'The Assembly' when he was asked about the world cup being held in Qatar and his waffling answer was embarrassing.

Samsara1 Mon 19-May-25 09:36:29

I agree with Sparklefizz. Not impressed by him at all.

Moral courage !

Self serving, virtue signalling hypocrite.

Anniebach Mon 19-May-25 09:37:44

Moral courage for his antisemitic post

Whitewavemark2 Mon 19-May-25 09:39:28

That’s a no then 😄😄😄

Anniebach Mon 19-May-25 09:49:12

Your O/P was a joke !

eazybee Mon 19-May-25 09:53:59

One may smile , and smile, and be a villain.

MrsQuigley Mon 19-May-25 10:00:09

Rather hoping that when he has gone the Beeb will have lots more money to produce more of their excellent drama series.

Oreo Mon 19-May-25 10:53:00

He’s an arrogant man who believed he could say anything and flouted the BBC’s rules once too often. They never act fast enough in my opinion to get rid of overpaid jerks.

Mr Walkers aka the crisp salesman.

I do think certain right wing MPs sound a little Nazi like with their choice of language.

In terms of the (alleged) anti-Semitic trope, I didn’t read it, but I would just point out that 1) he apologised and immediately removed it, 2) he’s stepping down from his job role earlier than planned and 3) If one posts or says anything in defence of the Palestinian people accusations pour out stating the comments are either supporting terrorism or are anti-Semitic.

I like Lineker and do believe him to be a man of integrity.

RosesandLilac Mon 19-May-25 11:02:41

You must be joking Whitewavemark! He’s an obnoxious individual, over opinionated, overpaid and arrogant.

Magenta8 Mon 19-May-25 11:04:51

He's been given a red card by the BBC.grin

LauraNorderr Mon 19-May-25 11:05:22

He has lovely legs though

Oreo Mon 19-May-25 11:08:03

If he wanted to be free to tell the world his opinions he shouldn’t be working for the BBC.They already gave him chances. He’s earned so much money now that he won’t care he has had to leave.
He’s learned that free speech doesn’t mean you can say anything you like without any consequences. Particularly when you work for a supposedly impartial company.
Glad he’s gone.

Doodledog Mon 19-May-25 11:16:47

His comments on transwomen in sport don't make me warm to him.

Anniebach Mon 19-May-25 11:17:21

He apologised and removed his antisemitic post after many complaints

Smileless2012 Mon 19-May-25 11:21:45

He should never have made it in the first place.

They don't make me warm to him either Doodledog.

25Avalon Mon 19-May-25 11:33:37

This isn’t Match of the Day, but Laugh of the Day. Man of integrity!
