Gaza and Aid

Whilst I accept that we, in the UK, are not getting the full news stories from Gaza, I don’t believe the aid agencies are “lying” or “misrepresenting” the current dire situation of the Palestinian people.

According to various news reports, from several sources, including aid agencies, 40,000 children and babies will die in the near future if they don’t receive the food they need.

This is not an anti-Semitic post, nor am I criticising the Israeli people, nor their army forces. I do not support what Hamas did and do, it was despicable and evil, they are terrorists.

I do, however, blame Netanyahu, for his actions and I genuinely believe he’s acting in his own interests, not that of his people nor the hostages. Surely there are now no longer any hostages still alive? Those no murdered by Hamas have possibly been killed by the relentless fire from Israel.

What is currently occurring in Gaza is a humanitarian crisis.

Didn’t they blow up a medical supply centre the other day?

All reports come from Hamas

All reports come from Hamas

Not from the aid agencies themselves?

According to BBC news reports the other days, a minimal amount of food aid will be let in which is a very small proportion of what is needed.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 20-May-25 15:45:48

500 trucks a day are needed. Israel is talking about 5. What on earth is that going to achieve?

Anniebach Tue 20-May-25 15:47:25

And Israel has said ‘return the hostages and lay down your arms’ , silence

Smileless2012 Tue 20-May-25 15:54:12

So is starving the Palestinians justified then Annie?

I bet Hamas aren't starving, though.

Smileless2012 Tue 20-May-25 16:01:13

I don't suppose they are Allira but if it weren't for the total lack of basic provisions no one would be starving would they.

Whose defending terrorists Annie?

None of us are defending Hamas, not one person here has justified anything Hamas has done.

I saw the interview from Aid Agencies, are you saying this is Hamas masquerading as other people? They showed people cursing Hamas?

All reports come from Hamas

Annie I’m sure there’s plenty of propaganda from the terrorists, but I’m afraid that whilst you may not believe it, some of the reports directly from Israel, with photos of Aid Trucks etc, do seem to be genuine, however much you don’t wish to believe it.

I’d never, ever condone what Hamas did and does, it was horrendous to both kidnap and murder innocent Israelis

AGAA4 Tue 20-May-25 16:35:39

Starving people is one of the cruellest ways of killing. The UK France and Canada are turning away from Israel now as their action are intolerable.

It seems that aid trucks are being held back by Israel and there aren't many of those to begin with.
Anybody who allows babies to die of starvation is a monster.

Riots and in-infighting, I would guess.

Do you mean all reports come from Palestinian reporters? Isn’t this because Israel has banned all foreign journalists and reporters ?

valdavi Tue 20-May-25 16:50:21

It's so frustrating. The starving children are there a couple of miles from the aid trucks. The food that can keep them alive is already near at hand. There's no logistical holdup, just Netanyahu insisting on having his own way or else.

I am very glad UK, France & Canada have had enough, I think it is an important day.

Anniebach Tue 20-May-25 17:41:54

No problem here with criticism of Hamas for not agreeing
with the offer of peace from Israel, but much for Israel

Smileless2012 Tue 20-May-25 17:47:11

This thread is about the aid or rather the lack of it to Gaza Annie.

There's plenty of criticism of Hamas on all of the threads on this subject but it's Israel whose deliberately withholding aid, and that is what's being discussed here.

keepingquiet Tue 20-May-25 17:48:48

Why should children be suffering at all? We have lost our basic humanity when those with no power are at the whim of those who wish to keep it- and I'm talking both sides.

It is horrific and intolerable and it is about time things started to change.

The children have suffered enough but no one cares about them...

Smileless2012 Tue 20-May-25 17:51:11

Plenty care keepingquiet but sadly aren't in a position to do anything about it, and those who are in a position to do so either aren't doing enough, or aren't doing anything at all.

Yes, if Hamas agreed to return the hostages and gave up arms
there be aid, the criticism of Hamas by many is followed by
‘But’ ,

Smileless2012 Tue 20-May-25 18:26:40

So it's OK to starve what's left of the population of Gaza?

valdavi Tue 20-May-25 18:29:44

The criticism of Hamas is followed by "buts" because there are huge buts....
