Gaza and Aid

Whilst I accept that we, in the UK, are not getting the full news stories from Gaza, I don’t believe the aid agencies are “lying” or “misrepresenting” the current dire situation of the Palestinian people.

According to various news reports, from several sources, including aid agencies, 40,000 children and babies will die in the near future if they don’t receive the food they need.

This is not an anti-Semitic post, nor am I criticising the Israeli people, nor their army forces. I do not support what Hamas did and do, it was despicable and evil, they are terrorists.

I do, however, blame Netanyahu, for his actions and I genuinely believe he’s acting in his own interests, not that of his people nor the hostages. Surely there are now no longer any hostages still alive? Those no murdered by Hamas have possibly been killed by the relentless fire from Israel.

What is currently occurring in Gaza is a humanitarian crisis.

Both are very very wrong and evil.

The atrocities of 7 October were horrendous and willfully starving people is too.

Different but both wicked.

Most definitely.

No it is not understandable Annie, whatever made you think I would think that? The atrocities of 7 October were horrendous as is willfully starving babies.

Because you didn’t speak of those atrocities yet speak of the same war
Yes, because the discussion is regarding aid in Gaza - and my post related to that alone. The 7th October atrocities have been discussed in many other threads, but this thread relates to aid and the withholding of it.

You can separate the two, I cannot, one led to the other

What reads as an attempt to absolve Hamas. Absolutely not. Neither do I seek to absolve the Israeli government

Of course it isn’t understandable Anniebach. Neither is the deliberate starvation of babies. Radio 4 news at 5-6pm played a recording of an 8 month old baby crying in pain from starvation, the child’s weight was that of a new born.

It has to stop. I’m relieved Starmer and Lammy are now criticising Israel for starving people and repeating the call for ceasefire. This in no way absolves Hamas

It reads as an attempt to absolve Hamas, shhhhh if we don’t speak they will be forgotten

The international condemnation of the humanitarian crisis has been late coming but the unfolding horror has at last prompted some action. Let's hope that some relief for the children of Gaza is on the way.

Anniebach Tue 20-May-25 20:23:25

Sexually abusing babies and smashing their bodies against a wall, taking two babies as hostages then returning their strangled bodies is understandable?

Curlywhirly Tue 20-May-25 20:18:59

There is absolutely no excuse, not even in war, for killing babies by deliberately starving them. It's vile.

Smileless2012 Tue 20-May-25 20:18:47

This is about the lack of food because of Israel Annie and that is why Israel is being strongly criticised.

I agree AGAA far too upsetting for frivolity and like you I think Netanyahu, Ben Gvir et al are as bad as Hamas.

Cossy Tue 20-May-25 20:14:32

No problem here with criticism of Hamas for not agreeing
with the offer of peace from Israel, but much for Israel

Nobody here defends Hamas, they should agree a peace deal, but as we know they are terrorists and not to be trusted.

No one wants to any more dead babies and children, which ever side of the divide they live!

AGAA4 Tue 20-May-25 20:07:08

I abhor Hamas and the attack on Israel. Netanyahu, Ben Gvir and others I now think are as bad as Hamas.

Do tell, who knows how many babies ? what of 3.5.7 years of age ?
Those children are starving too but this is about milk not getting through to mothers so babies will quickly die without milk.

This is about lack of food reaching people because of terrorists
declaring they will kill all of the Jewish faith, i assume they
mean children too, we must remember when they invaded a country which is strongly criticised here they took babies from
cribs sexually abused them then smashed the little bodies against walls.
You think nothing to do with this !

AGAA4 Tue 20-May-25 19:56:48

If Annie wants to play games there are plenty of games threads. This subject is too upsetting for frivolity.

Smileless2012 Tue 20-May-25 19:53:43

Good grief Annie shock is that all you have to say?

As the daughter of a Holocaust survivor I abhor all that Israel are doing to the Palestinians and I always have. It's not antisemitic to say so. I'm not a Zionist.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 20-May-25 19:33:45

14000 babies will starve to death within the next 48 hours unless baby food is shipped in. Their mothers can no longer feed them because the mothers are starving.

That for me is the bottom line.

valdavi Tue 20-May-25 18:46:12

That's because we usually start by saying how horrific the 7/10 terrorism was, which it absolutely was, before moving on via a "but".
Whereas some supporters of Israel don't seem to see anything wrong with Israel's actions.

Why need them, can’t see one following criticism of Israel,
