The O/P read (in part)

"Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the population of Gaza will be displaced to the south after his security cabinet approved an expanded military operation in the enclave that a minister described as a plan to “conquer” the territory.

The vote on Sunday came hours after the military said it would mobilize tens of thousands of reservists, strengthening its capacity to operate in the besieged Palestinian territory.

“One thing will be clear: there will be no in-and-out,” Netanyahu said in a Monday video message posted on X. “We’ll call up reserves to come, hold territory — we’re not going to enter and then exit the area, only to carry out raids afterward. That’s not the plan. The intention is the opposite.”

We now have the aid crisis at the focus of world wide attention.

Nothing's working so far.

They have been sanctioned for inciting extreme violence and
abuse of Palestinian human rights.
Their assets have been frozen too.

Snap!

Whitewavemark2 Tue 10-Jun-25 14:03:32

The U.K. government has sanctioned two Israeli government ministers for their appalling rhetoric.

This signals a break from the USA

About time!

AGAA4 Tue 10-Jun-25 13:58:48

The UK has put sanctions on far right Israelis Ben Gvir and Smotrich. I wish more could be done. Two evil men.

Anniebach Tue 10-Jun-25 13:49:29

Can than be more fear than the fear Hamas instills , no

Wyllow3 Tue 10-Jun-25 13:41:15

Any group of people deviating from a certain route will expect warning shots.

It needn't be that way, it's manufacturing more fear and control amongst the population. Poor souls driven from pillar to post to even get food then risk being shot at. If tis isnt genocide I dont know what it.

Oreo Tue 10-Jun-25 13:25:44

How do you know the soldiers knew who this group was? The situation in the West Bank is volatile and the IDF work with the PA against several extremist groups there.Any group of people deviating from a certain route will expect warning shots.

The international delegation were shot over, not at? Oh, is that ok then? Most people would strongly disagree. Israel would have known perfectly well this was a group who were unarmed and no threat. However it has always done what it wants with or without agreement of their USA backers, not forgetting us too - hanging on the USA coat tails.
Israel has always acted with impunity because until now they have had historical immunity from criticism. That will certainly change.

Anniebach Tue 10-Jun-25 11:45:47

Not all international acclaimed legal bodies ,

Maremia Tue 10-Jun-25 11:32:06

A 'problem' that is taking oh so long to resolve. A 'problem' that is causing previous allies to re-think their allegiance to Israel.
A 'problem' which actually has been officially named as a genocide by internationally acclaimed legal bodies.

Anniebach Tue 10-Jun-25 09:00:12

They were not shot at, there was shots overhead, I like facts

Oreo Tue 10-Jun-25 08:49:50

Exactly Anniebach the whole boatload of them were anti Israel and likely antisemitic into the bargain.Though little point saying this to anyone who thinks they were ‘brave’ or that they were highlighting a little known problem!

The inconvenience of starving children and other innocents!

Starving in the West Bank? Which is what Anniebach was writing about, an incident in the West Bank where visitors were heading off piste.

Anniebach Mon 09-Jun-25 23:28:21

They are having much publicity on social media, much mocking . No word of protest from the countries where they live. Much mocking is of Greta Thunberg and much about a
Zaher Birawi

man accused of being “a Hamas operative” based in London is a key figure behind Greta Thunberg’s Gaza-bound aid boat, it emerged on Monday.

Zaher Birawi, who was described in Parliament as a person with links to Hamas, called himself a “founding member” of the Freedom Flotilla International Coalition, which arranged the voyage by the aid boat Madleen.

I don't think on the big picture their intervention was significant as such, but of course the irony is, the more we discuss if from any POV - the more publicity they get in highlighting starving people without aid - its always like this.

Allira Mon 09-Jun-25 22:41:15

Maremia

Glad that the protestors on the ship were not shot at. A group of International observers came under fire from the IDF, possibly last week, on the West Bank.
Meanwhile how much food got into Gaza today?

Meanwhile how much food got into Gaza today?

Well, there we have it! I doubt that any got through so all their efforts were in vain and just a distraction, as I said earlier.
It may well have had a negative effect too, which would be dreadful.

Well-meaning or egotistical, thinking they were important enough to make a difference?

" It said it "regrets the inconvenience caused".
That has to be the understatement of a number if years.

Anniebach Mon 09-Jun-25 19:38:15

A number of countries have condemned the Israeli military's actions after troops fired warning shots in the vicinity of a diplomatic delegation visiting the occupied West Bank.
The Israeli military accused them of leaving an approved route and said shots were fired into the air "to distance them". It said it "regrets the inconvenience caused".
No injuries were reported in the incident, which happened in the northern city of Jenin, where Israeli security forces have been conducting a major operation against Palestinian armed groups since January.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 09-Jun-25 19:38:09

Got you talking excitedly though.

Oreo Mon 09-Jun-25 19:36:47

Nobody would dare shoot Greta😲 or well known anybodies.
They were never in any danger, it was too well documented as the whole world knew it was happening with regular reports on where the boat was now.
It was a stunt, a celebrity stunt.
