this continues an ongoing thread on Gaza

www.gransnet.com/forums/news_and_politics/a1347791-Israel-to-conquer-Gaza?msgid=31157292#31157292

The O/P read (in part)

"Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the population of Gaza will be displaced to the south after his security cabinet approved an expanded military operation in the enclave that a minister described as a plan to “conquer” the territory.

The vote on Sunday came hours after the military said it would mobilize tens of thousands of reservists, strengthening its capacity to operate in the besieged Palestinian territory.

“One thing will be clear: there will be no in-and-out,” Netanyahu said in a Monday video message posted on X. “We’ll call up reserves to come, hold territory — we’re not going to enter and then exit the area, only to carry out raids afterward. That’s not the plan. The intention is the opposite.”

We now have the aid crisis at the focus of world wide attention.

She has no worries about Ukraine , more cameras for this war

I’ll never forget the look on Greta’s face when she spotted Donald Trump at some function or other!
Absolutely priceless!

I always thought of her as the most annoying teenager on the planet and I’m sure I’m not alone in that!

Anniebach Mon 02-Jun-25 12:02:43

The Red Cross has forgotten Hamas ‘has guns will kill’ ,

Greta has saved the world from global warming !

Oreo Mon 02-Jun-25 12:00:37

Hamas and armed individuals will be at the heart of the shootings of people at food aid centres.

A very controversial situation - respected agencies like the Red Cross reporting patients with gunshot wounds arriving dead or injured, after an aid delivery, the IDF claims it didn't shoot.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c991j01lym3o

"A "mass casualty influx" of people, many with gunshot or shrapnel wounds, was received at a Red Cross field hospital in southern Gaza, the organisation said, following disputed reports about an incident near an aid distribution centre in Rafah.
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said 21 people were "declared dead upon arrival" while women and children were among 179 cases"

"But the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said findings from an initial inquiry showed its forces had not fired at people while they were near or within the aid centre"

Oreo Mon 02-Jun-25 11:50:12

Ah, Greta Thunberg and actors, they do need to keep their names in the limelight don’t they?!
As if anyone is unaware of Gaza.
I haven’t missed her permanently cross little face at all JenniferEccles it’s been a merciful release🤭

Wyllow3 Mon 02-Jun-25 11:08:43

It's in a huge number of newspapers today right left and centre

"Greta Thunberg and 11 other activists, including actor Liam Cunningham, set sail for Gaza on Sunday to break “Israel’s siege” and deliver aid.

The activists are travelling on the boat Madleen, operated by the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, and expect the journey to take seven days if they are not stopped.

Before departing, Thunberg stated the group aims to raise international awareness of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, emphasising the importance of continuing to try despite the odds.

This attempt follows a previous failed effort in early May, when another Freedom Flotilla ship was allegedly attacked by drones, which the group blamed on Israel.

Israel defends its blockade as a means to pressure Hamas to release hostages taken during the October 7, 2023, attack, while critics accuse Israel of genocidal acts in its war in Gaza, a charge Israel vehemently denies".

She's grown up quite a bit, no cross little face in the Telegraph

www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2025/06/01/greta-thunberg-sail-gaza-break-israeli-blockade-activists/

The value of these endeavours is to keep world focus on effective aid delivery. I've looked carefully at news outlets and comments by Thunberg and others are only focussing on this.

JenniferEccles Mon 02-Jun-25 10:53:46

Oh Greta Thunberg.
We haven’t heard from her for ages, have we?
I’ve quite missed her permanently cross little face!

I’d assumed she had taken herself off to China or India to point out the error of their ways.

You no doubt know already, but you will be rubbing shoulders with a lot of Jewish people on the march.

And what is that supposed to imply?

Ferry, it simply implied to me that there are increasing numbers of UK Jewish people who have concerns about whats happening in Gaza to speak up and so may join in demonstrations and are pleased about it.

This was obvious in the article I referenced upthread by the Jewish voice for Labour.

www.jewishvoiceforlabour.org.uk/article/dehumanisation-and-the-morality-of-starving-children-to-death/

There is nothing "unpleasant" in say Jewish Voice for labour or any other group voicing concerns about Gaza.

So why would you single out Jews as people you may be rubbing shoulders with? Why not any other grouping - like women; white people; gay people;....I could go on.

What makes it so worrying about Jewish people that you have to warn people they may be "rubbing shoulders" with them?

No wonder Jewish people feel victimised.

Ferry, I did not post that I was quoting commenting on another post trying to explain what she meant

I don’t have a problem marching with Jewish people a nd have nothing against jews so will assume if they are marching we will have similar views. (If not then I am much too old to be a threat.). smile

silverlining48 Mon 02-Jun-25 09:25:44

I don’t think it was Wyllow who made the ‘rubbing shoulders’ comment but I agree with her that it shows how many Jews do not agree with what Netanyahu and his nasty cronies plan to do in Palistine and if I am courageous enough to walk I woukd be proud to walk with anyone who has the human decency to see that what Israel and friends are doing is a crime.

silverlining48 Mon 02-Jun-25 09:19:53

Yes it set out yesterday to bring aid to Gaza, I hope they are not attacked as I believe a previous boat was.
We live in dangerous times, and I fear for us all.

Maremia Mon 02-Jun-25 08:28:31

CNN world online just now, Greta Thunberg is aboard an aid ship, Madleen, sailing to Gaza aimed at 'breaking Israel's siege.

Thank you for posting the link above Wyllow . I found the lack of humanity absolutely chilling.

TheatreLover has also previously made it clear she is glad to see joint action for peace.

Wyllow3 Sun 01-Jun-25 18:31:41

There is a paucity of reporting recent marches - it does mean there haven't been arrests - I hope the balance of marchers and banners show the rising humanitarian concerns and calls for action for our government and do get reported.

I always got fed up on the many marches I've been on for the usually small element just there for trouble.

silverlining48 Sun 01-Jun-25 18:07:28

I have been mistaken as Jewish in the past, so if necessary that might help. Joking apart I really don’t expect any trouble as most of the marches seem to have been peaceful. Let’s hope so.

TheatreLover Sun 01-Jun-25 17:24:02

I wish I could join you on the march silverlining but unfortunately I am out of town that weekend. You no doubt know already, but you will be rubbing shoulders with a lot of Jewish people on the march.

Anniebach Sun 01-Jun-25 17:06:27

I doubt there is one MP who doesn’t know how voters feel about the war,

Maremia Sun 01-Jun-25 16:58:53

MP s can do more than acknowledge how you feel. They vote issues into law.

Maremia Sun 01-Jun-25 16:57:03

In your opinion
