this continues an ongoing thread on Gaza

The O/P read (in part)

"Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the population of Gaza will be displaced to the south after his security cabinet approved an expanded military operation in the enclave that a minister described as a plan to “conquer” the territory.

The vote on Sunday came hours after the military said it would mobilize tens of thousands of reservists, strengthening its capacity to operate in the besieged Palestinian territory.

“One thing will be clear: there will be no in-and-out,” Netanyahu said in a Monday video message posted on X. “We’ll call up reserves to come, hold territory — we’re not going to enter and then exit the area, only to carry out raids afterward. That’s not the plan. The intention is the opposite.”

We now have the aid crisis at the focus of world wide attention.

As for the little girl who ‘allegedly’ had half her face blown away and legs amputated without anaesthesia who the doctor talked about, you show not the slightest compassion. Words fail.

No one denies the holocaust 80 years ago, it was a terrible crime but why can’t you accept the violence and which is being done by Israel so cruelly to innocent children in gaza. Every day.

I didn’t believe the post about the little girl, I still don’t,
I don’t accept the ‘ x number of children been killed’ , I have said often it’s playing the children card, people of all ages are killed in wars, I will not reply every day to the numbers from Hamas.

I should add, I’m aware of October and the constant attackd on Israel

Iam64 Fri 20-Jun-25 21:15:04

It’s heart breaking, devastating and feels increasingly impossible to hope for a two state solution
The actions of this Israeli govt and its IDF troops are inexcusable.
I readily acknowledge the lasting trauma from the holocaust, as do all thinking people. Sadly, the empathy felt towards Jewish people is being very badly affected by the bombing and starvation

Annie I don’t know if you are aware that Hamas has two separate wings, like the IRA and SinnFein. There is a military Hamas and a political Hamas which governs Gaza. Their figures of deaths and injuries have not been questioned and are acknowledged as accurate by most of the outside world.
We would all like independent international journalists and observers to access Gaza, but Israel wont allow them in. why do you think that is? It’s rather unusual. Israel is supposed to be a democracy after all.
My theory is that they don’t want the world to see what they are doing.
What is your theory?
Please answer the question rather than making another statement .

Anniebach Fri 20-Jun-25 20:05:34

Reported by the Health Authority which is Hamas , so much info when no journalists allowed there, so many photographs
coming since 7th October 2023, I recall January 2024, a post
playing down the Holocaust victims and quoting a doctor who gave much detail of a small girl who allegedly had half her face
blown off and needed both her legs amputated without even pain killers 3 months after the invasion of Israel!

400 Gazans are reported to have died in the last few weeks. Many more injured.
I don’t understand why Israel is being allowed to decide how and when aid is delivered. They are the occupying forces and Gazans should not be at their mercy, if there is any mercy.
Aid should be provided by the UN as it always has for 70 odd years. They never shot at starving desperate people.
Can only assume Israel wants to exclude the UN from seeing what is going on in Gaza. As they exclude journalists.

I think it is because they DO share belief in the honesty of journalists.

And that statement about dishonest journalists seems to assume that every journalist lies and would be against Israel.

Which is the silliest argument.

If Israel has nothing to hide, allow independent observers into Gaza to record the actual events.

Heartbreaking report from Oxfam:

Of course, Oxfam could be lying🤔

Parsley3 Wed 18-Jun-25 17:35:21

Even Israeli journalists?

Of course, if Israel would allow independent journalists / observers into Gaza, the facts might be much clearer.

Makes you wonder why Israel is so opposed to this 🤔

All reporting that 51 more people killed whilst queueing for aid.

The queues are being used as target practice.

And your proof of that outrageous assertion? Since you constantly say that to other posters hmm
Palestinians in a group keep on heading towards IDF, now they may or may not be surging forwards just for the flour and other goods on the aid lorries but if they ignore warning fire, which they often do then they will be treated as hostile by soldiers, who are massively outnumbered by the crowds.

Which is why UNWRA was so good at dealing with the issue of aid, and the new set up is so dreadful.

Indeed, and the IDF should never ever be in charge of aid.
This is NT an outrageous assertion.

What is outrageous in the extreme, and beyond, is denying the deaths of over 50.000 people, mostly civilians, babies, children, families, the elderly. And now that food aid posts are now controlled by the IDF, and where starving people needing to feed their families are shot at point blank range. THAT is beyond outrageous.

Among the crowd are Hamas , when hostages were released earlier this year we saw large crowds of men jeering and mocking the hostages ,

Do you mean that armed Hamas members are in the crowd?

Whitewavemark2 Wed 18-Jun-25 16:54:31

LizzieDrip

Parsley3

Are the crowds armed ?

Good question!

We do know that the injured received wounds from tanks and machine guns. I don’t see many of the starving running around in tanks with machine guns.

We also know that Netanyahu is arming terrorist groups, to cause May-hem.

The IDF have accepted the evidence and are “looking at it”

Maremia Wed 18-Jun-25 16:50:48

Proof all depends on who you believe. Do you believe the IDF? Or do you accept the eyewitness testimony from Aid Workers and receiving Medics who are on the scene?

Kudos to my Library, and thanks to all the GNs who suggested reading material on the topic. They have retained 'The hundred year's war in Palestine ' by Rashid Khalidi. I can pick it up anytime. Again thanks.
