Well, at least it's a baby with a face!
Congratulations.

So now we’re questioning Carrie’s religion as well as her right to have a fourth baby?😲
Hope all you ‘the world doesn’t need another baby’ claimers apply that to the many even larger families presently in the UK? Or is it just applied to well off toffs?

I wonder if the 'small island' claimers apply the same principle to toffs?

escaped I think you are missing the point. All that was being suggested was that somehow being a male ex-Etonian with an Oxford degree seems to confer some sort of immunity from criticism for Boris Johnson. I don't think anybody said or even implied that all male ex-Eton/Oxford alumni behaved the same way.

Well in that case, the male ex Etonian, Oxford degree immunity clause didn’t work in Boris Johnson’s case!😂I can’t recall a more criticised person.

When it came to being punished for Partygate he and Carrie both had to pay a fixed penalty fine and not further action was taken. Lesser mortals had faced far heavier penalties by then for far smaller lockdown infringements.

The relentless criticism levelled at Boris Johnson in the press and elsewhere was about as effective as firing a peashooter at tank.

Millie22 Mon 26-May-25 10:34:09

I'm just amazed that she's had four babies in five years.

Galaxy Mon 26-May-25 10:36:23

Is that what it is? Crikey, that is certainly an undertaking.

I have no idea.

All I see is resentment about a new baby as Boris Johnson happens to be the Father.

Unfortunately I think you are right.

He lost his job as PM remember? He never got away with anything at all.

I don’t think you’ve read the thread properly if that’s all you see Oreo, because there is a wide range of views here - from the I think it’s wonderful, to I love whatever Boris Johnson does, through I’m not interested, to worry about the world population, to I don’t like Boris Johnson whatever he does. I’ve probably missed a few reactions too.

Oh yeah! I have read the whole thread and the views are simply resentment about Johnson wrapped up in either a ‘save the planet’ message ( silly enough in this country) or a bit of outrage at his morals.Other feelings popping through are envy of wealth, dislike of Tories and privileged lives and whether Carrie is a good enough Catholic.

Oreo Mon 26-May-25 10:50:54

All boil down to the same thing tho.

I just hope Poppy doesn't read it all one day.

I don’t know how or why you feel that you are able to assign motive to others, but I haven’t seen anybody who has said anything nasty about the baby at all. Boris Johnson is a polarising figure, but the range of views about him are shades of grey, not black and white. Resentment is a strong word, and in this case I think you’ve used it quite inappropriately.

vegansrock Mon 26-May-25 10:56:48

Lots of people gushing over a new baby just because BJ is the father.

Oreo Mon 26-May-25 10:57:06

😂

vegansrock Mon 26-May-25 10:58:11

No one is criticising the cuteness of the baby btw.

Oreo Mon 26-May-25 10:59:05

Who would say anything nasty about the baby? Resentment about Johnson is the absolute right word to use ( and hardly a strong word.)

Casdon Mon 26-May-25 11:04:40

You are entitled to your opinion about what others say Oreo, but it does you no favours to assign a malign motive to others just because you don’t agree with them.

In the same way we are ALL entitled to air our own opinions.

I don’t like Johnson, I didn’t like him as a journalist, he lied, I didn’t like him a Mayor of London, he wasted shedloads of public money, I didn’t like him as PM, he lied and wasted more public money.

I don’t resent him, simply dislike him!

eazybee Mon 26-May-25 11:53:41

The motives may not be malign, but several of the comments about Boris and Carrie, together or separately, are unpleasant, and come over as resentment.
And for what?

Having a ninth/ fourth child.

AGAA4 Mon 26-May-25 11:58:44

People will criticise Johnson's way of life. He is a libertine and as he has been PM it will cause judgemental views but I haven't seen anyone say anything nasty about the baby.
Many have wished her well.

M0nica Mon 26-May-25 12:08:41

Give Boris another 10 years, if he is still married and faithful to his current wife, then I will sing his virtues as a committed father and husband.

We can only judge people on their track record and his is not good.

eazybee Mon 26-May-25 12:13:20

So you feel it is your right to judge him, do you, MOnica?
No longer a public figure. Not your business.

Of course nobody has said anything nasty about the baby as who on earth would?
It’s the parents being castigated and sadly for Carrie, whatever is thought about Boris.

It’s an opinions forum and thems me opinions.I don’t give a hoot about favours. The resentment on the thread shines out loud and clear.Btw I don’t like anything about Boris Johnson but don’t condemn him for fathering a child with his wife.
