Wonderful CanadianGran!

"The True North is indeed strong and free" does indeed fit the current political bill .....

Yes it was a pleasure to see King Charles offering his support and obvious understanding of what Canada has had to endure since Trump started his incredible demands and ridiculous statements. Canada is a wonderful, dignified and resourceful country the complete opposite of that mad man living next door. I do hope the state visit never takes place and the King’s speech has sent the message loud and clear to the White House.

Glad that the King's speech was well-received in Canada; it was well-received here and hope it shows our support for Canada as a sovereign state.

Watched it too Candian Gran and felt so pleased at the sense of Canada and the UK pulling even closer. I particularly liked the number of times thd commentator referred to Charles as Canada's King. It really does show Trump's lack of general knowledge outside his own small bubble.

Oh, and the Queen did wear the diamond maple leaf brooch that was originally a gift from King George VI to Queen Elizabeth to commemorate their first visit to Canada in 1939. Lovely to see it.

I watched the Throne speech this morning; the King's message was a mixture of our Liberal party's recent election promises, but some personal touches highlighting his and the late Queen's history and love of Canada. He also highlighted our sovereignty and the challenges facing our country in the near future.

I thought he did a good job, and hope it sends a message internationally as well as kindling a sense of pride for our citizens.

"It is a source of great pride that, in the following decades, Canada has continued to set an example to the world in her conduct and values, as a force for good," he said. "As the anthem reminds us: The True North is indeed strong and free!"
