TW acknowledges why women don’t feel safe

In the midst of a flow of reports about failed males taking awards in female sports,
A 28 year old man who “came out as transgender” four years ago gives the perfect explanation for why males shouldn’t play in female sports.
He said
What am I supposed to do? Go and play with the men? Because I don’t feel safe playing there.

I think that any "mixed" team would not be in a competitive league situation anyway, rather informal "friendlies".

Also a lot of sport are not team sports. I recall from school that things like javelin throwing or high jump boys and girls participated and it was all about "personal bests" and enjoyment.

But it was a school that deliberately tried to make sports inclusive for those that weren't too good at it so they didn't feel 'failures'.

It's interesting in gyms that most people are interested in personal bests tho always some who wanted competitive performance elements.

I think that if they have what is essentially 'gender dysphoria' they can still believe in biological sex. It's just awkward and isolating when they feel one way and look another

Well, I’m going to keep pushing my solution.

The team is a trans team. If there are insufficient numbers of trans, the team is an inclusive one that will also accept those who are not trans.

They can be male or female since trans believe that there is no biological sex.

If it works it would be a good idea.

Usually teams choose the players who will bring the best results for their team.

I’m picturing the composition of a rugby team of TW choosing the non-trans players they think will bring the best results.

Then I’m picturing the composition of a team who would be willing to play against them.
How would you picture the composition of either of those teams?

A trans friend of ours won’t go on public transport because she doesn’t feel safe. I don’t know what the answer is unless you have special teams for trans athletes but it might be difficult finding enough team members.

So is that a transman (she) or a transwoman (he) who doesn’t feel safe on public transport nanna8?
Why does your friend not feel safe on public transport?
The problem with finding enough team members should not be solved by putting males in female teams.
Even if all the other members of the team were happy with it, they would need to find teams who were willing to play against them.

Yes Mollygo of course I don't believe all men or all TWs are bullies but there are some men and some TRAs who do want women to move over to get their own way.
TRAs expect women to accept them in their sports, changing rooms and other female only spaces and become aggressive if women say no.

TW are men and of course their needs have to come first. Women should know their place and not complain.
Hasn't this always been the way.

AGAA4
Was that sarcasm?

Funnily enough, these men who claim they are women, don’t know their place and complain bitterly.

Wyllow3 Mon 02-Jun-25 19:40:50

I do have difficulties "tarring all with same brush". After all, the men we know and meet are all not all bullies or putting us in our place. DS isn't at all like that, we must all know men across the spectrum, sure this applies to TW?

So what if they don’t feel ‘safe’ ? It’s no reason to ruin sport for women.

Quite!

To add:

Knowing what it is like to feel unsafe, why would you want others to experience the same by your own actions?

We wouldn't collude with a daft woman wanting to enter Crufts so why collude with daft men wanting to enter women's facilities and sport? Full stop.

Oreo Mon 02-Jun-25 16:03:22

Of course Aveline wink I often feel like a super model so I get where you’re coming from😁 here, have a Bonio for good behaviour.🐶

Aveline Mon 02-Jun-25 15:58:45

Oreo I feel tiny and hairy and that's all that matters.

That isn't the same thing at all.
If someone doesn't feel safe that is still valid, whoever they are.

I fancy entering Crufts next year. I identify as a Yorkshire terrier. That should be fine I suppose? Obviously I'd enter as a bitch. I know my rights.

😂
Are you tiny and hairy?

The trans woman in the OP probably would be scared of competing against men as it would mean not winning.

That doesn't sound right Oreo
If they don't feel safe that isn't about winning.

It was my tongue in cheek comment on transwomen saying they wouldn’t feel safe playing in a mens team.
They fear comments no doubt but also they would be mediocre I expect so no trophy for them.
It’s a no brainer that they shouldn’t be competing against women so they need to either play in a mens team or compete against other men.Because they are biological men.

Mollygo Mon 02-Jun-25 14:22:01

Trans teams give preference to those who have transitioned but are inclusive of anyone who wishes to join, These would be included regardless of their birth sex, in line with the expressed belief that there is no such thing as biological sex.

This is an excellent idea.
It has the added bonus of offering a chance of winning, to men other than TW who don’t achieve the top 3 places in men’s competitions.

Mollygo Mon 02-Jun-25 14:15:38

Cossy
failed males
Men who fail to win competing against male (biological sex) competitors.
They see the way forward to be to enter female competitions in order to win, instead of training harder or accepting that others are going to win.

Lathyrus3 Mon 02-Jun-25 13:42:44

This is how I think it should work.

Womens teams are for those born female who identify as women.

Mens teams are for those born male who identify as male.

Trans teams give preference to those who have transitioned but are inclusive of anyone who wishes to join, These would be ncluded regardless of their birth sex, in line with the expressed belief that there is no such thing as biological sex.

I don't see a solution unless there are enough numbers, I think finding alternative ways of doing whats meaningful for you in your sport - and that will differ for everyone just as we have to work round limitations in other ways in life.

Exactly.

Not good enough? Too bad.
Treatment affected your performance? Too bad.
You're a man/boy who'd like everyone to pretend you're a woman/girl? Too bad.
