Israel attack on Iran

This is a serious situation. Netanyahu has gone against advice from the US and has attacked Iran.
Iran will retaliate and Israel has closed down today waiting for the attack.
Although the US has distanced itself from this only warning Iran not to target US bases it's inevitable that they may get pulled into this war.

Well this was a real eye opener for me. Netanyahu supported Hamas for years! I needed to look at the truth of this but there are so many links to prove the facts that I have chosen one at random to post. It is the people of Israel who have paid the price for this self serving policy as WWM2 shows in her Wikipedia extract.

“Netanyahu has no interest in bringing regime change, he has no plan apart from eliminating any potential nuclear threat, which we know is not there.”

Would you like to explain why Iran has built a massive underground plant for enriching uranium has consistently refused inspections and has prepared a weapons facility inside a mountain.

Netanyahu has supported and funded Hamas in order to keep Fatah out of Gaza.

He is and always has been intent on keeping the two areas apart.

And has been successful hasn’t he?

I’ve just cut and pasted some info. But bear in mind that support for Hamas by Israel goes much further back.

Quick explanation from Wikipedia

In the late 2010s and early 2020s, Israeli officials encouraged Qatar to give aid to Hamas,[9] and approved the transfer of money from Qatar to the organization.[10] Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that the aid transfers were allowed for humanitarian reasons;[11] Israeli intelligence officials believe that the Qatari money contributed to the success of the October 7 attacks.[

And yet you are such a strong supporter.

Based on what?

So confusing, Israel has supported Hamas , Whitewave post today 12.15.24 ?
I thought you knew everything there is to know about Netanyahu.

No, if I did I would be constantly posting not asking questions which seem to cause upset and even anger

Netanyahu had been secretly supporting Hamas. It's quite a while ago till it went wrong for him.

Maremia Wed 18-Jun-25 13:58:45

But can we believe Netanyahu could be so duplicitous? Of course we can!

I thought you knew everything there is to know about Netanyahu.

You are an ardent supporter, so it is reasonable that you know his politics.

Of course Netanyahu supported Hamas for a good number of years for the same reason he is giving tacit support to outlier terrorist groups in Gaza now.

Intyeresting article now in the Guardian about how Iran has managed to penetrate the Iron Dome.

Distract and divert attention away. And it's working.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 18-Jun-25 12:15:24

Frankly I support neither side in this totally unnecessary war.

Iran - I would very much like to see a regime change, but certainly not like this. Bombing and killing innocent people is never a recipe for good. Iran certainly provides support for various groups - some classed as terrorists.

Both Iran and Israel (particularly Netanyahu) have supported Hamas.

Israel - is just plain wrong. There is no evidence that suggest a preemptive strike was necessary. Even Trump understood that for while.

Netanyahu has no interest in bringing regime change, he has no plan apart from eliminating any potential nuclear threat, which we know is not there.
He had no plans to re-build etc, just as he has no plans to re-build Gaza - just devastation and horror.

Maremia Wed 18-Jun-25 11:52:30

Tulsi Gabbard, who is the USA National Director of Intelligence recently carried out a check on the nuclear facilities in Iran and reported back that there was no evidence of 'development'.
She has since been excluded from White House meetings on the topic.
Trump prefers to listen to whatever Netanyahu is telling him.

Haven’t the west learned any lessons from the invasion of Iraq?

petra Wed 18-Jun-25 11:28:27

Iran might not have started any wars but it has supplied enough ammunition to start, and prolong plenty of others.

I’m behind Israel all the way on this conflict.

Trump is saying he is considering getting involved and helping Israel in the attack.
This would go against the promise he made to the American people that he would not get involved in any more wars. It's said this could be a defining moment for his presidency.

I’m beginning to see push back from Trump supporters on SM.

This is not what they voted for.

It not what they voted for and it if was going to mean boots on the ground there would serious opposition. I don’t think “bombing the hell” of Iran is going to cause more problems than he already has, serious casualties may change that.

LaCrepescule Wed 18-Jun-25 11:16:27

Israel acting as the aggressor yet again and playing the victim card. Sickening.

Interesting tweet.

I haven’t checked it out, but it is food for thought if correct.

“Iran hasn’t started a war in over 200 years.

Israel has invaded or attacked every one of its neighbors — Egypt (1956, 1967), Lebanon (1978, 1982, 2006), Syria (Golan Heights, near-daily airstrikes), Jordan (1967).

It still occupies Palestine & is engaged in a bloody genocide.

But sure — tell me Iran is the real threat to peace in the Middle East.”

I don’t think he would have got much joy from Trump anyway.

Trump is too busy with his next piece of theatre. This time a real war.

Maremia Wed 18-Jun-25 09:27:41

Off topic, but connected, does anyone know how Zelenski fared at the G7? I know he didn't meet up with Trump.

Iran has threatened to attack American bases if the US aid Israel.

Meanwhile Putin watches carefully saying Ukraine is forgotten. Happy about oil price rises but not about losing Iran as a close ally. Russia is unlikely to give military aid to Iran but who knows what Putin will do.

Israel will be watching for arms supplies going into Iran, probably Israel has already closed airfields in Iran. In the meantime the drones Iran has been supplying Russia will have stopped.
US bases will be prepared for attacks and ready to respond, not just bases the US has at least 2 Carrier groups in the area.

I fervently hope ( but not optimistic) that we don’t get involved.
