The Ayatollah is expected to make his victory speech to his supporters and so it continues with no end in sight.
A victory speech claiming not much damage done and Iran has delivered a slap in the face to the US, and did damage to the American base.
Followed by a decision to ban any checks on nuclear progress in Iran.
They are named ‘mad mullahs’ and you can really see why.
People often get completely surprised by what the general public actually think.
I wouldn't be sure of that annie.

I might add that Netanyahu is to blame most of all now.
In your opinion and the opinions of many on this thread, I am
in the minority
I might add that Netanyahu is to blame most of all now.

The Jews were first thrown out of their land by the Romans. Since then they have dispersed to other parts of the world including Africa and Europe but some returned to the middle east.
It must be difficult for Israelis to be surrounded by hostile countries and I think the British and the US bear some responsibility for creating this situation.
This can't be rectified now and I think the middle east will always be very unstable.
Not strictly true. What we now think of the state of Israel has always been disputed territory, due to its access to the sea.
The Jewish people were subject to Babylonian rule well before the Romans came along, and also the Greeks under Alexander.
Previous to this they were in captivity in Egypt too.
Yes, the Romans destroyed the temple and made life difficult for the remnant but there have always been Jewish people in that country, living quite peacefully alongside Arabs under Ottoman rule.
Zionists began to arrive and takeover land during the 19th century following pogroms in Eastern Europe.
The state of Israel came into being following WWII when millions of displaced Jews arrived there.
There are more Jewish people living in the US than there are in Israel.
I do agree though, that the US now, and previously Britain, are mostly responsible for the current mess.
However, I refuse to believe it has to be this way. A two state solution will every difficult, but it is the only way to establish some sort of lasting peace.

It would be very unusual if a leader did not give a victory speech, they always have to boost the ‘troops’ and make the best of whatever situation because it could easily affect their own situation.

^By what right do Israel have to continue stealing other peoples property?^
None.
But is less than £16 million worth of fruit, veg and nut imports, to the UK as a whole so a minute proportion of thst to the Co-op, going to make a jot of difference?
Other governments, the UN, huge charities, none of their attempts seem to be making any difference whatsoever.
Until Netanyahu is removed from power, this could continue.
Until Netanyahu is removed from power, this could continue.
I meant the encroachment.
Until all of them are removed from power, ie Netanyahu, Hamas, The Iranian regime etc etc, all of this will continue.
Then what?
Until the next time.

I understand that 22 more West Bank settlements have been agreed by Israel just in the past couple of weeks. These are settlements which forcibly displace the Palestinians who have lived and farmed their land for hundreds of years. Many are killed by the IDF in the process of protecting their homes and means but to no avail.
By what right do Israel have to continue stealing other peoples property?
Someone on another thread said she still would buy Israeli oranges, by coincidence I found out that it was Palestinian farmers who grew these oranges and were self sufficient for years until their trade with the outside world was stopped by Israel.
I won’t go into more detail but it’s easy enough to check for yourselves if interested in the other side of the story. Because there always is another side.

Netanyahu never wanted a two-state solution. Here is a clip from 1978, saying clearly that he does not believe Palestinians have a right to a State of their own.

That was written just two years after the Entebbe incident, perpetrated by Palestinian militants and German terrorists and only six years after 1972, when Palestinian terrorists took 11 Israeli athletes and coaches hostage at the Munich Olympics. Tragically, the episode ended with the massacre of all of the hostages.

So you are in agreement with Iran’s aim to make Israel only for the Palestinians? Claremont
No, not at all. And I totally disagree that Israel should be only for Jews. There should have never been illegal and violent expansion of territory and illegal settlements.
But everytime negotiations seemed to lead to an agreement and a Two State solution, it was violenty cut dead in its tracks. Iksaak Rabin was murdered so it would not happen. And the illegal expansion and illegal settlements continued, relentlessly and violently.
Settlements aside issue it shouldnt be happening but until a change of government there isn’t going to be a change.
The problem the Iran and it’s terrorist allies vow to destroy or Israel. Israel doesn’t want to destroy any country it want to keep what it has, others have been attacking it
Israel has had nuclear weapons for at least 40 yrs it not attacked any state it has proved it can handle them them safely. Iran vows to destroy or Israel, who on GN does not believe they would not do this. All Iran has to do is accept. Israel and prove they are not developing a nuclear weapon, Israel would end the war and sanctions will be lifted benefitted the whole population.
But that’s not the fundamentalist way is it
The two state solution has been talked about since the 1940s, 85 years ago, but it’s mainly talked about by states other than the state of Israel who from the very start clearly had no intention to ever have a two state plan.
The violent expulsion of 750,000 Palestinians who were forced their homes and lands 77 years ago, called the Nakba, was only the start of what continues to this day.
Being Jewish in this country ?
Goldsmiths has apologised to Jewish students and staff after an independent inquiry found it had allowed a “culture” of antisemitism to build up on its campus.
The college, part of the University of London, said it has now launched a two-year “action plan” to combat the problem after admitting the inquiry painted a “disturbing picture” of campus life for those of Jewish faith.

I expect many politicians of all colours had different ideas and views when they were young and living life have changed them.
I am not a fan of Benjamin Netanyahu, but he was elected and is I believe up there with Israel’s longest serving PM’s.
I cannot imagine what it must be like to be Jewish and have your race/religion persecuted over 1,000’s of years. Is it any wonder they want to protect themselves, living in the midst of countries who want to not only see the end of Israel, but the demise of all Jews on the planet.
Exactly Oreo
After what hamas did in Israel any two state agreement has gone out the window for quite some time.Palestinians have nothing to thank hamas for and much to curse them for.
For the future, who knows? Since there are free and fair elections in Israel BN won’t be in power forever.

If Iran withdrew from its aim of destroying Israel then a 2 State solution might be more on the cards? It is beyond sad that so many lives are lost. At the moment, it looks as if Iran has really upped its game so making it increasingly unlikely that Israel can back down. Claremont
