Wonder what Sir Keir Starmer is thinking 🤨

And apparently he decided to blitz Iran arbitrarily - no consultation with advisers which begs the question: is Trump already the dictator he aspires to be? For sure, America's political system doesn't appear to have an effective opposition, nor opposition of any kind.

Putting this madman in the White House gave him a free pass to start World War III.

The Iranian foreign minister ruled out negotiations yesterday until Israel stopped attacking Iran. It was on BBC news.

Trump took that as a signal to attack, as expected from their home base in the US, Iran responded with a heavy missile attack on Israel damage will probably be heavy but that’s was what Netenyahu was expecting.

What happens next depends on Iran, if it attacks US bases and ships it will face the full force of US and Israeli power, in addition the US will try to target Khomeni and anyone else of significance. Given the success of Israeli targeting individuals they will probably succeed, Iran is hopelessly overwhelmed in firepower with no allies capable of helping significantly.

There will be a brief period of attacks, maybe Iran will try to close the Gulf but cannot sustain a long war and will be reduced to small arms very quickly. My bet is on a military takeover in Iran fairly quickly

Iran and Iranians have long memories. I am fearful of reprisals, when & where they’ll be.

Even Trump doesn't know what he will be doing in five minutes and he is in charge. People are killed daily. Stalin said. The death of one man a tragedy, the death of millions a statistic.
It's a scary time.

Someone is suggesting Trump should be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.......

Grandmabatty Sun 22-Jun-25 07:54:03

It appears that Keir Starmer is verbally backing Trump. That doesn't augur well

Whitewavemark2 Sun 22-Jun-25 07:54:29

If it can be contained within the region, bad as it is for those poor souls living there, we can hope that it will soon be over, but if the bigger powers get involved then I am fearful. But honestly apart from China muttering I haven’t heard much else.

Oh, I thought he was calling for calm and the re-start of negotiations.

Whitewavemark2 Sun 22-Jun-25 07:57:10

What I am certain of though is that in another decade Israel will be in the same position once again, unless it is willing to negotiate.

argymargy Sun 22-Jun-25 07:57:49

Trump, who kept going on about how there were “no wars” when he was last president. We all thought he meant that was a GOOD thing…

Grandmabatty Sun 22-Jun-25 07:58:55

He posted on twitter that Iran couldn't have nuclear weapons or something similar and USA was right. I'm paraphrasing but that was the gist of it

Whitewavemark2 Sun 22-Jun-25 08:01:35

Apparently the big bombs were used. Trump is claiming complete obliteration.

I doubt it.

But if he is correct - then job done. Everyone can go home and peace reigns.

ronib Sun 22-Jun-25 08:05:40

Trump’s particular style seems to imply that he and he alone decides when to drop bombs and when not. I would be very worried if I lived in America as democracy doesn’t seem to be working. Is it really possible that Trump is able to make such life and death decisions in a political vacuum?

silverlining48 Sun 22-Jun-25 08:07:51

Pakistan has put forward Trump for the Nobel peace prize.

Whitewavemark2 Sun 22-Jun-25 08:08:52

I think it is called a dictatorship.

😀 they must be kicking themselves now! Perhaps they put his name forward in the hope he would not attack Iran?

Oh I so agree!

Wyllow3 Sun 22-Jun-25 08:14:00

I wonder if it will rebound on Trump, as certainly initially he promised the nation he would not get involved in any more wars. If those in his own party don't agree it will be a welcome split. Anyone au fait with this?

Oh Lord!

Just woken up to this dreadful newssad
