Is Sir Keir In The Last Chance Saloon?

A replacement PM? Then another? And another?

The Conservatives went through an astonishing period of Revolving Door Prime Ministers, so I wonder if we will be about to witness the same in the Labour Party, now that Keir Starmer appears to have lost his authority?

This really is Alice in Wonderland politics.

I am a bit confused to see a very smiling Rachel this morning…. Obviously to pacify the markets but….

“Really, all you need to be Chancellor is bags of confidence, an elite public school education, a completely irrelevant degree and a great deal of family wealth.”

You know that’s rubbish because Gordon Brown had no great wealth behind him, no great judgement either allowing deregulation to get out of control.

Yes, and I believe neither Philip Hammond, nor John Major nor several other previous Chancellors attended public schools. So it isn't a requisite.

Badenough

Why is it ok for posters to misspell Badenoch's name but other posters are castigated for 'misspelling', for example, Meghan as the more well-known version Megan?

Just curious.

Or ‘Faridge’ come to that.
I don’t know why posters do it, it’s juvenile.

Oreo Thu 03-Jul-25 11:50:04

Only acceptable as a mistake in my view as in David49 and apology shows.

MaizieD Thu 03-Jul-25 11:55:41

I don’t know why posters do it, it’s juvenile.

Only in your opinion, Oreo. Other posters' opinions might differ.

I think it's weird that one moment posters are arguing that we are mature and experienced people and the next posters are telling off other posters like bossy little girls in the school playground... (A feature of Gnet that has bemused me for a long time)

Oreo Thu 03-Jul-25 12:03:19

Well MaizieD if you think poking fun at people’s names is mature, what can I say? It doesn’t bother me, I don’t know them and politics is a tough old place but it’s still juvenile to do it on a forum.I last did it at school.😂

I didn't say that I agreed or didn't agree with poking fun at people's names.

I just don't think that being like a bossy school girl is particularly mature. However, I'm sure opinions differ...

Well they’re all kissing and cuddling today so crisis over…..for now.

LizzieDrip Thu 03-Jul-25 12:16:51

Hold my hands up - I’m immaturegrin

No mis-spelling - totally deliberate on my part.

Faridge - just because!
Badenough … come on, surely no explanation required!

Yes, it’s immature but got a bit fed up with all the name calling of Reeves and Starmer so just thought, if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em.

I know I’m also stooping to ‘their level’ but hey ho🤷‍♀️ I can’t be perfect all the timegrin

lafergar Thu 03-Jul-25 12:26:44

Haven't we had 2 teir Keir or Rachel Thieves and so on?

I dunno. Much loved by the tabloids, silly names and alliteration.

Yes, and the rest…

Silly, yes, but we’re not allowed to be silly in return apparently.

Oreo Thu 03-Jul-25 12:47:22

You can be as silly as you like Lizziedrip and in your own words immature, there’s no law against it here or anywhere else.
Yes, in my opinion it’s juvenile and maybe in a lot of posters opinions it’s juvenile too but that doesn’t mean it isn’t allowed.

The way we treat them and what we pay them it's probably as good as its going to get. The best people we need to turn the country around can earn more and keep their privacy elsewhere.

As a lifelong Labour member, I have never been more disappointed with a Labour PM. I was a supporter of Sir Keir since he was Director of Public Prosecutions from 2008 onwards. He was a strong and resolute upholder of decency, trustworthy and someone whom knew his own mind. Since becoming PM he has been anything but, and his prevarication and wobbling is a grave embarrassment to me.

Spellcheck always used to change Farages name to ‘Fartage’ which my juvenile mind used to find amusing. I love Badenough and wish I’d thought of it myself. Especially as I’m so fed up of reading Two Tier Keir all the time. Politics is so depressing these days that I look for anything that can lighten my mood albeit if only for a fleeting moment.
