Yes AnnieB, 'Rebecca' 'Last night I dreamt I went to Manderly again'
So if not that classic, from which literary piece were you quoting?
Sorry folk, for the side track.

Example of a book written by Anonymous

Isn't google great. So If you ask that, you will get versions of technology, innovation, arms trade.
Have a look, to satisfy yourself.

It happens in wars

So dismissive about the killing of children.
I
I will not wave the children card, I death in war is one too
many ,

This is such an appalling, and much worse, comment ever. Playing the children card.

Israel tells UK to jump , I didn’t know of this , what is their power ?

It's fair question from Anniebach , and I too would like to read a simple account of how it is that Israel have such economic power over the UK.

Didn't Manderly burn down?

You are thinking of Daphne de Maurier book , Manderly wasn’t in Israel

One of the points raised upthread was the issue of 'accidently' killing children, during IDF assaults.
Going by the number of these 'accidents', it could be inferred that the IDF was a seriously, poorly trained army with faulty armaments. Yes, I know that young recruits have been dragged into this, but again, I googled, asking
'which are the best trained armies in the world?' and guess what,
the IDF was consitently ranked around 4th in the world.
So again, I don't 'chose to believe' I research to find out.

You have much faith in googling. And “could be inferred “
is a suggestion not a fact .

I'll let you know AnnieB, once I've read the book.
Highly unlikely that he is Hamas, as on the morning of the Atrocity he was getting ready to play tennis.
(If he turns out to be Hamas, I will bin the book and complain to The Guardian.)
Yes, they were once able to do that, just like other normal people.

Thank you but no thanks, I doubt the book starts with
“Last night I dreamt I was in Israel again and it was 7th October
2023 again “

At last. News about a young Gazan diarist, I was following during the early stages of the conflict. He posted daily, in The Guardian, about his surroundings, his family, looking for food, and then he went silent.
He managed to leave Gaza and has now published a book. If you can access The Guardian online his story is there this morning.

Thank you Maremia. I’ll look at that.

The author is anonymous, this is a disappointment , could be Hamas leader

silverlining48 Mon 14-Jul-25 10:17:41

Why most unpleasant?

Anniebach Mon 14-Jul-25 10:10:53

This is most unpleasant , Israel wields a cosh and countries jump ? I do not think this is true

silverlining48 Mon 14-Jul-25 10:07:29

Their power is being best friends with USA.

Anniebach Mon 14-Jul-25 10:03:17

Maremia Mon 14-Jul-25 09:58:30

Talking about 'donations' AnnieB, you know 'lobbying' and the like. Influencing.
Not who they are, or what is their faith and culture.

silverlining48 Mon 14-Jul-25 09:54:15

It’s metaphorical.

silverlining48 Mon 14-Jul-25 09:53:18

Under the cosh is just a term most of us would understand, ie When USA says jump, we say how high, something like that.

Maremia Mon 14-Jul-25 09:46:26

Didn't have to go back to Facebook. Simply googled, 'Did UK politicians receive donations from Israeli connections?'.
There are lots of articles to read. Chose the one from 'Jewish Voice for Labour' and the result is there for any of you to check up for yourself.

Anniebach Mon 14-Jul-25 09:34:17

411 Labour MP’s will take much tracking .
Links with Israel?

Keir Starmer , wife and in-laws are Jews , his London house was
set on fire recently, not No 10 or 11

Several MP’s are Jews, I am not suggesting they are “under Israeli Cosh” what ever that is

'Under the cosh of Israel' ... it might be a little bit more subtle than that.
Facebook, yes I know, not the most reliable of sources, has listed donations from Israeli connections to some of our very prominent Labour politions.
I will spend time trying to track that, and come back with more detail.

Don’t bother.
Attacking Labour politicians now is it? Israeli connections? Starting to sound anti-Semitic already.
As a country we are not ‘under the cosh of Israel’ or anyone else simply because we are allies and do business with them.

😮😮 you are letting your tongue run away with you!

Maremia Mon 14-Jul-25 09:22:45

Anti 'foreign nation' interference in my countries' government is just that. I was anti the Russian interference, that was so prevalent with Johnson and Co.
Please do stop your attempts to mis-label me. It is beginning to look like slander.
And no, you do not dictate what I will or will not research.
