Oreo, you mat be Jewish but that does not mean you are better informed about what causes atrocities.

It means I’m better informed about the Holocaust than you.
Some of your comments are very ill founded and odd.

Caleo Thu 10-Jul-25 11:00:39

Oreo the world is, generally speaking, swinging right. I agree that "most governments" is fair enough. But whoever agrees that majority opinion is the right opinion?

AGAA4 Thu 10-Jul-25 10:57:03

Hamas has been severely weakened. Lost leaders and is not much of a threat to Israel.
Israel is a huge threat to those Palestinians who haven't been killed yet. It's laughable that people still say Israel is defending itself.

No , Anniebach, let's not ignore terrorists. Let's also think about which is the greater of two evils, Hamas or the IDF.

For a long time Israel seemed like us in Europe .Israel was an economically -advanced nation where a secular life was entirely possible.

This is true even today . But Israel has committed too many crimes against humanity and must now be considered terrorist.

Yes let’s think about it, oh wait it’s hamas!
Thankfully you’re at odds with most governments in the world.

Caleo Thu 10-Jul-25 10:49:06

Oreo, to new arrivals at Humanitarian Camp " Take a nice shower after your long journey". Eh?

Jews as victims caused Palestinians to become victims. Victims of victims.

AGAA4 Thu 10-Jul-25 10:47:55

How will we see what happens inside these camps Oreo?

Nobody is blaming Israelis. It's their government that is the problem. Many in Israel are Jewish and I have always liked and respected those I've met.
I'm just concerned about what will happen in these camps as I doubt journalists will be allowed in.

Many? Most in Israel are Jews.
How about seeing what happens instead of catastrophically thinking the worst.

bmacca Thu 10-Jul-25 10:44:35

What Israel is proposing — moving an entire population into a sealed-off camp, screening them, fencing them in, and denying exit — echoes the very architecture of the Warsaw Ghetto. Back then, it was Jewish families being forced into a walled zone “for their safety,” cut off from the world, starved, monitored, and eventually slaughtered. Today, it’s Palestinians. Different decade. Same logic. Same hate.

I’m tired of watching genocide get framed as humanitarianism.

Oreo. you forget that one of the ways the German guards kept order was use of euphemisms

I’m Jewish, and forget nothing.

In response to Oreo 10.26.

LizzieDrip Thu 10-Jul-25 10:35:39

So, would you prefer that we (as a society) don’t try to learn anything from WW2?

We just move on; accept that we’re learning nothing; and leave the Holocaust out of any debate?

Caleo Thu 10-Jul-25 10:32:14

Oreo. you forget that one of the ways the German guards kept order was use of euphemisms

Caleo Thu 10-Jul-25 10:30:06

"It is to be called “humanitarian city”

Sure, and Arbeit macht frei.

Oreo Thu 10-Jul-25 10:26:29

Nope LizzieDrip it wasn’t used in that context but as yet another stick to beat Israelis with and on forums is often the case.
What are we learning from it anyway? Nothing really as there have been many wars all over the world since 80 years ago.
Unless Israel were planning death and torture camps and gassing the Gazans, using them for slave labour, sex slaves and medical experiments, it would be better to leave the Holocaust out of it.

LizzieDrip Thu 10-Jul-25 10:20:21

Harking back to WW2 again Whitewavemark2

Oreo I’m surprised to hear anyone making this derogatory comment.

When we remember the horrors of the Holocaust, are we ‘harking back to WW2 again’?

Of course we’re not.

When we look back at WW2 we’re trying to learn from it - in the hope that such horrors won’t happen again.

Parsley3 Thu 10-Jul-25 10:14:15

I don't support Hamas terrorists and I don't support Jewish terrorists. I do understand Netanyahu a bit better now if he is being forced to act on the bidding of extremists who were once trying to kill him. It is a reason, but not a justification, of why Israel continues to attack Gaza. My next question is, if this humanitarian city is established will the attacks continue with the reason given that it houses Hamas operatives? As usual, no proof will be needed after the event.

Maremia Thu 10-Jul-25 09:38:00

Should we also ignore the Genocide?

Anniebach Thu 10-Jul-25 09:12:58

So again let’s ignore Hamas

Whitewavemark2 Thu 10-Jul-25 09:08:43

So let’s explore the two main individuals Smotrich and Ben Gvir in the Israeli government who are calling for the annihilation of the Palestinians.

Previous to them entering the Israeli government they belonged to political parties that were extreme and close to terrorism - in fact many described them as terrorists.
In fact Netanyahu’s body guard protected him from these terrorists who were intent on killing him.

There are backbenchers who are calling for the death of all Palestinians.

And now they want us to believe that they have nothing but the Palestinians welfare at heart by building a “humanitarian city “ whilst at the same time using those lining up for food as target practice, and continuing to bomb and kill children at school etc.

Gas lighting in the extreme

Anniebach Thu 10-Jul-25 08:55:48

Quote AGAA4 Thu 10-Jul-25 08:51:59
While Israel, a once great country, is being run by an extreme right government there will be no humane outcome for the people of Gaza.
We have seen these camps before and it is horrifying that this is happening again.

And the government of Gaza will give a humane outcome?

AGAA4 Thu 10-Jul-25 08:51:59
