Freya5. Perhaps he should be allowed to speak. After all, he's not there very often. Then he can return to travelling back and forth to the USA as he seems to prefer being there. Right wingers seem to like liars and grifters.

Sometimes but not always. We often shout at the tv 'let them answer the question' at interviewers when the MP is actually answering the question, because they are actually answering it.

I think MP’s are fed up with being constantly interrupted when they’re trying to give an answer to the question they’ve been asked.

But isn’t that often because they’re trying to slither around the question like an oiled snake, and give an answer to the question they wish they’d been asked, instead?

I feel that for many a long year we were told if only there were more women in politics everything would be so much better. There are lots of women in politics now and it has only got worse. It's not confined to any party. Im not saying women have made it worse, just that it hasn't improved because of them.

I always thought the idea that if women were in politics everything would be better was quite ridiculous. Women are no different from men when it comes to protecting the interests of themselves, their families and the wider community.

Look at women in mythology, the Amazons, the Valkyries, all those wicked stepmothers. then we had women leaders; Golda Maie, Mrs Ghandi, Mrs Banderanaike, Benazir Bhutto, even Aung San Suu Kyi such a noble martyr when in prison and opposition, so unprepared to brook opposition when in power - and of course - there is Mrs Thatcher.

Of course people always say they had to be like men to succeed, but that did not apply to either Aung San Suu Kyi, or Teresa May

I watched an interview with Richard Tice today. He talked over the woman trying to ask questions and get a coherent answer from him instead of the rubbish he was spouting.

He was a good example of being rude and self opinionated.

Oh of course he was. Perhaps it was payback time after rude Labour MPs were told to shut up for not letting Nigel Farage speak last week in Parliament.

Speaking anecdotally, I have found that baby girls tend to start talking earlier than boys but could that be because girls actually listen to what is being said to them then can repeat it?

Yes. DGD is a good example compared with her brothers.

Its why girls are often out-performing boys at school these days.

Although DS was very late in talking compared to his sisters but then spoke in sentences. He was obviously listening and taking it all in before he attempted to speak.

If only politicians did the same 😀

A BiL of mine apparently barely uttered until he was 3, but it then came out in whole sentences. He’d just been taking it all in and biding his time. Might add that he turned out exceedingly bright.

I think most female and male, politicians, talk fast because they have been invited for an interview about a particular subject, and know that they will only be allowed to talk for less than a minute before they are interrupted by an aggressive interviewer with a totally different question, or expressing their own point of view.
Andrew Marr, Nick Robinson, Camilla Tominey, Emily Maitlis and Mischal Hussein spring to mind.

No, I do not agree. It's a sign of lack of knowledge or research for both parties, men or women. Or they tell lies, Boris and Farage being prime examples.

I think the problem with women's voices is probably the pitch.
I expect if you heard men and women say the same thing quickly the timbre of the voice would make most men sound slower than most women.

I had to turn the news off the other day as the female presenter/newsreader was speaking at a pitch that defeated my mother-in-law.

She has recently been unable to wear her hearing aids and often can't differentiate the sounds with women speaking.
I've noticed that she struggles with higher pitched carers' voices too.
Her audiologist says the higher sounds are often the first to find difficult.

Everyone talks to fast these days, you can't have a proper conversation.

I said in particular women. I am one. Not confined to women of course. Was talking about the rudeness of talking over people, I am sure it's to use allotted time in that interview without actually saying anything. Fortunately throughout my working and private life I have had little problem dealing with the opposite sex. A lot of you seem to have come across a lot of self opinionated and arrogant men.

How very true. Women have to grab any chance to make their point and make the very most of it.

Men take it for granted that they have an almost sacred right to have the conversation all to themselves and arrogantly almost shout a woman down, cut across her contribution and dismiss her opinions out of hand.

Of course, in times long gone by a woman 'speaking out of turn' could expect to, literally, be slapped down.

I feel really feel exhausted listening to them. Its as though they are in a race and everything they say is pre rehearsed and said in this awful tone moni tone voice with no variation. Which sounds really loud and false and lands as being devoid of any real feeling and meaning

They sound like preprogrammed Robot Drones. Like a possible future scene from The Handmaidens Tale or in a new West World film

Nigel Farage is good at speaking in a very measured, calm way.

Not sure anybody chooses politicians because they don’t talk over others! It’s a regular occurrence when politicians are interviewed and not confined to women. But then, so is the loud bombastic interviewer gaining in popularity.

Yes its a technique they are taught - keep talking non-stop so no-one else can get a word in edgeways or ask awkward questions in the allotted time.
