... as if they are MSM copy editors? Why not just say what you want to talk about?

^I think both the unclear headlines and capitals are habits picked up from the less respectable news papers and news programmes^
They try to say the article following is "headline grabbing" i.e., it demands attention
These are NOT articles, they are threads and thread titles are NOT headlines.
So feel free to sub- edit somewhere else!

Sorry, forgot this was GN. Correction follows:

"I think both the unclear headlines and capitals are habits picked up from the less respectable news papers and news programmes."

"They" ( the newspapers ) "try to say the article following is "headline grabbing" i.e., it demands attention. On a forum, I prefer to make that decision for myself."

another thing to feel paranoid about

I think that one of the most interesting things about social media is different writing styles, views, etc.

There are times I wish that extended to us all Galaxy.

The insinuation is still very much that posters who use thread titles that do not conform to your preferred presentation must be avid consumers of less respectable news papers and news programmes. How arrogant! Perhaps you could list the 'respectable' outlets from which people should gain their habits?

I'm not altogether sure who or what you are talking about, PN.

Which 'people'?

What 'headlines?

We could ask, 'Why do people on Gnet write post titles that don't make much sense?' Clickbait?

I agree. I'm confused too.confused

The newspapers we respect and don't respect will vary from person to person. Are you now suggesting you will not allow me to hold or talk to those views?

You do seem to be simply posting in order to pick a fight.

On the contrary, I'm not picking a fight nor am I questioning your right to hold your views or to express them. I'm commenting that I find the stated views of some of your fellow posters to be arrogant. Are you suggesting you will not allow me to comment on your posts? If you are so sure their practices have been influenced by being consumers of less respectable news papers and news programmes you should be able to list both them and the respectable resources they could be influenced by instead.

Why do you find it manipulative?

Why don't you?

No.

Allira Sun 20-Jul-25 15:53:37

I find not having a complete subject a minor irritation
So no big deal, then?
Certainly not manipulative?

I'm confused.

I know you feel the need to oppose
Is that meant as a personal attack because it rather feels like one?

No, I don't generally feel the need to oppose but if something is posted which is contradictory or attacks how others style their posts, is it not worth questioning?

Allira Sun 20-Jul-25 15:57:40

For what it's worth, I think Politics threads should have their own heading anyway.

I agree.
Does that make us a clique?

Oh, the irony!!
