He died today. Only 76.
Thoughts for Sharon and his family.

Everyone who has spoken about him on TV has said what a lovely person he was. He said hearing The Beatles made him want to get into music. That makes him more endearing to me.

Never heard of him.

I never understand why people feel the need to post on a thread like this just to say that. Why bother?

Hate Heavy Metal, don't like drug takers or heavy drinkers.....but there was something in Ozzy that I fell in love with. What a guy x

Unusual for a rock and roller to live into an old age like Ozzy.

I wasn't a huge fan of BS.

I hated the reality show.

But I accept he seemed a good guy who but for some twists of fate, would have otherwise lived a very unremarkable life. As it is he lived a full and interesting one.

I first saw Black Sabbath as a teenager in the early 70s and have loved rock, particularly metal ever since. Now 70 , I have since seen them again in 2013 and at the final night of 'The End'tour in Birmingham in 2017, with my son who is also a big fan. Ozzy was such a character and will be sorely missed. We had already planned a day trip to Brum next month to see the Ozzy exhibition, all the more poignant now. RIP Ozzy

He certainly made the most of his life and gave pleasure to so many people. I was shocked at his appearance in 2012 but his will kept him going until now, he will live on in so many people’s memories as a trouper to the end.

R.I.P Ozzy

He was born in 1948 = 77
I was born in 1949 - I’m 76! Ok he wouldn’t have been 77 until December apparently, but even so! 77

Jaxjacky Wed 23-Jul-25 16:03:29

harrigran I saw him at MoR in 1996 - co headlining with Kiss, loads of fun.

Always been a metal fan and saw Black Sabbath back in the day! Wish I could have gone to Brum for his final gig but too long a trip. RIP Ozzy ❤️

Kandinsky Wed 23-Jul-25 15:41:13

For the life he led - 76 is a good age!

I must admit the only Black Sabbath song I know is ‘Paranoid’ ( which is a great song )

Will worryNO ONE*

suelld Wed 23-Jul-25 15:34:02

Was never into his type of music, and all that costume/ makeup … when he became more as part of the Osbourne family reality ‘show’ he never seemed to change and always looked and sounded like a drugged up hippy to me!
I am sorry for his family, any loss is hard, but I was never interested in him. That will worry one… just my surface opinion. The only thing I do commend him for was staying in a solid family for so long.

My aunt died at the age of 71 from a brain tumour at the beginning of the month. I’m more sad about that. But I feel every sympathy for his wife and children.

SillyNanny321 Wed 23-Jul-25 15:23:21

Heavy Metal is my music & Ozzy was a big part of that with Sabbath & on his own. So sad now as thought he was going on for much longer. RIP one of my Heroes!

Bea65 Wed 23-Jul-25 15:16:40

Yes very likeable Brummie always a wild one but my sympathies to Sharon and his family..🩷

icanhandthemback Wed 23-Jul-25 14:46:13

It was a sad day for me when I heard he had died. I saw him in 1978 when I was 17 and it was a fantastic gig. I was due to see him twice since then but his health suffered so the gigs were cancelled. I would have loved to see him a fortnight ago but it was too expensive. I am just so glad he got to perform again.
Ozzie was an ADHDer like me and his impulsivity got him to a bit of trouble but I always sensed that he had a good heart. RIP Ozzie.

harrigran Wed 23-Jul-25 07:52:31

Sad to hear that Ozzy has died. Heavy Metal music has been a big part of our family life.
In 1986 I won a competition which gave me two tickets for Monsters of Rock at Castle Donington.
I gave the tickets to DD and her then boyfriend and we drove them there. At the end of the day we went back to collect them and I sat on a fence listening to Ozzy, truly memorable.

Allsorts Wed 23-Jul-25 07:35:00

It's good he got home! That's what he trained for over last sux years and then appear and raise so much in local Aston Villa Stadium. He got his wish.

TerriBull Wed 23-Jul-25 07:33:08

So sorry to hear about the death of Ozzy, so soon after his last concert too. I'm glad he was here in England surrounded by family. Heavy metal have lost one of their icons. What a character, often genuinely funny when that show The Osbornes was on.

RIP Ozzie

Bridie22 Wed 23-Jul-25 07:07:52

So sad to see you go Ozzy, but pleased you got to play your final concert with your friends and band, it was something to see!
You will be missed 🎶🎵
