Good news.

Park Hotel at Diss, Norfolk have just announced they will not accommodate single men illegal immigrants.

There were protests at the hotel a few nights ago because locals do not want this small town invaded. It was peaceful until the pro migrant groups turned up who don’t even live there.

Anyway, well done the Park Hotel. 👏👏

The booking had been made months in advance because it was an old school reunion with members from many places, including overseas!
Very annoying.

My SIL was booked into a nice hotel recently by his employer for two nights, there were three employees. They discovered once there at breakfast that the hotel was probably half full of asylum seekers. When booking any hotel it’s a good idea to check first.

People like Farage are aiming for a summer of disruption. I hope gransnet doesn’t become full of threads attempting to fuel it…

I hope it does!

Does discord and disruption float your boat?

Personally, I'd rather have a summer full of sunny, warm days and lots of opportunities to drink tea in the garden.

I want that too but am so worried about the numbers of irregular immigrants coming into the country. Reform needs to keep up the highlighting of this issue and I hope they do. Every single one of my friends feels like I do and plenty on this forum too going by the threads on here.

Do you think it is acceptable for Farage to blatantly lie to incite people to turn against the police who are trying to maintain the peace Teazel2?

Wasn’t it Farage who told people that if they voted leave it would protect our borders and stop illegal immigration?

Did the asylum seekers bother them in any way?

Casdon Overwhelming the police seems to be part of the plan. The theory seems to be that there aren't enough police to go round, if enough hotels are attacked.

I know, I think Farage lying about the police deliberately bussing in counter demonstrators was beyond the pale though. Very little press coverage, unsurprisingly.

growstuff Thu 24-Jul-25 21:59:01

They seem to think they're heroic patriots about to start a revolution.

What they're doing is destroying communities.

Classic!

Those who are calling people objecting “ far right” and “racists” should have been in Diss and seen the local Mums who just want their children to be safe. They are just ordinary parents who care.

In fact by calling people these names they are making ordinary people even more determined to have their say and join the protests.

They just don’t want undocumented single young men being housed in their small town and near to their schools.

Great example to their children. Showing it’s ok to threaten people and attack the police.

Nobody attacked anybody at Diss! As I said before, it was just a peaceful protest mainly from locals and parents of schoolkids.

Would you be happy with all these undocumented single men arriving en masse if you had a daughter going to school when one has been charged and gangs of them are hanging around teenage girls outside schools. Even the school has sent notes home to parents warning them.

If they can't get to asylum seekers, they'll target the police.

Do you honestly think they're going to arrive in their millions and overwhelm you?

It’s people like growstuff who don’t understand what some areas have become and why it angers residents.Politicians are much the same unfortunately or at least many of them.
Reading this thread it does seem that most posters get it.
Politicians who scoff at residents concerns don’t deserve to run a constituency and will probably be out of power in four years.

Primrose53 Thu 24-Jul-25 22:03:49

If the masked pro migrant crowd had not turned up it would have been even more peaceful. Calling Mums “racists and far right” is just stirring things up. People watching this on TV realise this and don’t like it so even more people are coming out on the side of those who think enough is enough.

Casdon Thu 24-Jul-25 22:15:25

People have a right to peaceful protest, whoever they support Primrose53. What is inexcusable is politicians deliberately perpetuating lies about what happened, because they will ultimately be responsible for fuelling the flames of riot, which achieves no useful purpose whatsoever.

escaped Thu 24-Jul-25 22:20:51

Without wishing to appear I'm alright Jack, I'm not overly worried about the irregular immigrants in my area as those housed are largely families, and the number is low.
What I am really concerned about, though, is the provocative nature of different groups nationwide who fuel violence. The trouble is, this hostile behaviour won't go away until we see something far more radical being done to sort out this immigration mess. It's one and the same problem, and it wouldn't hurt some people to show understanding for the concerns that others have on this front.

growstuff Thu 24-Jul-25 23:25:23

escaped Do you think the concerns are actually justified?

Errrmmm ... I didn't realise "pro migrant" protesters wore English flags or had tattoos with Nazi slogans. It's amazing what people will do to disguise themselves hmm.

growstuff Thu 24-Jul-25 23:35:15

People like growstuff? Hmmm ... actually, I do read about people's concerns. I just happen to think "some" people have disappeared down a rabbit hole and become paranoid. What we're seeing is some genuine concerns. If you read what I wrote, I agreed that the hotel in Diss is right to object to single men being moved in with their current residents (who have been there for two years), who are mainly single mothers with children. That's just asking for trouble.

What we're seeing are lies and a lot of provocation by people who couldn't give two hoots about the safety of women and children, but have another agenda. People like Farage are particularly pernicious because he rarely gets involved himself in any direct action, but just stirs the pot and then shrugs his shoulders and disclaims any responsibility.

growstuff - you really are out of touch with what decent law abiding taxpayers want. We don't want our children and grandchildren to be unable to walk down the street because it is unsafe for them. We don't want our pensioners cold because their winter fuel allowance was spent on migrants in hotels. We don't want our homeless people sleeping in the cold this winter whilst illegal migrants are in warm hotel beds. We don't want them jumping the queue for social housing. We don't want SEN children in schools ignored because budgets are being spent on EAL children. We can't see a GP now let alone in the future if this influx carries on. We don't want another student like Libby Squire being raped and murdered. We don't want a repeat of Southport. Those beautiful girls and their amazing brave dignified parents deserve our support and love. What we do need is an end to our country being destroyed and Reform are the party to turn the tide.

Does that mean that I’m not a decent law abiding tax payer because I don’t approve of the racism stirred up by Farage and his followers?

Bukkie Fri 25-Jul-25 00:00:44

MayBee70 - Farage and his followers do not stir up racism, they speak common sense and they speak for what many people now feel the country needs. Accusing people of being racist because they don't want the country being swamped with young men committing crimes is why the Southport riots happened last year.

“Members of one of Britain's biggest fascist groups have been helping to organise anti-migrant protests in Epping and are attempting to spread disorder to towns and cities across the country.
Three members of Homeland are sole administrators of Epping Says No, a Facebook group with over 1,500 members. The group has been used to advertise and coordinate protests that have taken place outside the Bell Hotel in the Essex town over the past 11 days.
Homeland was founded in 2023 after splintering from Patriotic Alternative, previously Britain's dominant neo-Nazi organisation.
On Wednesday, two of the three Homeland members helping to organise protests published a “national call to action” on their social media pages, calling for further protests to take place across the country at hotels
Protesters have been wrongly told that the Britannia International Hotel is housing migrants transferred from an Essex hotel

where migrants are being housed. “If you live in an area that has a hotel occupied by asylum seekers, start organising,” the notice read.
After the race riots last summer, there are fears in government that the protests may spread. Essex police are braced for two further protests in Epping this week.”
From The Times. These are the sort of people that are organising the protests. Do those of you that agree with these protests not realise who you are actually supporting?

Bukkie Fri 25-Jul-25 00:50:06

I completely agree that riots are not the answer and how the police were treated and abused last summer was disgraceful but people are desperate about what is happening to this country and reacted impulsively. Apart from Reform no other party is listening to people's fears and concerns. I cried a couple of days ago watching the news report about a playground being redeveloped at the school two of the Southport victims went to. If this country hadn't been flooded with undesirables they would be still running around on that playground.

The Southport killer was born in the UK. There is no hint that his parents did anything undesirable. The murders had nothing to do with the current immigration issues, so why are you linking them? Do you cry every time a child is murdered?

growstuff Fri 25-Jul-25 01:35:47

Maybee I wonder if they know. Homeland, which has done much of the co-ordinating behind the Epping and Diss protests, is a neo-Nazi group, which tries to present a "repectable" image in public.

Homeland exploits justifiable concerns for its own agenda. It's anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim, but its main ideology is anti-semitic. It promotes ideas about Jews holding global power and wanting to replace Western culture. They are not so much "in your face" as some other operators like Tommy Robinson or Paul Golding, but they're better political operators and more clever.

Their theory is that once social cohesion has been damaged, they can step in to take over - hence the attacks on the police and law/order.

Nobody has been charged with anything at Diss, so stop spreading fake news.

I live just a couple of miles from this asylum centre. There are hundreds of single men living there. There are children living in the area and two primary schools in neighbouring villages. AFAIK there have been no allegations of sexual abuse. Maybe people could stop thinking that I live in some kind of bubble.

Incidentally, my next door neighbours are black Africans. Next time I bump into them, maybe I should ask to see their work visas. They're perfect neighbours, but you never know ...

Are you joking? Farage is an arch-stirrer.

Why do you keep mentioning Southport? The murders had nothing to do with current immigration. Do you want to rid the country of all young males?

I'm afraid I do think people who make these kind of links are racist (and not very well-informed).

growstuff Fri 25-Jul-25 04:20:10

Bukkie There were 253 recorded sex offences in the Epping Forest area in 2023. Did I miss the protests for them? I expect they were carried out by men. Are we going to exterminate all men?

Strength in numbers, eh? Teazel

You have some delightful (?) people on your side.

Here are some comments from just on X (Twitter) thread:

Hope the protests are outside every hotel in every town in every county all at the same time! Overwhelm the police resources!!! Let the UK start fighting back.

This is the last thread of playing nice. Foreigners should exit while they have the opportunity.

It’s about time! Clean Western Civilization up!!!

Stop the Islamization of Europe!

Well let's hope it's a fire that will catch and grow. I pray for the UK

Bring your pigs with you. They believe that if one drop of pig blood touch them they will not going to paradise.

You know what to do if they don’t listen patriots. Light a match.

Start wrecking shit that support the invasion and the people who gaslight everyone. Get results this go round. It's past time.

We don’t want these unvetted sex pests in our communities, it’s not fair for our women and children. WHO AGREES? RETWEET ON X AN SICIAL MEDIA

The revolution has begun. It hasn't started until I see a British version of the SturmAbteilung marching through major occupied cities.

FANTASTIC PEOPLE DONT LET STARMER AND LEFTY ADJITATORS STOP YOU .

I know you guys don’t have firearms, but maybe show up with at least pitchforks and torches.

Bring your dogs and let them loose

I think you have become rather confused here and seem to think those of us concerned about levels of immigration are in agreement with the quotes you have given from X. Neither myself nor my friends nor posters on this forum have made such comments or agree with them. Why would you assume we can all be lumped together in this way?
