It’s up and running today. The name of the new party hasn’t been announced yet.

This just now in the Telegraph:

“The former Labour leader and his fellow now-independent MP said it was “time for a new kind of political party” in a statement today.

The pair have invited voters to sign up to the Left-wing faction via the website yourparty.uk, although The Telegraph understands the new project will not be called Your Party and that its name is to be confirmed.

It comes after Mr Corbyn told activists that the new movement would be established in time to fight Labour nationwide at the local elections in May next year.

In a joint statement, Mr Corbyn and Ms Sultana said: “It’s time for a new political party. One that belongs to you. The system is rigged.”

Well well.
It will split the Labour vote for sure. Starmer won’t be happy.

I agree keepingquiet tho I have no time for Sultana either.
Both angry shouty rebels is all.

Allira

I'd say a Shropshire Spaniel but they're extinct, sadly.

Maybe that is appropriate.

Allira

Jeremy with the canine version of Boris.

Actually, Jeremy seems quite fond of dogs in all the photos online.

I think you ought to know Allira, the one and only important four legged creature in Jeremy's life was always El Gato that cat had a cult following equal only to Larry. Heaven knows why he appears to have veered off into the canine world for what I can see is merely a photo opportunity. You're either a cat or dog person, some say you can't be both hmm

No vote from me. He utterly failed to give a lead on defeating Brexit. In my opinion he's out to lunch on a wide range of issues, wasted Labour's time for years and rubbished Labour's achievements under Blair.

Sultana may be from Bradford but Corbyn has Islington running through him like a stick of rock.
So hardly Yorkshire Terriers.

Corbyn was brought up not far from me in a very big house in the country.
Somehow that's rarely mentioned.
(We lived in a very small house.)

He likes to play down his roots.

and partly privately educated.

To be fair a lot was made of his origins when he was first voted leader of the Labour party, complete with photos of his childhood home, but this didn't last long. Unlike Cameron and Johnson and the constant reminders of the Bullingdon Club.

and partly privately educated.
Although his mother taught in the State system 🙂

I understand this new party will be called Your Party (jokes about 'It's Your Party and You'll Cry if You Want To' aside) I feel, sadly, this could be called 'Your New Up and Running Antisemitic Party'.

Allira Thu 24-Jul-25 20:08:37

The senior school he attended was a Voluntary Aided State Grammar School although I think it's a fee paying independent now.

Good ! Go away Corbyn, Sultana and take Diane Abbot with you. Yes it may split the Labour vote and the LP a broad church but we don’t need disrupters

Can’t agree keepingquiet with what you say about two main parties. What do you mean “look what happened to the Greens, the Lib Dem’s”? Flourishing, both of them.

But I agree that JC only seems to campaign on issues that interest him, currently Palestine which may explain the rush of support.

I think KS will see this off without much difficulty.

Corbyn , “response calls are coming in 500 a minute “ !

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 24-Jul-25 22:07:34

“I am 12 now and me and my mates all can't wait to vote for this party at the next general election”…. 😂

Your recognition of me made me laugh Casdon!

keeping quiet - Reform is just the Tory party re-named.

You think so?
Interesting.

Terribull - you mentioned not underestimating the Greens.
I have been expecting them to increase for it feels like a decade or more.
Hasnt happened in any significance.
You think they will soon?

Oh no, he's a cat person! 😯

I definitely can't vote for him now, I'm a dog person 😁

Allira Thu 24-Jul-25 22:19:40

Oh here we are, Jeremy's on the telly!

Oreo Thu 24-Jul-25 22:20:28

What’s he saying?

Oreo Thu 24-Jul-25 22:23:01

He should call the new Party, The Rebels as that’s essentially what they are.
Or The One Cause Party.

Allira Thu 24-Jul-25 22:29:33

The Mavericks?

Casdon Thu 24-Jul-25 22:29:55

I thought maybe FreeForm would be a good name for the party, it would be descriptive of the role it would have, and confusing and irritating if we had Reform and FreeForm, which would be fun.

Allira Thu 24-Jul-25 22:31:35

Well, that could confuse voters!!

Just imagine if one of those parties won: "I didn't vote for them" 🤔

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 24-Jul-25 22:31:44

Only launched this morning and at 140,000, already has more members than the tories!

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 24-Jul-25 22:32:21

The Leftovers?

Isn’t it a Tena Lady product tho?🤭

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 24-Jul-25 22:34:15

Whatever they decide to call the new party, a load of Labour voters will defect to them - giving each of them 10% of the vote and holing both of them below the waterline I suspect.

Starmer will not be amused.
