It is very difficult to understand what is really happening and what are lies being perpetrated by Israel or Hamas. Add to this reporting restrictions and it is surprising we know as much as we do.

I haven't seen any posts denying that antisemitism is rife Anniebach.
It always has been. I have mistakenly suffered it myself so find it particularly grotesque.

We have a real problem with anti Semitism here just now. I don’t think it is anything whatsoever to do with Israel and Netanyahu, they just use that as an excuse to attack synagogues and make disrespectful and nasty remarks to Jewish people living here. Many , I am sure, would never have even been to Israel.

It has everything to do with this genocide and Netanyahu- everything. And nothing to do with antisemitism.

This is what many Jewish people are saying, both from Israel and the diaspora all over the world, that what Netanyahu and the IDF are doing, is what will put every Jew in danger as never before.

Our Jewish friends were subjected to antisemitism on the very day that Hamas attacked Israel, before Israel had retaliated.

Not sure that fits in with your theory ?

To all on this thread, your thoughts on my posts should not be
a reason to ignore my request

“Please don’t deny Antisemitism has been in the world for centuries and not only since the Israeli/Gaza war October 2023

This thread gets more surreal by the minute.Quoting chunks of bible, letters from Quakers!
Bizarre.

Why is this bizarre. It makes total sense in the context, 100%.

And no-one is sneering at other people's faiths.

Netanyahu was on the news this morning blaming the UN for not letting the aid trucks through. What have the UN to gain by not letting the food through to Gaza? No benefit to them.
What has Israel to gain by not allowing the aid in to Gaza? The continuing plan of starving the Palestinians maybe.
Netanyahu said yesterday that the war would go on until Israel has full victory in Gaza. I think we know what that means.

Exactly Claremont, and many religious folk are out and out hypocrites.

I take it that you both aren’t religious either then.🤔

Many atheists and humanists are out and out hypocrites.
Many people of faith do their best to follow the faith they were brought up in, or discovered as adults. The major faiths share similar core beliefs
Live and let live and don’t sneer at faiths

I would just like to gently say that my reference to the bible was related to a specific instance, where illegal settlers - who claim that they are the “chosen ones” and have a right to stolen land, were the ones trying to prevent the lorries from entering Gaza.

I am a humanist, and I hope that I am never accused of hypocrisy!

Antisemitism has been with us for ever, it’s rife now in universities so will continue to future generations.
I am in contact with many Jewish communities in parts of the UK and in other countries , it certainly didn’t start 7th October
2023 , the Israeli/Palestine war feeds it

One of very few post of yours that I can agree with.

Except that just like any religious/racism and the push back against the culture wars we must never stop protesting.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 28-Jul-25 08:03:03

“Keir Starmer to recall his cabinet from summer break for emergency meeting on Gaza crisis this week amid growing international horror over situation on ground in territory.

PM will urge Donald Trump to take tougher stance towards Israel on aid and push for ceasefire talks to resume at talks in Scotland today.”

Never stop protesting, it may seem an impossible struggle, but never lose our humanity and live for our fellow man.

As regards what I missed out, I'd suggests something along the lines of "^I think that supporting Jewish people who are suffering from increased anti-semitism but are not happy with Netanyahu's regime is a positive step that can be taken^" ?

Really,,Israelis who support their government should suffer hatred ? not what any Quakers I know would support

Who said anything about hatred of those who support their government?

I couldn't recall the end of the story, thank you. Thanks be.

I can't find another update.
Her pregnant mother was still in Gaza with her own mother.

The latest news I could find is that she is in Jordan with her blind father and grandmother. I think she's still there. Her mother is still in Gaza.

Siwar is one of the lucky ones - I hope she's getting good treatment and thrives.

Well said, Iam64

Quoting religious scripts may merely show someone is good at googling but may not not show they have true belief.

Spot on in my case.

How can non religious people be hypocritical about religious texts they neither follow or believe in???

Annie, again and again, and again some more- we all deplore antisemitism. BTW Palestinians are also semites be definition.

Sweetpeasue I had to turn down the volume in that bit of of the news. I could not bear it, or cry the whole way through.

Baby Siwar was evacuated from Gaza in June with her father and grandmother.
Her mother was unable to breastfeed her as she herself was malnourished and the baby has a problem which means she needed a special milk formula.
I hope she is recovering now.

Maremia Sun 27-Jul-25 21:48:07

To the letter, Annie, should you wish to use it.
I will definitely have a go.
Thanks again.

Maremia Sun 27-Jul-25 21:46:25

You may take what you like from my comment Oreo. My beliefs, or lack thereof, are of no relevance to you.
Bible bashing? Surely you are not trying to dictate the narrative?

Maremia Sun 27-Jul-25 21:43:15

Thank you Wyllow3, we can all add our own wee nuances to this letter. It is very useful to have an example of issues we could raise.
You don't have to think of everything.
It's good to be pro-active, in an effort to make a difference.
