I’m ignoring it. I’m sure it is anything except Epstein.

I bet the Russians feel the same.

Yes, I see this as more of the increasingly desperate attempts at deflection by Mr Trump.

I totally agree. How to say ' I'm guilty' without saying 'I'm guilty' in every way possible .

Meanwhile Ghislaine Maxwell has been moved to a minimum security jail after her little Epstein files chats with Trump’s ‘people’. A presidential pardon for her role in procuring young girls for Epstein has not been ruled out.

Am surprised there isn’t a thread about it on GN

I doubt this latest thing is anything to worry about, just the usual Russian bluster and Trump replying in kind to them.

It’s really to counter the Russian nuclear strike threat, publicizing the movement is a signal to “us” not to Putin, he knows it happens all the time.

If the US puts Tariffs on Russian oil that will hurt Russia badly, China and India in particular. Because Putin is not negotiating seriously a deadline has been set by Trump, when that expires Im expect Ukraine will be allowed to attack more targets in Russia. The US may even supply more offensive weapons Putin will likely respond with a nuclear threat

Having recently watched "Threads" there are worrying similarities to the build up.

The horror of that film stayed with me for many days. We watched it in 1984 when it was originally made and it had the same effect then.

A powerful and disturbing film.

It seems a pointless announcement the USA like U.K. have their nuclear submarines on permanent patrol.

At a guess I imagine POTUS thinks it makes him look big

Yes, Grannygravy13, spot on!
So do Russia and other countries who have nuclear-powered submarines.

Does he think we're all a few cards short of a deck?

See what you did there 😉

Russian media are saying Trump had a temper tantrum and their security minister said he doesn't believe he's moved any submarines.
Worryingly it seems the Russians are the adults.

Allira Sat 02-Aug-25 22:38:24

Well, Oreo, from what I heard him saying on BBC News this evening, he doesn't understand the concept at all.
Scary!!

Oreo Sat 02-Aug-25 11:18:11

He may or may not be aware of the difference Allira and it could be the case that the top brass think it’s better he doesn’t know.😂

Not a good idea to underestimate Russia and their weapons can teach the US.

As all US submarines are nuclear powered it's likely he means nuclear armed, though it's anyone's guess really but l don't think his intention is bluff.

Yes, but how do we know what he means?
And perhaps he doesn't understand the difference 😯

I dont think the Epstein stuff will go away in our lifetimes.
It is all far too big and important.

Trump doesn’t like wars, they interfere with business.

Oh what a good point.
Though not sure about US arms sales.

Oreo Sat 02-Aug-25 09:51:01

You either have nuclear capabilities which means you can reach other countries with them, or you can’t.
Russia wouldn’t dare touch the US or it would be obliterated itself moments later.
The world has observed that in a conventional war that Russia is hopeless.

The US has the most military might in the world and can therefore choose who it supports and who it doesn’t.
Russia, as we have seen, really doesn’t, it botched things in Ukraine from the start.

Russia have more nuclear weapons than the US.

I don't think the US will forget about Epstein. Trump has been threatened by China over tariffs.
This will die down and Epstein will be still there.
It just worries me that this mad man could cause a war eventually.

I think that is a real worry tbh. What is it with these powerful men who will cause/continue with war to further their own ends.

How on earth did we end up with such evil monsters?

Or he could stop them, as they are already happening.

Russia made threats about their nuclear capabilities to the US, a really really stupid thing for them to do.
That was in response to the tariffs and sanctions that the US is promising will happen in 12 days time.
I don’t agree that Trump needs to stop interfering and would bet my boots that Zelensky doesn’t want him to stop either.
Only the US can alter the outcome of Russia’s aggression into Ukraine.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 02-Aug-25 09:30:11

It’s all good for Trump. Russia threatens so USA rallies around Trump and puts Epstein to one side.

Gaza offers a good amount of development business. He will allow Israel to clear it then offer to re-build as a vast price.

AGAA4 Sat 02-Aug-25 09:22:05

Russia is annoyed about Trump's ultimatums and has no intention of changing their ways for him.
They have made a threat now talking about 'dead hand' which means a nuclear strike on the USm
Trump needs to stop interfering in other nations who won't listen but he stands back on Gaza where he could have done some good
