Much as I dislike Trump I believe he might have enough influence to achieve this.

There needs to be a long-term plan though. The Palestinians need to accept that Israel exists and is not going away. They must be given some land which can be called Palestine and then both sides need to accept each other. Surely the other Islamic countries can get together and organise a new state for them. Why are these things always left to us?

If you disappear again we will know why claremont 😄😄

It would only be for an anti semitic comment, or several as the moderators decide on these things.

Claims of anti semitism should always be taken seriously and if true investigated accordingly as should claims of Islamophobia, I personally have not seen antisemitism on threads like this though it has often been used as a blunt object to beat others into silence, however, I have seen cases of Islamophobia where commenters dismiss all Muslims as being the same, backing Hamas etc. I don’t expect this to be taken seriously or investigated because it never is so here we are with a very disproportionate conflict and disproportionate threads on forums like this where those raising their voices in outrage against what is happening in Gaza are often mobbed and made to feel as if they are being antisemitic or proHamas.
It was like that when I left these threads in late March and the same when I recently returned. Btw I wasn’t suspended it was something far more serious which makes me wonder why when there is enough misery occurring in the world we seek to manufacture it.

Exactly silverlining48, many Jews were very critical of Netanyahu's and the IDF's response from the start, and the number is increasing by the day. Saying that what is happening to the people of Gaza is inhumane, and illegal, has nothing to do with being Jewish or not.

I was reported a few months ago for saying that Jewish people and children in Israel and around the dispora in the world are being 'taught' to demonise Gazans, and see them as less as human, using all the imagery and words used in the past against them - reported and banned for a while. For saying the truth, which is very well proven and researched in order to shut the truth down. One could call this 'bullying' too- I didn't.

silverlining48 Wed 06-Aug-25 10:07:43

It’s irrelevant whether or not anyone is a Jew. I don’t recall anyone being ‘bullied’ because they were Jewish. Disagreeing yes, bullying, no.
This is all about the Israeli government’s cruel and illegal behaviour towards Gaza and its inhabitants.

May and do.

Oreo Tue 05-Aug-25 18:00:25

Recollections may vary.

Smileless2012 Tue 05-Aug-25 17:59:00

That's my recollection too growstuff.

growstuff Tue 05-Aug-25 17:58:07

AGAA4 It's difficult to see any other reason.

Ex-domestic intelligence agency chief Ami Ayalon, told the BBC that further military action would be futile.

"From the military point of view, [Hamas] is totally destroyed. On the other hand, as an ideology it is getting more and more power among the Palestinian people, within the Arab street around us, and also in the world of Islam.

"So the only way to defeat Hamas's ideology is to present a better future."

AGAA4 Tue 05-Aug-25 17:26:19

Leaders of the IDF have said that there is nothing more to do in Gaza as Hamas are no longer a force.
Israel occupies 75% of Gaza now.
The conclusion is that Netanyahu just wants to continue this war.

growstuff Tue 05-Aug-25 17:24:26

Yes, she did speak of it Anniebach. People disagreed with some of her views. I dispute that she was bullied.

Atrocities are being committed on a daily basis by the Israeli government.

There have been numerous 'suggestions' that some posters are antisemitic including accusations that a poster was driven away from GN because she's Jewish as well as posts 'suggesting' that some are Hamas supporters.

Not true, I spoke of a poster from Israel being bullied off the thread, Philippa was treated unfairly, there was no mention of
her being a Jew, she never spoke of it, was it assumed?

Smileless2012 Tue 05-Aug-25 16:43:31

Don't they have to live somewhere, have to have somewhere to go before the reoccupation can take place?

Whitewavemark2 Tue 05-Aug-25 16:05:49

They will be refugees - to join the other 2.5 million refugees living in poverty and stateless-ness

AGAA4 Tue 05-Aug-25 15:06:41

That's what is worrying Smileless.
He wants the land for Israelis and for the Gazans to go somewhere else. Where to? Why should they leave their own land?

Smileless2012 Tue 05-Aug-25 14:42:13

What does he propose to do with the Palestinians?

AGAA4 Tue 05-Aug-25 14:41:13

Netanyahu to propose full reoccupation of Gaza according to Israeli media.

Smileless2012 Mon 04-Aug-25 20:36:45

Yes that's unbelievable isn't it WWM you'd think there'd be enough hostilities without trying to provoke more.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 04-Aug-25 20:33:20

I see Gvir is living up to his reputation, by praying at Temple Mount.

Total provocation. What a menace the man is.

Smileless2012 Mon 04-Aug-25 20:29:58

My post wasn't to you Oreo your name doesn't even appear in it.

If only the accusations against Netanyahu and his government were sheer fantasy Annie sad.

Claremont Mon 04-Aug-25 20:28:34

Blahblah blah is not really 'interaction' is it?

Oreo Mon 04-Aug-25 20:23:09

Am sure you won’t mind if I don’t engage with you Claremont as I think it’s for the best.

Claremont Mon 04-Aug-25 20:19:57

Oreo

If posters are so sure of their own arguments then why feel the need to be childish to those who have different views?

childish, oh dear ''Oreo your post at 15.30 says it all.The blah blah bit.''

I really really don’t like Trump but I think he was just running his mouth off when he was describing how Gaza could be a real destination place in the future. He has been very quiet about that ever since.

I don’t listen to him or read of him, I don’t believe anyone would truly think of Gaza as destination place, but it makes
a change from Netanyahu accusations which are sheer fantasy
to me
