Much as I dislike Trump I believe he might have enough influence to achieve this.

Smileless2012 Mon 04-Aug-25 18:11:03

I'm sure they will AGAA and numbers world wide do appear to be increasing.

It's been said time and time again that criticism of the government of Israel is not antisemitic silverlining and it's a shame that it has to be repeated again and again.

silverlining48 Mon 04-Aug-25 17:12:59

Oreo if you really believe that people who speak out against what the Israeli government is doing are anti semetic then I am sorry, but just a bit surprised too.

It’s often been said on the many threads on the subject that any criticism is purely against the government of Netanyahu and his terrible team and not against the Jewish population wherever they live.

I genuinely do not believe anyone on here is antisemetic. I am not and have seen nothing on here to tell me otherwise. I have no connection with either side so am impartial, but have actively followed what has gone on in Palestine over many decades. It’s a tragedy. I always support those who are oppressed whoever they are, and Palestinians clearly have been and still are, but if it were the other way round, I am certain I would just as passionately support Israel.

As for rational thinking… I think I am fine thanks.

I hope those who care about the situation in Gaza and the plight of the people of Gaza and Israeli hostages will continue to speak out Smileless.

Smileless2012 Mon 04-Aug-25 16:30:01

It's the usual excuse to stop people speaking about the situation in Gaza I agree AGAA.

It is true Annie. Just because it isn't working doesn't mean that isn't the reason why its happening.

AGAA4 Mon 04-Aug-25 16:19:10

Oreo

You didn’t say you were Jewish before now AGAA4 why was that?

I have explained before and have no intention of going through it again on here. Just know that I have a loathing for antisemitism or any other bias that causes people misery.
That's how I feel. Please accept it.

So what you are saying Oreo is that because some of us don't like what Netanyahu is doing we are antisemitic?
It's the usual excuse to stop people speaking out about the situation in Gaza.

Not true, if true why is there so much being spoken of in Press,
SM, ON Protest marches ?

Not for the want of trying though. Antisemitism has reared it's ugly head on a number of the Gaza threads by a few who tried to close the discussion down.
I have suffered antisemitism myself and bringing it up reminds me of a very distressing time.

Oreo Mon 04-Aug-25 15:57:53

Well there you are then.

AGAA4 Mon 04-Aug-25 15:56:19

No! Thank goodness!

Oreo Mon 04-Aug-25 15:55:09

It hasn’t stopped anyone speaking out about Gaza has it?

Oreo Mon 04-Aug-25 15:53:40

I have no idea as to who is antisemitic or not.

America, probably Trump alone, could definitely stop the war.

How?

In their viewpoint there are still reasons for allowing Israel to continue.

Whose viewpoint?

And is Hamas not handing over all the Israeli hostages when they had a chance (ceasefire) to do so a good reason or not?

Oreo Mon 04-Aug-25 15:35:59

AGAA4

A poll suggested that 83% of Israelis want an end to the war.

Israelis do want an end to the war because they don’t want their sons and daughters injured or killed in service and they want their citizens who were taken hostage back.
That’s natural.

Why do so many people hate anyone Jewish? Had this when I started work after school & 65 years on it is still the same!

It’s no good asking that , all you get are ‘Oh it’s just the Israeli government’ blah blah.
Nobody will ever admit they don’t like Jews will they? In spite of antisemitism being rife. The very left wing of the Labour Party is a hotbed of it.At least Starmer did his best to push them underground when he became Leader.

Thank you, a suggestion isn’t a fact , my reply post certainly wasn’t a fact . We all want an end to the war surely

Many Israelis want this war to end and the hostages brought home.
Netanyahu and his top team aren't listening.

Many Israelis do not want this war to end and hostages brought home

Which is true ?

A tad ironic there annie 😄

Anniebach Mon 04-Aug-25 14:56:53

And if you actually think about it, the fact that people do not seem to understand the difference - this has caused the current rise in anti-semitism.

I also think that Jews must also understand that criticising the Israeli government is not anti-semitism either, they may then feel more comfortable with people disagreeing with a foreign power, which is Israel.

No *Whitewave” , I am sure Jews have better and more understanding of antisemitism than you , they have no need to understand, they live their life with it

I think you are muddling anti-semitism, with disagreeing with the actions of the Israeli state.

They are two quite distinct.

I'm not sure what respect Trump accords ex-officials - he has a few of them of his own, & they all went from being "a very good man" to being "a bad man, very poor judgement, etc etc" the minute they left. (or were pushed).

Whitewavemark2 Mon 04-Aug-25 14:35:05

Mind you that isn’t to say the anti-semitism does not exist.

Most minorities experience racism - Jews, Muslims, blacks, immigrants etc.

It seems to ebb and flow over time. Until there is a massive level of education and the ability to stop it in its tracks, it will continue unfortunately.
