Vile and condescending comment- quite obviously, despite the non attempt to hide - very personal about some of us here, useful idiots. Why should anyone be hit with a fine for holding a placard telling the truth.

Because the group are proscribed, obvious innit? A group who do violent things and ruin military planes.
By all means protest but don’t hold up placards supporting them.

I'd be proud to be one of them- much better than being.... (best not said). Thinking about Pauline Quirk here.

Yvette Cooper says the group have a long history of violent protests.
Groups are not proscribed for nothing.
There’s nothing stopping anyone peacefully protesting about Gaza it’s gone on for almost two years.
There’ll be well meaning older people ( sometimes known as useful idiots) carrying placards and glueing themselves to the tarmac. Don’t send them to prison, hit them each with a fine of £1,000.

Thank you for that.

Must be just me.
I think peaceful protests whould be allowed in the Uk about anything. I think.

Anything? 😁I think not.

‘Action’ tends not to be ‘peaceful’.

There probably has been a thread about this subject before on GN.
I would be interested to read through it, if that is indeed the case.

Palestine Action has been proscribed under Section 3 of the Terrorism Act 2000. This makes it a criminal offence to be a member of this group or to invite or recklessly express support for them. The legislation came into force at 0001hrs on Saturday 5 July 2025.Decision confirmed by Yvette Cooper.
It was put to the vote in Parliament and the vote was carried 385 for, 26 against.

Palestine Action demonstrators may never be able to visit the US or work in education if they take part in this weekend's protest, the Met Police have warned.

I certainly do not know everything there is to know about this subject.
And I certainly would not be joining in.

But this all feels very wrong to me.
Big consequences for protesting.
