Just a point - it is difficult at present to actually know whether you should or should not uphold the proscription as no body knows why they have been proscribed.

âPalestine Actionâ marchers - arrests today.
(328 Posts)Not before time. A âproscribedâ organisation. These agitators knew that yet still marched. 200 arrests. Good. If football supporters can be sprayed with marker paint stuff then why aren't these terrorist supporters? Make it red. They'll enjoy the irony. Then jail them.
Free the hostages. đźđ±

I SO agree, FGT.
There was an interesting article in the paper yesterday about the disinformation Hamas is spreading, swallowed whole by the general population. Goebels would beproud!
Which newspaper printed this article please as I would like to read it. Thank you.
The speech of women has been under threat for over a decade, anyone worrying about that now has missed the boat by years.
There are organisations that protect free speech I am sure they would welcome new members, they however protect pretty much all speech and funds would go towards that.

You havenât read the given info on âPalestine Actionâ, they have been active for several years
Palestine Action have used protest, occupation of premises, destruction of property, and vandalism, which sometimes resulted in its members being arrested. Palestine Action describes its actions as "non-violent yet disruptive", saying it has never hurt a human being.
That could describe many protest groups.
Greenpeace
Just Stop Oil
CND
Animal Activists
Amongst many others.
Perhaps because Palestine Action have been attacking Jewish businesses and homes that they are considered racist/antisemitic.
As we don't know fully why our security services think them a threat and won't be told I will just trust the government on this.

đđđ I agree
It's difficult to draw a line between legitimate protest and support for terrorism. I don't believe Yvette Cooper took the decision to proscribe PA lightly. The arrests by police are perfectly right.
I would be scared about my personal safety if I were to speak my mind where police are around. I can hardly believe that Britain is now a country where freedom of speech is against the law.
Yes the police are put in an impossible position with regard to policing protests, speech, etc.

My husband was killed protecting the personal safety of the public

How do you compare the above bad behaviour with bad behaviour that with malice aforethought kills a journalist(Guardian today), starves innocent civilians, bombs hospitals and kills medics, and threatens to deport an entire population to a concentration camp?
Anniebach, How would you feel if England bombed and starved Wales and publicised its intention to rule over Wales?
Interesting mix of people have been arrested. A Poet and a colonel amongst them.

Wales has never launched an attack on England , even when
England ordered schools to beat children who spoke Welsh,
never flooded parts of England to provide themselves with water, never put babies in ovens, never gang raped girls at a
music festival, never voted for a terrorists government,
8 so remember being at Moorfields Eye Hospital on St.Davids Day wearing my daffodil, I heard clearly from a group
âthey have no rights to our hospitals â
England can certainly outdo anything Israel is accused of doing

Foolish?!
Yvette Cooper says this group have a history of violent action and future plans and security services have advised that they be proscribed.Who funds them, Iran?
There are plenty of pro Palestine marches and protests to join without supporting this group.
Anyone of any age will be arrested so stay away.
There is no question that Palestine Action is a violent group , it's clear that those who imagine it's a peaceful protest group are ompletely ignorant of PA's history and agenda. THIS is PA:
www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/disturbing-sledgehammer-attack-police-during-9463071
"A Bristol defence firm was ram-raided by sledgehammer-wielding activists during the early hours of this morning, Tuesday, August 6. Video supplied by pressure group Palestine Action shows a van smashing through the fence of Elbit Systems UK's Horizon facility, off Bolingbroke Way, Patchway, shortly before 4am.
Avon and Somerset Police said over a dozen people exited the vehicle and began attacking the building. It is alleged some employees of the business tried to intervene but were assaulted with weapons with one suffering a head injury.
According to police, two officers were attacked with a sledgehammer during the incident. One of the officers was taken to hospital with injuries to her back while the other officer was treated at the scene by paramedics after being struck on the back of his legs. Officers seized sledgehammers, axes, whips and other homemade weapons that were left at the scene."
PA's offcial statement admitted responsibility.

I would need details of this - ie which are the businesses attacked/when/damage details?. Otherwise why would I believe these attacks happened?
We, the people, make our decisions - the government represents what we have decided or would decide if we had full information.
After all - it's very well within living memory how they proved they don't represent us and we can't trust them.....2020...2020....

Here's the definition of terrorism in UK law, according to the Terrorism Act 2000

Security services should make all available to the public?
GrannyGravy13
It is still legal to protest against the actions of Israel in Gaza, just donât go to an organised rally in the name of Palestine Action Group or hold up banners with Palestine Action Group on them.
It really is that simple.
Well youâd think so wouldnât you? But not according to some on here.Could this possibly be that because they themselves are pro Palestinian they consider any violent group which is against Israel is worth support ?
If not, and they say itâs all about free speech then would they themselves have sat around en masse holding placards which announced they supported the IRA or Hezbollah or supported those who did ?
Thereâs no excuse for it, none at all.

With free speech comes responsibility and in any case free speech doesnât mean you can shout anything or wave a placard saying anything at all, surely you know this?
