"Villagers verbally abuse Scouts they mistook for migrants" (Daily Telegraph)

The subheading is "Newbridge residents confuse 30 Scottish teenagers on summer trip for asylum seekers"

The brainwashing by the far-right seems to work best on those of little brain. Of course we are all entitled to our views even when they are factually incorrect but the words for people who do this fail me.

First we find these extremists cannot tell the difference between a "small boat" full of asylum seekers and a four person rowing boat, now this!

This is the hysteria that has been deliberately built up so that these people have a completely exaggerated idea of the number of asylum seekers in this country.

But please, continue with the extremist bias if it's your thing. Eventually even the densest brain will realise they are not being told truths but are part of the foot-soldiers, who are disposable to those they see as leaders.

As you say it’s all about building up hysteria.-

against a Welsh town apparently
🤔🙄

Gosh could it be a bias😬

So you have no facts to back your recent post saying:

"They weren’t scouts"
"It wasn’t a village"
"The abuse was online"

There was also online abuse, and I will happily come back and say if there weren't scouts being abused by local people who mistook them for immigrants but, yet against, you have no evidence of that.

Thank you Lathyrus

Lathyrus3 Wed 13-Aug-25 16:21:15

And

Villagers verbally abuse Scouts is the other

Take your pick🤣

Temporary Chief Superintendent Jason White said:

"The group featured in the video were visiting from another part of the country to attend a frequently used Scout camp in Newbridge and many of the people in the video are children.

"The site is not used to house anyone on a permanent basis. The site is used by our dog handlers to train our police dogs when not used for visits and our officers are not guarding the location."

This is from Sky news and appears to have been fact-checked. I can't imagine why he would have said this if an incident had not taken place.

Here’s one

Lathyrus3 Wed 13-Aug-25 16:19:15

Umm you reported two different things

Which one are you selecting?

Um I’ll say it against

They weren’t scouts
It wasn’t a village
The abuse was online

You really can’t see how that is different from

“Villagers verbally abuse Scouts”

And the winner of densest brain is………

So I will say again... where does your information come from? Sky are still broadcasting what I reported.

I hope this thread fades into the obscurity it deserves.
Patronising and insulting are words that spring to mind...

So you are now joining the attacks on targeted minorities, MaizieD. When did that happen? It's certainly very unexpected.

The police Chief was referring to a video of the incident. I can't see how that opposes the headlines, Lathyrus3.

So a person took a video and spread misinformation.

At least you condemned villagers (although it's not a village) and not The Welsh as a whole on the other thread!

Would you like to link where I "condemned" the Welsh Allira?

PoliticsNerd Wed 13-Aug-25 15:43:21

Who said it was misinformation? You seem very keen to push this point without references to stand up your argument Allira. Nothing new there though I suppose.

But politicsnerd, why are you believing the erroneous headline you have read in the Daily Telegraph?

Are you being wound up?

😁

The Daily Telegraph? That bastion of right-wing extremists?

It is simply Politics Nerd trying to be clever, or funny, and failing on both counts.

Galaxy Wed 13-Aug-25 14:45:11

And if the democratic process which you admire chooses Trump or Reform what then?

really got

= right

Lathyrus3 Wed 13-Aug-25 14:25:17

I expect that’s really got as opposing your the headline of your post

‘Not Scouts, Not villagers . And apparently online abuse not verbal.

What were you saying about people with ‘dense brains” being wound up about what they read?

This to PN ….I think we all know the numbers of asylum seekers as it’s broadcast just about every day so nobody has an exaggerated idea of the number.
Then you say to posters ‘but please, continue with the extremist bias if that’s your thing’. That’s nice!

But we don't. So many misleading and untrue statistics are out there so you believe what you want to believe.

I can't stop people having an extremist bias in any direction, nor would I want to. I want to live in a liberal democracy that emphasises democratic elections, an independent judiciary, and has a system of checks and balances between our branches of government.

I do not want to move towards a dictatorship. This is what the far-right in America is moving their country towards and using targeted minorities as a scapegoat group. They are setting them up as the 'undesirables', 'the enemy within', just as the Nazi's did to the Jews and just as has been tried before in our own country.

These groups are not the root of all our problem they are a small part but not necessarily of their own making. Often our problems come from decisions we have chosen to make ourselves.

Extremism certainly isn't nice.

The reaction of the people seeing young campers - who hadn't just moved onto a verge somewhere but would have made preparation and booked the field - was simply hysterics. And why did the feel that way. Because the extremist far-right have been winding people up in the attempt to create another summer of riots.

Here you are - another judgemental thread condemning all the people of Wales!
Enjoy.

And for those who don't understand the difference, Newbridge is a town.

As there's already a thread no need for this one, it's insulting to the people of Newbridge as they are bring damned by a few who posted on social media.

But, as another Welsh Gransnetter said, we're all twp in Wales.
