I think you’re right NotSpaghetti, the experts were dismissed in favour of yes men.

I don't believe Trump has any sort of knowledgeable backstage team.

And no. He won't help Zelenskyy I think.
Sadly.

"With all the hatred of Donald Trump going on here (which up to a point I can understand) it’s important to remember who the enemy is here."

No problem in remembering who the enemy is but Trump is no friend to Zelensky or Ukraine either. This is why it is so concerning, Trump could impose further sanctions on Russia which would weaken their war effort, but he doesn't. Trump could link the supply of arms and continuing support of Israel to a peace deal but he doesn't. That doesn't make him the enemy of the UK and the rest of the civilised world but it certainly doesn't make him an ally either.

Trump is full of words but whether he will achieve anything I don’t know.

He could walk away and blame Zelensky.

I have no idea whether he will be able to broker a fair deal but I keep remembering that he is just the front man.
There are hundreds of diplomats working away to hammer something reasonable out.
So my fingers are firmly crossed, and I just hope the front men don’t mess it up.

With all the hatred of Donald Trump going on here (which up to a point I can understand) it’s important to remember who the enemy is here.

Surely it’s clear that Trump is the only one with the remotest chance of brokering a deal, along with threats of sanctions etc.
He’s Zelenskyy’s only hope.

Nope. Trump cannot be trusted about anything.

And I suspect he wants to butter up his Puppet Master, Putin. The two of them will carve up Ukraine and it's resources and the Ukrainians will be well and truly shafted.

Putin believes that Ukraine should be part of Russia, he thinks the same of the other countries that used to be part of the USSR so if he succeeds to gain Ukraine, he'll have other countries in his sights.

British security bod on R4 - says Putin is not about territory and all about sovereignty - actually if you think about it , that has always been in Putins rhetoric. He doesn’t recognise Ukraine as a sovereign territory, we’ve heard it time and again.
He is intent on Ukraine’s subjugation.

Everything about Trump is fishy, he's always motivated by self interest and assumes others are the same. He'll try to sell "deals"to Putin but the only deal that will interest Putin is one that gives him more territory in Ukraine and the chance in the future to have the lot, nothing else will be of interest.

Everything about Trump is fishy. He wants a Nobel prize and doesn’t care who or what he sacrifices to get it.

So assuming that the Ukrainian deal to sell Trump? America? minerals went ahead during the earlier part of this year? There has been mentioned that Trump might in turn sell it to Putin.

Can you imagine the massive amount of money he will get!

Also does that mean the minerals will go, alongside Ukrainian land? And what can Ukraine do to stop it if Trump owns it?

Sounds an all put up job to me.

I’m convinced Putin has the Epstein dirt on Trump, which would bring him down.

There is also something about the time Trump has spent in Russia, his business deals and the fact that the only banks that would lend him money at one time were Russian.

All smells pretty fishy.

Bridie22 Thu 14-Aug-25 06:37:35

Trump will only support what's good for Trump, he will use anyone or thing to keep the distraction going from the Epstein files.

The two of them are going to try to stitch up Zelenskyy.
Is the EU strong enough to back Zelenskyy, I have my doubts.
One saving grace is that Merkel isn’t in charge anymore.
If Putin said jump, Merkel would say how high.
Never been a fan of Macron but I have more faith in him than anyone else at the meeting.

I agree WWM one only has to remember that awful incident at the White House to see who he really supports. He can't broker peace and will of course blame Zelensky. He's already blamed him for the war happening at all!!!

Whitewavemark2 Wed 13-Aug-25 20:37:23

TBH I think Trump supports Putin.
