Well my views would be that no one should be imprisoned for words except in very few cases and his wasn't one of them, I say this whilst also thinking he is a vile man. It has however given a good example of the strategy people should use when charged with 'hate speech' and I am sure people will pay attention to that in the future.

Casdon Sun 17-Aug-25 21:08:30

I’m not sure your views are representative of the views of the public at large though Galaxy?

Galaxy Sun 17-Aug-25 20:55:55

Anarchy will happen if people lose faith in organisations, but that has already happened. For me it is like watching a car crash, shouting that the car is going to crash and everyone saying oh its fine.

Iam64 Sun 17-Aug-25 20:53:12

Well put Casdon
I’ve been involved in trials where a guilty finding was expected but not guilty found
It’s not uncommon

This idea of two teir justice is so Trumpian

Casdon Sun 17-Aug-25 20:26:54

I know GrannyGravy13, I just think that if we don’t trust the law, even when we disagree with them, we might as well pack our bags.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 17-Aug-25 20:23:31

Casdon I have no idea why he wasn’t found guilty, but I imagine it was a legal technicality, as his words are still out there.

Anniebach Sun 17-Aug-25 20:22:20

The jury were forced to reach their verdict or were they all
members of Labour Party and all Labour supporters would
never find anyone of Asian descent guilty of anything ?
Please confirm

Casdon Sun 17-Aug-25 20:16:26

How can anybody make such serious accusations about the British judicial system when they know sweet fa about the detail of the individual case? Anarchy will rule this country soon if people have such little respect for the law. Judges and juries make many decisions I don’t agree with, but that does not mean I think they are corrupt or politically biased.

Spinnaker Sun 17-Aug-25 19:59:55

He was never going to be imprisoned. It's a complete farce of a justice system. As GG13 says, he's a Labour councillor of Asian descent and not a blonde conservative woman. Speaks volumes doesn't it ?

GrannyGravy13 Sun 17-Aug-25 19:52:50

No you didn’t imagine it Magenta8

Magenta8 Sun 17-Aug-25 19:47:49

Did I imagine it or did Jo Brand really say that she wished somebody had thrown battery acid over Nigel Farage and got away with it.

The blonde woman who threw the milkshake got a suspended jail sentence, a fine, costs and 120 hours unpaid work.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 17-Aug-25 19:23:50

I would have thought being videoed shouting cut their throats which has been all over social media for the last twelve months was inciting violence.

But hey ho, he’s a Labour councillor of Asian descent, not a blonde conservative women…

Ilovecheese

The jury will know why.

Exactly! I was surprised, but I wasn't in the jury room (and I doubt if anybody was) and I don't know what his defence was.

Ilovecheese Sun 17-Aug-25 18:51:50

The jury will know why.

Mt61 Sun 17-Aug-25 18:49:40

Totally amazed he got off with that statement, tbh.

growstuff Sun 17-Aug-25 18:35:49

love0c

Why has he not been found guilty and now in prison?

No idea. Ask the jury.
