We sit by watching as children starve to death, their mothers’ cannot feed them and their fathers’ unable to provide them with food.

Every single calorie is controlled by one government.

Why are we allowing this situation to continue?

It is true Annie. The Israeli government will not let journalists into Gaza, pressure has been brought to bear several times with regard to this, but the government remain unmoved.

Babs, I know journalists not allowed into Gaza , I question why Hamas doesn’t release evidence of the starvation of many, they showed three which were not true , the few photographs show alleged harm caused by by Israel !

If Hamas release anything it will be slammed as being fake, but aid agencies have released pics which have been shown on the news.
You more than anyone would not take whatever Hamas releases, I personally wouldn’t take anything either side releases as the actual truth. That’s is why we need journalists from all news outlets ready to send a crew, people can then select which journalist they trust the most to deliver the truth of the matter.

Tragically it seems the only person who could make this stop is Trump. If only he would. He might even pick up that Nobel prize he’s after.

No the quickest way is for the leader of Hamas to surrender.

Refusing to release the hostages doesn’t seem to be helping Gaza but it’s helping Hamas , who it now seems are victims trying to save Palestine

You have seen two small children and a woman ‘ allegedly starving’. A group of small Children begging with bowls.? You describe a fence and make your harsh judgement and denial of truth based on photos of less than 10 women and children. There are 2.3 million people in Gaza? Minus the tens of thousands already dead. As well as the tens of thousands injured by war but without adequate medical care. The most amputations in children that doctors from abroad have ever seen which has been reported over and over by British medics.
If Israel were not worried about what the world would see, they would have allowed international journalists in to report. But they won’t do that, because of what they are doing there . The world still sees, and hears. Israel has now and forever lost the higher ground that it has always had in the past.
There was a British nurse who spoke from Gaza on the r4 Today programme this morning. Do you discount her report and all the other British medics over the last many months who have reported from there, as lies?

Israel is currently at war. Journalists are part of the propaganda machine used by Israel’s enemies. Al Jazeera for example.

A fact that gets brushed under the carpet.

ronib Sat 23-Aug-25 11:25:32

What are those 28 countries thinking? The arrogance is breathtaking. Butt out buddies. Israel’s problem and Israel’s solutions. The USA is the only country showing any true leadership in this war.

So let other journalists into Gaza and get a more unbiased account of what is actually going on. Name your poison when it comes reading the news Ronib and you can bet a journalist would be willing to report for that particular news outlet.
Embeds are used in wars, from the American civil war onwards, journalism has played a part. As with the Pilger reports from Vietnam.

Propaganda is the only weapon that Hamas has and AlJazzera has helped as has the UN and all the other aid agencies.
The more images of women and children suffering the better for Hamas thats their only weapon why would they stop.

David Hamas is a terrorist organisation, it doesn't play by the rules but that doesn't give Israel's soldiers or government a licence to starve people. If they do they are no better than Hamas!

Hamas is the de facto government in Gaza it is often referred to as that in news reports.
Are you saying they have no responsibility for what is happening

For what it’s worth I think Israel is odious but that doesn’t exonerate Hamas for the way to has run Gaza.

As I pointed out earlier in this thread, Israeli history is littered with conflicts with their neighbours, Oreo.
Murderous hatred to their neighbours is not exclusively a Gazan matter. There are current quotes from Israelis which make their expansionist agenda very clear.
The only innocent parties in this are the hostages and the starving.

Where are videos from Hamas showing the victims of the alleged starvation, we saw the horrors of Ethiopia
There were journalists in Ethiopia.

Yes I know, so who is restricting what the world can see and who is releasing some videos , such as the release of hostages and coffins earlier this year, i have seen two small children and a woman allegedly starved but were suffering severe physical illnesses .i have a group of small children holding metal bowls through a fence , fencing too narrow to retrieve the bowls with food
Israel is not allowing journalists in, so Israel is restricting what the world can see obviously.
If you fear Hamas is using propaganda videos wouldn’t you prefer journalists to report what is actually happening??

Israel is restricting all photographs and videos from Gaza ?
I do not believe this to be true

Remodelled.

Quite disgraceful - and re- writing history I see.

We’ve already de-bunked the idea that the Palestinians are being used as shields

The usual denial.

Hamas would be very pleased by your comments, and you and a few others here haven’t ‘debunked’ anything at all.
Hamas members deliberately based themselves in schools and hospitals and anywhere where they felt safe amongst the population.I think it’s you that’s in denial.

Babs03 Sat 23-Aug-25 11:02:06

The reason why journalists are so important in a theatre of war is so that the world can actually see what is going on and if people fear journalistic bias with some agencies there will always be other journalists they find more balanced. The only reason why journalists would be banned from reporting would be because those banning them don’t want the world to see what is actually going on.
To say is for the journalists safety is totally unacceptable, there have been ‘embeds’ in every war so far, none have been safe places to be and yes some got killed or injured, but is their choice as professionals whether they want to take that risk or not.

Well you had better unbunk that again, because I see Hamas refusing to surrender as hiding behind several million civilians as a human shield.

They could come out and fight the IDF if they believe they are going to die why take thousands of civilians with you.l
