Man made famine - the world should be ashamed

We sit by watching as children starve to death, their mothers’ cannot feed them and their fathers’ unable to provide them with food.

Every single calorie is controlled by one government.

Why are we allowing this situation to continue?

Would you care to expand your argument wwm2 ?

Remodelled.

Quite disgraceful - and re- writing history I see.

We’ve already de-bunked the idea that the Palestinians are being used as shields

The usual denial.

The history of the world is one big remodelled landmass ??

Of course it is.
Gaza needs to be remodelled, Gaza had its chance to show the world it could live in an area next to Jews and it blew it by its murderous hatred towards them! The huge amounts of money that was given to Gaza by many countries and aid agencies was also blown on weapons. No longer safe for Israel to contemplate a two State solution, that’s gone, well done hamas for that and for using their own people as shields.

Anniebach Sat 23-Aug-25 10:39:33

Even both terrorists , I can’t compare Hamas and the IRA,

Hamas is funded by Iran and Qatar. Are you sure that Hamas will be a footnote in history? wwm2. Iran and Qatar have their own agenda?
Gaza is being remodelled to stop the two state model. Israel is trying very hard to protect its own people from now on and into the future. What else can it do?

It can stop committing genocide, get round the negotiating table and agree a ceasefire that will ensure the return of the hostages and the safe delivery of aid. Hamas agreed to a ceasefire on Monday. The Israeli government haven’t agreed to anything.
If Netanyahu really cares about the hostages he would negotiate.
Hamas cannot return the hostages until a ceasefire is agreed, which is common sense, because otherwise both Hamas and the hostages could be shot or bombed by Israeli forces.
This isn’t rocket science. There are examples where this kind of negotiation is successful, indeed the UK has experience of this with the GFA.

Of course just as Hezbollah is a busted flush.

Gaza remodelled - blimey I’ve never heard that euphemism before.

A US government report has found no evidence of Hamas involvement in stopping aid into Gaza.
Why would they when Hamas will have families living there. Would they deprive their own children aid.

The UK and others are calling for journalists to be allowed into Gaza. Israel should not be allowed to hide the devastation they have allowed to happen.

Would Hamas deprive their own children aid ?
I think yes they would
I don’t care what Hamas would or wouldn’t do all we can do is speculate.
What I care about are the thousands now at risk of dying of starvation, with the majority of intelligent people/aid agencies/western governments etc., in agreement that Israeli forces are deliberately obstructing aid.
You can hold out with the minority if you want Annie but you will be on the wrong side of history.
Those outraged by the Israeli government are not letting Hamas off the hook, nobody is supporting them, but neither will they support what the IDF are doing. And btw an increasing number of Israelis feel the same.

I do not hold with a minority or majority.

If Hamas have families living in Gaza surely they would release the hostages given there could be starvation, I doubt they would if there is food available for their families, their army the country they govern?

AGAA4 Sat 23-Aug-25 10:25:28

Do you really think that Netanyahu will stop his plan to rid Gaza of all Palestinians even if the hostages are returned.
What is left of Hamas in Gaza city know they will be killed. The families of the hostages are afraid that as a final act Hamas will kill those hostages still alive.

So why don’t Hamas surrender, return the hostages and allow everyone to be fed properly

If you were sat in Gaza and was watching how Israel is treating the people in the West Bank and killing and starving innocent civilians in Gaza, would you actually believe that Israel would suddenly come all over philanthropic if you as an insurrectionist surrendered😄.

Nobody is denying that famine exists in Gaza or Sudan its caused by war.

What I and other object to is the blame Israel mentality, and Hamas bears no responsibility despite holding hostages and using the whole population as human shields.

I look forward to Hamas being blamed for the war as much as Israel, but I don’t expect the closed minds to change.

Hamas will be a footnote in history. They no longer have any power.

It is Israel in whose hands the Palestinians lives rest.

A big minority in Israel and a huge majority around the world recognise this.

Nobody is condoning what Hamas did. This attack should never have been allowed to happen. Israel has one of the best intelligence services in the world and they had no idea that Hamas were ready to attack?
The response by Israel to calls for help were extremely slow. Their defence system was woefully inadequate.
Israel should have protected their own people better.
As for closed minds some are blind to suffering and have no compassion.

I sometimes wonder if anyone sees how patronising and infantilising their posts towards African and SE Asian people are? White supremacy, even when capitalising white accountability, is so all inclusive and dismissive. Self flagellation is something I must investigate.

That’s why I said earlier that hair shirts and whips were loved by some.
Emotional posts and inaccuracies go with them hand in hand.
Why do it? My own view is that they can’t control the things around them so look for far off things to emote about.

Quite extraordinary!

No longer able to refute what is in front of your eyes, you now turn on the messengers by accusing them of self flagellation.

What about the message?

Or perhaps you are as usual in denial!

WWM I think it really wouldn’t matter if those who deny this genocide were actually inside Gaza watching it unfold, their minds are closed to any ill doing against the long suffering Palestinians, though thankfully they are becoming the minority as the majority become increasing revolted by the actions of the Israeli government and Israel becomes isolated from the rest of the world.
History will judge those who were cheer leaders for this atrocity accordingly.

How famine came to Gaza

Israel has long placed restrictions on goods entering Gaza, and those restrictions increased after the beginning of the war on 7 October 2023

However, since March 2025, the situation has deteriorated rapidly after Israel introduced a nearly three-month total blockade on goods entering Gaza.

Under significant international pressure, Israel began allowing a limited amount of goods back into Gaza in late-May.

It also introduced a new system of food distribution operated by a controversial American group called the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) to replace the previous UN-led system of food distribution.

The GHF has four food distribution sites in militarised zones that Palestinians must walk long distances at risk to reach, replacing the 400 distribution points in the community under the UN's system.

Finding food has become a deadly endeavour for Palestinians and they have regularly told us that they have to choose between starvation and death, referring to the near-daily shootings of people trying to get aid at GHF distribution sites.

The United Nations has recorded the killing of at least 994 Palestinians in the vicinity of GHF sites, since late May, some of the 1,760 killed trying to access aid.

The UN says the majority killed were shot by Israeli troops, something corroborated by eye-witnesses we have spoken to and medics in Gaza. Israel has repeatedly rejected the allegations.

Under this system, overseen by Israel, starvation in Gaza has expanded.

Israel's accusation that Hamas is responsible for the hunger crisis has also been criticised. Multiple reports, including an internal US government report, found there is no evidence of systematic diversion of aid by Hamas.

There is indeed widespread looting of trucks entering Gaza – but aid agencies say most of the looting is by crowds of desperate Palestinians and some organised groups trying to make a resale profit.

Ultimately, aid agencies have been repeating for months that in order to avert starvation and famine, Gaza needs to be flooded with aid entering by road and currently Israel still imposes restrictions.
