Nothing more to say now as AR has gone. I wonder who the next victim will be.

Angela Rayner - 3 homes now
(878 Posts)www.heraldscotland.com/news/25413474.angela-rayner-occupies-three-homes-buys-seaside-flat/
Since I can’t see a thread about the Deputy PM and Housing Minister, Angela Rayner I am starting one. 😉
All the main newspapers are headlining this story but most have a paywall and this one doesn’t.
There’s no doubt she has come far from her humble beginnings but this demonstrates to me that she is very out of touch with people.

Nigel isn’t the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Housing etc. And boy isn’t he going to capitalise on this fiasco?
Nigel....the word makes me puke.
Yes , he will.
Ah, not kind. ☹
We have a couple of lovely friends called Nigel and one of my best friends at college was a Nigel.

^Sir Laurie Magnus considers that she cannot be considered to have met the highest standards of conduct and, as such, the ministerial code was breached^
Mm, interesting!
A thought occurs to me…
Did Nigel Farage ‘meet the highest standards of conduct’ this week when he talked down his own country in the USA; lied to the USA congress committee; and recommended that the USA implement financial sanctions on the UK … his own country???
Maybe The Telegraph would like to investigate that.
Farage is not a Minister, moreover he is not a member of the Government either.
He does need to meet certain standards as a Member of Parliament, of course.
Maybe we’re bored of talking about Angela Rayner Oreo, three similar threads are on the go, and there’s only so much to be said.
McFadden?
Nigel Farage? Oooh look there’s a squirrel 😂 this thread is about Angela Rayner.
She had to go, and now she’s gone.Hope Starmer chooses someone more professional and able next for the role.

People seem to be getting more angry at MPs in general.
Nothing new. Anna Soubry said she was always afraid that someone would push her under a train and always, on a platform stood with her back to a wall. Jess Phillips house is like Fort Knox with so many locks on the door. And let’s not forget Jo Cox
.

If Farage's behaviour was put under the spotlight of Nolan, he would fail on a regular basis.
Here's reminder of the Nolan Principles:
1.1 Selflessness
Holders of public office should act solely in terms of the public interest.
1.2 Integrity
Holders of public office must avoid placing themselves under any obligation to people or organisations that might try inappropriately to influence them in their work. They should not act or take decisions in order to gain financial or other material benefits for themselves, their family, or their friends. They must declare and resolve any interests and relationships.
1.3 Objectivity
Holders of public office must act and take decisions impartially, fairly and on merit, using the best evidence and without discrimination or bias.
1.4 Accountability
Holders of public office are accountable to the public for their decisions and actions and must submit themselves to the scrutiny necessary to ensure this.
1.5 Openness
Holders of public office should act and take decisions in an open and transparent manner. Information should not be withheld from the public unless there are clear and lawful reasons for so doing.
1.6 Honesty
Holders of public office should be truthful.
1.7 Leadership
Holders of public office should exhibit these principles in their own behaviour and treat others with respect. They should actively promote and robustly support the principles and challenge poor behaviour wherever it occurs.
Precisely!
But the right wing media (which is virtually all of it) certainly won’t be shining any spotlights on the behaviour of Mr Farage!
He appears to be able to act with total impunity🤷♀️
Isn’t there a process in the HoC by which an MP’s behaviour can be officially called into question and referred to the ethics advisor?
Farage is hardly going to refer himself is he?
Tell me more ???
Is the King, the group sex and Richi connected in any way please?
Sorry its proving to be a tiresome day.
I got you PoliticsGrey, if I was a party leader I would have mixed views about her joining me - it will be good fodder for her next book though!
AR makes much of her poor start in life and KS also always backs her up on this.
There are plenty in Politics who can say the same …. Just a few I can think of Jon Ashworth, Nadine Dorries, former Home Secretary Alan Johnson. There are doubtless more but they behave and act more professionally than her.
It was a joke because of her exposé of what went on in Tory circles as described in her last book. Excerpt from the blurb:
From group sex sessions organised via WhatsApp, to the King being stood up at the Privy Council and the real reason why Rishi Sunak left the D-Day celebrations early, the accounts are raw, unvarnished and brutal. Everything is worse than it seems.

I’m no fan of Labour, far from it, but I can’t help feeling slightly sorry for Angela Rayner as misplaced as my sentiments probably are. Anyone who can juggle her job, a disabled child, minimal qualifications, divorce and a poor start in life, all described on the bbc, deserves a slither of compassion. Just my opinion. Somehow, she’s crawled her way to the top despite all that she has had thrown at her in life. I don’t doubt she’s tough, nasty and anything else people say about her but she has achieved something very few do, especially women. I have a sneaking admiration for her although I’d never vote Labour.
With Politics you need to look squeaky clean as well as be it.
I do think some people in high office need a whole lot less sleep than most of us.
Give anyone another 5 hours awake time per day, and a lot can be achieved.
I am talking in general terms.
She could be a spy, of course
That is a big assumption and assertion!
Unless you know things that most people dont[I have begin to think there are more people with inside knowledge about the government on this forum, than I had assumed].

To PaynesGrey. 13.37pm post

It’s been rumoured that now Nadine seems to be over her grand passion for Boris, Nigel has had to hire an extra bodyguard to keep her at bay.
She could be a spy, of course. She’s not known for her discretion and is likely to put whatever she sees going on at conference into a book.
He is not a nice guy ronib.
I think there will be all sorts of truths about people from all parties coming out in the next weeks. Property dealings will get top billing, and I watched an interview about Kemi Badenoch’s academic claims being false on Times Radio yesterday. I have no doubt journalists are searching for the next big story as we speak. Interesting times.
I think it's sad that she's gone but her resignation letter also touches on her concern for her family in all of this. The media frenzy has put her safety and their safety at risk. The graffiti could just be a start. I think she'd be wise to take a back seat for a while, take stock, come back fighting from the backbenches and have more time for her constituents.

He may or may not have.
But that does not take away that AR didnt.
They are all supposed to.
Dorries was my MP

It’s Reform UK’s conference this weekend, with AR stepping down from her posts and Nadine Dories joining Reform I expect a lot of grandstanding and headlines over the next couple of days.
Off the topic, but the Nadine Dorries defection intrigues me, I admit. If ever there was a loose canon, but I really thought her loyalty to Boris Johnson was unquestionable.
Nadine Dorties was my MO at one point in my life. She didn’t live in the constituency and we never saw her. She did nothing for her constituents.
She also had some questionable property dealing involving more than one property.
Presumably she believes Reform is the best bet for Nadine Dorries.
Casdon Nigel the nice guy in the pub? Laziness on my part. I really hope that the opposition gets its act together by the time of the next election.
