Stop the BBC giving prominence to Reform

Reform only have 4 MP's, yet the BBC is giving the party massive exposure. I copied the below from Threads, because it makes the point well. I have just put in my own complaint (it's an easy process).

"Please take 5 mins online to complain formally to the BBC if you are fed up hearing from Reform (and only Reform). Please tick the box that says yes you do want a reply. They have to respond.
It’s important to complain on the record. A future FOI request would show the number of complaints. The charter is up for renewal. A timely FOI request could be a useful tool in defending balance in the future BBC. Please do this. And do it repeatedly whenever the bias is apparent."

What do you mean?

I thought the BBC was meant to be a woke left wing organisation. Is this evidence that it is actually being an even handed organisation.

Where on the BBC is all this Reform propaganda (i assume that is what you mean) BBC TV News is not often that often so I presume you mean R4. Does aanayone who votes Reform actually listen to R4, I would have thought their radio tastes would lie elsewhere.

Absolutely.

Got it!

Barbadosbelle Tue 02-Sept-25 15:37:43

So. Grantanow, you're happy to continue with the horrendous shower we have now or the same old same-old?

I've had enough of both the Tory and Labour hypocrites. Two-faced. Two-Tier and Too-much.

Like in others spheres of my life, if someone let's me down (plumber, electrician, gardener, butcher etc) then I'm willing to give the 'new guy on the block' a chance.

I won't just carry on with someone whose promises and performances haven't lived up to my expectations and their promises

Maremia Tue 02-Sept-25 15:36:56

I have made the assumption Allira, that all of the Posters who have studied Reform manifestos, as they claim, yet still support their aims, would have to be able to withstand the proposed removal of NHS provision, and so must be in a state of good health.

Allira Tue 02-Sept-25 15:31:54

I have a feeling when they mess up Local Government in the areas they have won, people will begin to see that they are one-trick ponies and incapable of running a booze-up in a brewery, let alone a Council or a country.

Allira Tue 02-Sept-25 15:30:19

Wonderful to be reading posts from so many GNs who are in the best of health, and don't rely on NHS funding for their daily meds. You know the wee pills that keep some of us ticking along.

Well, perhaps I'm missing something, Maremia, but I haven't seen lots of posts from so many GNs who are in the best of health and don't need any medication.

Perhaps posters don't want to talk about their problems or illnesses etc all the time confused

davannh Tue 02-Sept-25 15:28:50

Surely the BBC is only broadcasting the news of the day? How can you make a sensible decision on which party to support unless you are aware of what they are doing and proposing.

flump Tue 02-Sept-25 15:26:09

I really don't know why Reform admirers think Farage and Tice etc will be the ones to make the UK a better country.

Farage is a public school educated millionaire who lies and grifts his way through life and says anything to keep himself in the public eye and make more money. He's clever at adapting himself to the company he's in and make it seem as if he really cares about the "ordinary man in the street". He doesn't.

His continued visits to the USA indicates the path he wants to follow and we can all see the way Trump and his puppet masters have treated the American public.

Tice is also a millionaire who, like Farage pushed Brexit as did his partner, Oakshot. She now lives in Dubai. Very patriotic!

If it all goes wrong they can move elsewhere but the rest of us will be left to cope with what's left.

Do you really want to be in the same situation that the Americans find themselves in at the moment?

Yes, Teazle, Farage has a briliant idea for reducing the NHS list.
Reduce the NHS waiting list at a stroke, hopefully not ours, by, can you guess, doing away with the NHS, and bringing in that wonderful version from the good old US of A, where you pay the actual full price for everything.
Bring it on, you say.
Seriously?

Reform have really achieved what they set out to do haven't they. Got everyone fighting like rats in a sack . Distracted from the important issues because they've convinced everyone that the biggest problem the country faces are people on boats. Just as Farage used immigration to get the brexit vote. A tried and tested approach [worked for Trump too, didn't it...and yet the very people who can see Trump for what he is can't see that his mini me is exactly the same.].

SaxonGrace Tue 02-Sept-25 14:55:59

I’m happy to hear from Reform, and considering the amount of exposure climate change gets the BBC are happy enough to toe the Greens line

Romola Tue 02-Sept-25 14:46:59

Nigel Farage gets air time because his far-right announcements are attention-grabbing. As others have observed, Donald Trump has the same effect.
Clumsy and tactless as the Labour government have been, I'm still grateful that they're the ones in power and will do my bit to try and ensure they keep it.

MoaningTurtle Tue 02-Sept-25 14:40:44

I won’t be complaining. I can’t wait to have a Reform Government.

Typical leftie, only do what you want and not 3/4 if the country, very democratic of you not. Reform Reform Reform. All the way.

VikingElder Tue 02-Sept-25 14:11:55

I agree with this - Reform are getting a disproportionate amount of airtime and are not held to account when stating untruths and inaccuracies. To answer @MOnica above - years ago the Beeb was indeed seen as ‘woke’ and left-leaning BUT … Boris (during his reign) placed almost entirely Conservative Party supporters/donors and grandees on the Board of Directors (all bar 2 I believe). This put the BBC firmly in the Tory camp, a manoeuvre mostly missed by the population; the British printed press is similarly heavily right wing (& foreign!) owned now - again, most people don’t seem to know this 🤷🏼‍♀️.

I am Centrist in politics, but very worried about how many people are being fed propaganda by right wing operators without realising - an Heaven knows there’s trouble and division being effectively sown right now! Farage is just a NF stirrer with an urbane mask - anyone needing to verify this will find plenty of old footage/proof on the web. Those who believes he’s ’old school’ patriotic are dangerously misguided - and most of the UK’s current issues result from Brexit (thank you Cameron, Johnson, Farage!!), the pandemic - and 14 years of Tory austerity undermining our already creaking services! I wish people would do more (and proper) research and not rely on that rag the Daily Mail (owned by billionaire Lord Rothermere). Viscount Rothermere lives in a mansion in Monaco, identifies as French (he’s British) and pays tax in France. The Daily Mail is registered in Bermuda I believe, and also avoids UK tax. Farage lives much of his time in Europe (lol), is rarely seen in his Clayton constituency (or parliament!) and also avoids UK tax. All these wonderful ‘men of the people’ …

Menopauselbitch Tue 02-Sept-25 14:11:23

So you want the BBC to stop showing Reform, the fastest growing party ever. Every poll going says they are going to get in. But he go you want a Communistic State. Get a grip love.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 02-Sept-25 14:06:49

Jockytaff

GrannyGravy13 - I too am fed up of the two main parties but will never vote Reform. Farage is a Trump fanboy - I think that says it all. I also think we are on a slippery slope with Reform.

I am hoping that the polls will give the main parties the proverbial kick in the pants ,

I couldn’t vote form Reform, but then again I cannot vote Labour, LibDems or the Conservatives 🤷‍♀️

Barbadosbelle Tue 02-Sept-25 14:05:20

.

No, I won't be doing that.
And by the look of these responses few others will.

Many many support Reform and it looks as though they might be given a chance. They might, as a Party, have little experience but lets be honest, the Party's that do are absolutely hopeless.

You are obviously a paid up Labour or Tory member who won't face the obvious. They're both doomed.

And, by the way, I haven't notice any particular Reform prevalence on the BBC.

I also notice that you haven't returned to the site since your posting some 28-hours ago. Nothing to add to support your claims?!!!!

undines Tue 02-Sept-25 13:59:53

Sounds like a call for censorship - which is okay is it, for the so-called 'right wing'? Let's remember that Reform had a MUCH larger section of the vote than is reflected in the number of MPs and many people want to hear about them.
And no, Mt61, I agree - when it comes to listening to the 'common' people and improving the lot of the working class, they can't be worse than Labour!!

Moii Tue 02-Sept-25 13:59:13

I've not noticed, but if there was an election tomorrow they would probably win, they'd certainly get my vote so 'no'

Beau1958 Tue 02-Sept-25 13:45:07

It’s good they are getting exposure it might shake labour up to do some about immigration!

Allira Tue 02-Sept-25 12:23:08

Does aanayone who votes Reform actually listen to R4, I would have thought their radio tastes would lie elsewhere.

That didn't come across very well, surely you didn't mean it as it sounds, M0nica?

BBC News 24 perhaps?

Reform does seem to be mentioned a lot and given airtime but it is not always favourable. Perhaps their marketing and promotions people are more active?

Where are the Lib Dems? Enjoying the summer recess?
