As Reform are leading multiple opinion polls a large proportion of the electorate are interested in them and their opinions.

I thought the BBC was meant to be a woke left wing organisation. Is this evidence that it is actually being an even handed organisation.

Where on the BBC is all this Reform propaganda (i assume that is what you mean) BBC TV News is not often that often so I presume you mean R4. Does aanayone who votes Reform actually listen to R4, I would have thought their radio tastes would lie elsewhere.

They might well be, but the BBC is completely ignoring the requirement for balance in its reporting.

As far as I remember (from a booker at BBC), they put out requests to all parties for a representative.

On the morning news rounds both ITV and BBC you get one from Labour and one from Conservatives every day.

I think the BBC are more even-handed than the printed press.

I disagree, Reform are leading because the electorate are fed up with the two main parties being virtually identical.

Unfortunately Reform, like Trump, are easy pieces for news channels, they can rest assured they will get plenty of viewers without having to work at a story, is basically lazy reporting.

Perhaps even the BBC think people should have some hope about Politics.
Or perhaps they give prominence because of fear of Reform.

I can’t understand why Farage has any credibility at all after his dishonest promises in the Brexit debacle. He just takes the populist stance stirring up resentment and division.

His UKIP party ended in shambles. His MPs and councillors are frequently found to be disreputable characters. Farage doesn’t even properly care for his Clacton constituency so how could he possibly run the country?

Migrants actually bring positive economic benefits to the UK despite the tabloid headlines.

The strategy to defeat Reform is for Labour with Tory support to resolve the immigration issue. That would destroy Farage's main line of attack and return us to the usual two Party competition. Badenoch and the Tories are foolish to follow Farage down the nationalism rabbit hole: its not possible to get ahead of him and it results Right voters leaving to join Reform and Left voters to join the LibDems. Badenoch should stop attacking Starmer on immigration and be constructive. Labour needs to get a grip on immigration and ignore the Left: waving placards saying 'Refugees welcome here' may be comforting ideology but it's obviously unsustainable. Starmer's success is the Tories' success if they could but see it.

Reform gets people talking and interested, rightly or wrongly depending on how you feel.It’s catnip to the media.

The two main parties often seem identical, I agree, GG13, but the media are allowing Reform to punch well above their weight of 4 MPs. Absurd to be boasting of what they would do in power. There are other and more important subjects than immigration that other parties such as the Greens and Lib Dems are talking about. I agree with whoever said it’s lazy journalism.

News providers centre on the subjects they know people are interested in. As others have pointed out, while Reform has few MPs, it has a large majority in the polls.

People are interested in the party and want to know more about it. It has strong views on contentious subjects. It is the duty of all papers to let us know when politicians are not all they say they are.

Just because the dominance of Reform on the national scene makes those of more left leanings feeling queezy, is no reason to give it less publicity. Sauce for the goose is Sauce for the gander, May be we hear less about other parties because no one is interested in them.

I don’t watch tv news but I have just listened to The World At One on R4 whilst driving up the M6.

As far as I can recall, the topics were the govt reshuffle, the quake in Afghanistan, reports from Gaza and an item about sea eagles.

The Tories were mentioned in passing wrt the reshuffle but not a whisper of any other political party.

I guess we all hear what we want to hear and disregard the rest.

Stop listening to the BBC

Perhaps they realise they are losing the support of more open-minded viewers and are trying to be more balanced.

Reform, with only 4 MP’s have cleverly taken advantage of parliaments summer recess and filled a vacuum. The BBC will no doubt now return to being more even handed.

No I won’t be complaining. I don’t watch any msn.
