Yes, I am concerned about this unholy alliance. I suspect that Mr Trump's stand on tarrifs has encouraged this - to quote Shakespeare " adversity makes strange bedfellows of us all ".

Trump's biggest problem is his inability to understand the motivations of other people/countries. Like every Narcissists he thinks people in power like Zi, Putin, Modi etc think like him and they really don't. Trump's wanton destruction of the US's soft power has left many parts of the world which are of strategic interest to China open to China's influence. This is not only incredibly stupid of him, it's also very dangerous for all of us in the Western World.

I agree foxie. Either Mr. Trump thinks that other leaders admire him : he tells us how they all remark, in private, what an amazing leader he is ( oddly, never confirmed by anyone) , or they are afraid of him.
The USA seems to be increasingly sidelined in matters .

I think Trump deserves to be concerned that he is being left out quite deliberately as a result of his ridiculous trade policies.

Although I don't support Modi or any other of these corrupt men, I distrust Trump far more. He isn't the centre of the universe and neither is the USA.

China’s strength has been to play a slow and patient game, gradually infiltrating other economies by undercutting and destroying industries, by building roads etc in third world countries and so putting them in debt, by buying up debt in the USA, by buying property in European capitals, especially in London, by using technology to undermine businesses and to infiltrate government. Now watch them destroy European, Japanese and Korean car makers by flooding our markets with Chinese government subsidised cars, in much the same way they have done with other manufacturing industries. Anyone for cheap, substandard steel? Yes, Trump is a dangerous man, but he is not the root cause. A world where the preeminent leaders are all deranged, despotic narcissists does not feel like a place with a happy future.

My mum used to say ‘beware the yellow peril’. I wonder if it was in the Almanac that everyone used to read back then. Chilling as this show of power is, I was talking about China with my ex yesterday. He went there with his work a few years ago and he was really impressed by the place and its people. He said it was nothing like he expected and there didn’t seem to be the terrible poverty that you experience if you go to India. Having said that, he only saw a minute part of it and maybe it was just the part that they wanted him to see. My grandson was going to do some sort of exchange with some Chinese pupils but unfortunately the pandemic stopped it. And Nottingham University has close ties with it.

People do have a choice about where to buy things, and from whom. We in the West have been used by China because they know how much we like to buy stuff, especially stuff we don't really need.
If people prefer to but Chinese made cars then that's their choice isn't it? I drive a car made in South Korea, my previous car was made in Czechoslovakia.
When Thatcher destroyed our manufacturing base in favour of the free market we then had to rely on manufactured goods from overseas.

Despite their show of military strength I don't believe China is a warmongering nation.
Trump has been goading them with tariffs and China is letting him know that he needs to be careful.
They did say they would fight Trump in any way he wants.

Maybee my son too goes to China on business trips and said how organised clean and welcoming it was he wasn’t expecting it to be so
I don’t think China is a war mongering nations either AGAA4 I lived amongst the Chinese (not in China but in the Far East ) and I had no bad experiences only good

Which came first, the western manufacturers selling their morals/ ethics/ conscience to China for the sake of bigger profits or China offering cheap Labour and the assurance that human rights wouldn’t get in the way of greed.

When we went to China we saw this disgusting practice several times.
The spitting was bad enough but this practice is beyond a joke.
And I got food poisoning on my birthday ending up in hospital 😱
