I’ve just read about this on CNN, and it does not look like those involved are going to be able to wriggle out of what they said.

Even DT won’t be able to dodge this bullet I don’t think.

I think that's sunk his libel action, but I don't see him resigning, more's the pity.

Sorry to derail but,

Good Lord! Have you seen the 'birthday letter' to Epstein from our current US ambassador?

You’re not derailing MaizieD, the analysis I listed was about the impact of the letters for those concerned. It’s all so seedy.

Blimey.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 09-Sept-25 13:52:27

POTUS is denying the birthday greeting is from him, not his signature apparently…

Whitewavemark2 Tue 09-Sept-25 13:57:01

He didn’t rape Carroll either, - apparently🙄.

Casdon Tue 09-Sept-25 13:58:56

It’s very difficult to dispute though, because it was straight from the Epstein vaults, so extremely unlikely to have been tampered with. Trump won’t be able to shrug it off I don’t think, nor will any of the others - there are some big names there.

On the back of a JP Morgan report in 2019

The Guardian contacted Mandelson in 2023 “Lord Mandelson very much regrets ever having been introduced to Epstein. This connection has been a matter of public record for some time."

It's not exactly new news.

NotSpaghetti Tue 09-Sept-25 14:12:02

Though obviously the birthday stuff is new!

Casdon Tue 09-Sept-25 14:13:53

The new news is sight of the actual messages NotSpaghetti, and the inference to ‘activities’ that they contain. Trump’s in particular is explicit.

Labradora Tue 09-Sept-25 14:16:31

What does it actually prove, though? That these blokes knew him and used their acquaintanceships with him and his houses and social gatherings for networking purposes ?
I don't believe that anymore than I believe that Epstein committed suicide. But proof of anything else?.... I'm not so sure.

Casdon Tue 09-Sept-25 14:24:13

I don’t know if you read the CNN article Labradora, but basically as far as Trump is concerned it is about catching him out as a liar. He chose to fight, and deny any involvement, so he has been hoist by his own petard.

Sarnia Tue 09-Sept-25 14:41:48

Trump's a President and Mandelson's a Lord. Heaven help us. Both trying to wheedle out of their entries in Epstein's birthday book. I wouldn't mind hazarding a guess that Bill Clinton also left a chummy message. Slimy creeps every one of them.

Casdon Tue 09-Sept-25 14:50:03

Yes, Bill Clinton did send a message. There’s also a section for assistants’ to write birthday messages. One said said she had met Prince Andrew, Clinton, Trump, Naomi Campbell and Michael Jackson.

“I have flown on the Concorde, gone sky-diving, taken a flying lesson, been scuba-diving, para-sailing, attended a Victoria’s Secret fashion show, seen the private quarters of Buckingham Palace, sat on the Queen of England’s throne.”

Labradora Tue 09-Sept-25 14:53:25

I have now Casdon and I agree it makes good points about the provenance and the signature.
Will be interesting to see how Trump's lawsuit goes.
Another example of the cover-ups and denials becoming problematic , more so than the event itself.
Am shocked to hear that anyone would believe Trump to be a liar!!!

Did you read Mandleson's message? It's creepy, almost like a love letter.

It looks really bad for Mandelson, I can’t see him staying in post. The whole thing is beyond vile - and it only happened just over 20 years ago.

Mandelson has always had that oily look about him.
No word about any bloke jokes from Andrew in the book.

As my Dad would have said "What a bloody shower!"

Casdon Tue 09-Sept-25 16:07:22

Not that I’ve seen Sarnia, just the girl I quoted above, I assume Andrew would have been the one who took her into the private apartments at Buckingham Palace and let her sit on the throne.🤢
