My relative was a very direct relative - ie my father. He knew very well about the "follow orders" bit - and his comment was "Those Israelis - they were chasing them (the Palestinians), they were killing them, we had to protect them (ie the Palestinians)" and a very expressive shudder/look of horror on his face.

I can't speak for all of them - as my father was way more intelligent than many of them (including the officers) - ie about 2 points below Mensa. If you've got a questioning mind and didnt go into the Armed forces by free choice = you've got a questioning mind ....

Now about those 3 women.....one or more of whom may well have British relatives.....

Furthermore, there shall be NO Spanish Territories or Ports used by foreign entities for military / war activities.

I was flatly told that mentioning the history of the ongoing troubles was irrelevant with regard to what is happening today.
Yet the self same members feel free to give us all a potted history of antisemitism through the ages.
History either matters or it doesn’t and I think that if you ignore the history the same tragedies will just keep on happening.

LizzieDrip I don’t have any opportunity for a face to face interaction with the families of the hostages. Neither do I have any introduction to Hamas - which incidentally is a proscribed terrorist organization in the UK. It’s beyond belief that there are so many voices in its favour on GNet.

There are rather a lot of us that know the history of "Israel". We know about the Naqba - sorry...but many of us do know.

In my case - I got told decades ago by my father (who was serving with the British Royal Marines in Palestine at the time of the Naqba in the 1940s).

You would not want to hear his scathing comments about the actions by the Israelis then. Yep....so I am quite clear just who started all this aggro....and it was not the Palestinians (still less the other Arabic countries).

Qatar is in bed with the terrorists acting against Israel. FYI legitimate target therefore.

My belief is that every civilians life is sacred and the defence of said civilians by a government is of course a high priority.
That goes for every country, everywhere.
Israel states this as the reason why it strikes other sovereign countries. So, my question is, shouldn’t the sovereign country struck feel the same priority to defend its civilians as Israel does??
Therefore meaning we should support the same military action against Israel because Qatar has a right to defend itself after being bombed, no?
Or is it only Israel that has a right to defend its civilians by bombing other countries with impunity?

And there we have ronib, you do not intend to speak out against war crimes and genocide.

Everyone in the West? Spain has spoken out and acted against Israel, so has Ireland.

The only progress that has been made, the only hostage releases that have been successful, and I am assuming that everyone on this thread feels that hostage release is a desirable thing, those releases were negotiated in Qatar, not in the White House, not Jelusalem, or London or anywhere else...Qatar.
An now Netanhahu has destryed that.

That accusation is constantly in play on the Gaza threads. It is an ineffective attempt at deflection, and has not worked so far.

But the West must begin to support Israel.

Would love to believe that he is an innocent man. Then there would be hope. I will continue to speak out against him and his war crimes. Qatar is speaking out about the attack, and calling it international terrorism.

I too find it preposterous and offensive that some on this thread and others openly share the assumption that if we don’t support what Israel is doing we support Hamas. This ‘either/or’ argument is unintelligent and says much more about those saying it than those who are accused.

When Qatar is so pro Hamas, there’s no wonder that no progress is being made. It needs an impartial facilitator.

Some of the hostage families, ronib, are despairing at this attack by Israel on Qatari soil. It has been through negotiations in Qatar, that there have been hostage releases.

Please a link on the release of hostages , I can’t find any mention, released yesterday or to be released ?
