Charlie Kirk shot

Isn’t it ironic that someone who made statements that some gun deaths are inevitable and justifiable to protect 2nd Amendment rights. - was shot by someone whose “rights” he was protecting.
Before anyone jumps on me - of course no one should be murdered for their views.

No iamaround but I am beginning to think that Charlie Kirk may have presented his ideas in a perhaps too sophisticated manner for anyone not used to this style of discourse. He was a modern day philosopher? He was also attacking mainstream trends.

Maremia Sat 13-Sept-25 17:31:34

Nope, imaround, people just lash out when they are losing the argument. If they really thought you were being what they accuse you off, they would have reported it.

imaround Sat 13-Sept-25 17:29:26

So I am stupid AND homophobic? GN just keeps getting better and better doesn't it.

For those just popping into the conversation. Here is a synopsis of what Charlie Kirk believed.

Since it has been suggested that the information I share here may not be accurate or be biased, I will tell you that every one of these can be verified. All you have to do is Google them.

No one deserves to die. This should never have happened.

This thread seems to be going in circles, as usual. I will be focusing on the shooters progress through the Justice System for now and leave you alone to bicker amongst yourselves. When I see updates today, I will post for those who are interested.

That’s why there will be no tears from me.
Thank you for posting. The vile spewing of this man’s comments seem to have been forgotten 😡

I do find the repetition of the untruth that he advocated stoning of gay people quite homophobic in itself, I think people are using it to scare gay people which is unpleasant. It was interesting to watch some gay men berating Stephen King for what he said and describing their relationship with kirk.

Maremia Sat 13-Sept-25 17:23:50

Oh please, ronib, be the clever one on here and elucidate.

Maremia Sat 13-Sept-25 17:22:56

Are people 'slandering' him if they are using his own words?

imaround Sat 13-Sept-25 17:20:08

He himself was cherry picking bible verses.

I think you need to be of a sufficient iq to understand the arguments put forward by Charlie Kirk….. seems a bit challenging for some?

Did you just call me stupid? Why am I not surprised.

He was arguing about the cherry picking of bible verses.
If people are interested there is an explanation on of all places Stephen kings twitter where he had to apologise and delete the tweet.

Here is what he said in regards to stoning gays after Ms Rachel supported the LGBTQ community on her show.

Did he call for gays to be stoned? No. Did he imply gays will be stoned. Yes.

"He continued: “And it says, by the way, Ms. Rachel, might want to crack open that Bible of yours, in a lesser reference, part of the same part of scripture is in Leviticus 18, is that thou shall lay with another man shall be stoned to death, just saying. So, Ms. Rachel, you quote Leviticus 19, love your neighbor as yourself. The chapter before affirms God’s perfect law when it comes to sexual matters.”"

And to regular posters I would say be really cautious about information on here at the moment.

I agree.

Are you in the UK? If so you need have no worries and it doesn’t matter if anyone in your family is gay or friends are, we don’t have any groups like Kirk’s here.I don’t expect he liked Jews either but I still hate the fact that he was shot dead for his views.

JudyBloom Sat 13-Sept-25 16:40:04

My heart goes out to Charlie Kirk's family. He was very brave and believed in free speech. God rest his soul. His faith was very important to him. The slander about him has been appalling. The majority of people understood and agreed with his values, Bless him.

Maremia Sat 13-Sept-25 16:33:16

His own words

StoneofDestiny Sat 13-Sept-25 16:31:14

I think it’s worth it to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the second amendment to protect our other God-given rights. That is a prudent deal. It is rational
– Event organized by TPUSA Faith, the religious arm of Kirk’s conservative group Turning Point USA, on 5 April 2023

He clearly would have supported what happened to him as a price worth paying.

Maremia Sat 13-Sept-25 16:28:50

Have a read at the latest CNN online article about the Accused and his background.

Anyone who has any knowledge of this case will know that the stone gays thing isn't true Stephen King has just had to put out a grovelling apology ( I suspect under legal advice) for posting that.
I couldn't care less about posters saying that but I do care about GN and the impact that such things may have on them.

StoneofDestiny Sat 13-Sept-25 16:20:45

The man is no loss to society. How he could talk about religion and The Bible while spouting the most heinous views about people is beyond the understanding of most right thinking people. I don’t mourn Hitler nor would I mourn him. Seems one of his fellow right wingers killed him, so no idea why people said he was killed by ‘the left’.
He and his ilk incite hate and make millions of $$ out of doing so.

imaround Sat 13-Sept-25 16:17:29

This article has a fairly good picture of who the shooter was. I wonder what happened after high school that would cause him to pull back so much?

I am still seeing the link to Groyper vs. Kirk followers, but nothing definite there either.

theworriedwell, yes it is personal. I worry about my friends who are from different races and also the many work colleagues I have had over the years I spent in IT. Working in the tech sector was a very egalitarian place, people were judged on what they could do and contribute to a project. Of course we were mostly all nerds, but hail the nerd!
